TICKET-IN WEEK 9 Class Task # 2 Preparation (for the second session this week - Week 9) Prepare answers to one of the following questions based on your role, as agreed with your group. Base your answers on your experience and on relevant information search (statistics, examples, articles, figures, studies, etc.). Please add as much information as possible and be specific. QUESTIONS: 1. What kind of work or tasks will you perform as a professional, and what will the role of technology/robots be in those jobs? 2. What is the labor market for people in your profession? (E.g. are there any “hot” areas with lots of jobs available?), and where will you probably work? 3. How much will you earn (in Colombia or abroad), and what factors will affect your income? 4. What extra education and/or training may you need, and where can you study those?

The question for my preparation role is number __2__ 1. Please write the question here: What is the labor market for people in your profession? (E.g. are there any “hot” areas with lots of jobs available?), and where will you probably work?

INFORMATION: Demand and job growth for industrial engineers is projected to be sluggish at best, largely because the manufacturing industries which employ most of them continue to either decline or grow very slowly. However, because they are not as specialized as other engineers, industrial engineers are able to widely apply their expertise in devising efficient systems, raising productivity, and reducing internal costs. This versatility ensures that they are able to find opportunities outside of manufacturing, in consulting and engineering services; research and development firms; wholesale trade; government; and in the non-profit sector. Because their work is similar to what is done in many management jobs, it is not uncommon for industrial engineers to leave the occupation for managerial positions. In turn, some jobs may be created by the need to replace these engineers who leave the field. Not surprisingly, due to their diverse deployment across multiple business sectors, continuing education is imperative for industrial engineers. Companies rely on them to be knowledgeable in the latest technologies to provide them with the best solutions and the greatest value. Job candidates who fail to remain current will be at a distinct disadvantage. Some experienced engineers in this field choose to become experts in one industry or in one phase of industrial engineering. Increasingly, some are starting their own consulting firms. https://www.careerexplorer.com/careers/industrial-engineer/job-market/ Prepare appropriate grammar and vocabulary to use in your presentation:  Study & work vocabulary.  Future forms with going to, will, and gerunds.  Predictions with will certainly/definitely/probably; certainly/definitely/probably won't  Predictions with may, might, could.
