Chapter 08 The Book of Proverbs Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom

I Corinthians 1:30 I Corinthians 1:31

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Proverbs 8:1 Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? In Jesus letter to the seven churches, all churches are told; He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Those that are of God hear his voice. Jesus message unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans: As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Revelation 3:19 Revelation 3:20 Revelation 3:21 Revelation 3:22

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

When we don’t listen and rebel against the Lord, we become deaf to the voice of the Lord. Ezekiel The word of the LORD also came unto me, saying, 12:1 Ezekiel Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious 12:2 house. Ezekiel Therefore, thou son of man, prepare thee stuff for removing, and remove by day in their sight; and thou shalt remove from thy place to another place in their 12:3 sight: it may be they will consider, though they be a rebellious house. But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: I Corinthians 1:22 I Corinthians 1:23 I Corinthians 1:24

But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Proverbs 8:2 She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths. John the Baptist called on people to repent of their ways and prepare for the coming of Jesus in Matthew 3:3: Matthew For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths 3:3 straight. Prophecy fulfilled: Isaiah 40:3 Isaiah 40:4 Isaiah 40:5

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Proverbs 8:3 She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors. Jesus is the door. There is no other way to enter heaven: I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and John

out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

Proverbs 8:4 Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man. Jesus’ sheep hear his voice: John 10:24 John 10:25 John 10:26 John 10:27 John 10:28

Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Proverbs 8:5 O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. Putting the Proverbs in order: Ecclesiastes And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people 12:9 knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. In Proverbs 1: 21-23, Wisdom is crying out to the simple, the scorner, and the fool, but when they didn’t listen, the scorner met his destruction. Now, Proverbs 8:5 Wisdom is only crying out to the simple and the fool. Hebrews 12:7 ask the question: Hebrews 12:7

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

Answer to the question asked in Hebrews 12:7: At this point, Proverbs 8:5, wisdom is no longer crying out to the scorner. Only to the simple and the fool. In John 8: 4344 Jesus rebukes scorners that seek to kill him and let’s them know who THEIR father is. John Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. 8:43

John Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a 8:44 murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. John And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. 8:45 John Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe 8:46 me? John He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are 8:47 not of God. Proverbs 8:6 Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things. Proverbs 8:7 For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. Mark 7: 21-23 tells us that wickedness comes from within, so our most important stewardship is our heart: Mark 7:21 Mark 7:22 Mark 7:23

For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Proverbs 8:8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; John Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my 8:14 record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go. John Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. 8:15 John And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father 8:16 that sent me. John It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. 8:17 John I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness 8:18 of me.

There is nothing froward or perverse in them. God does not temp man with anything that is forward, perverse, or evil. James 1: 13-14 makes it clear that no man is to say that he tempted of God with evil: James 1:13 James 1:14

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Proverbs 8:9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge. Friends, family members and even adversaries that don’t understand, usually try to make it difficult on a person that tries to find the LORD, and tries to leave the sinful lifestyle. It’s been my experience that these mockers usually never ask, “What’s right with you?” They usually ask, “What’s WRONG with you?” That type experience is actually anticipated in I Peter 4:3-5: I Peter For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, 4:3 banquetings, and abominable idolatries: I Peter Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: 4:4 I Peter Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. 4:5 Proverbs 8:10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. Proverbs 8:11 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. Job’s endless search for wisdom contrast the search for precious jewels: But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding? Job 28:12 Job 28:13 Job 28:14 Job 28:15 Job 28:16 Job

Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living. The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me. It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof. It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire. The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for

28:17 Job 28:18 Job 28:19 Job 28:20 Job 28:21

jewels of fine gold. No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies. The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold. Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding? Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.

Proverbs 8:12 I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. prudence: 6195

hmr[ `ormah (or-maw'); Noun Feminine, Strong #: 6195 shrewdness, craftiness, prudence pru·dence – Pronunciation: \’prü-dən(t)s\ Function: noun 1 : the ability to govern and discipline oneself by the use of reason 2 : sagacity or shrewdness in the management of affairs 3 : skill and good judgment in the use of resources 4 : caution or circumspection as to danger or risk. Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. There are seven verses that start with the words: “The fear of the LORD” Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Proverbs 10:27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Proverbs 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility. Proverbs 19:23 The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil. Proverbs 6: 16-19 warns us of the seven abominations to God. A proud look, which is first on the list, refers to pride and arrogancy: Proverbs 6:16 Proverbs 6:17 Proverbs 6:18 Proverbs 6:19

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

froward: 8419

hkpht Tahpukah (tah-poo-kaw'); Noun Feminine, Strong #: 8419 perversity, perverse thing fro·ward – Pronunciation: \’frō-(w)ərd\ Function: adjective 1: habitually disposed to disobedience and opposition 2 : archaic : adverse 3: deceitful There are seven things that Peter asks us to add to our faith. As an exorcise, let’s see if we can memorize these: II Peter Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is 1:4 in the world through lust. II Peter And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 1:5

II Peter 1:6 II Peter 1:7 II Peter 1:8

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 – add to your faith virtue 2 – add to virtue knowledge 3 – add to knowledge temperance 4 – add to temperance patience 5 – add to patience godliness 6 – add to godliness brotherly kindness 7 – add to brotherly kindness charity Proverbs 8:14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. Counsel is mine; it was prophesied that Jesus would be called Counsellor. Isaiah For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The 9:6 mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. And sound wisdom: And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: I Corinthians But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 2:7 I Corinthians Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 2:8 I Corinthians 2:4 I Corinthians 2:5 I Corinthians 2:6

I am understanding;

I John And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, 5:20 that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. I John Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. 5:21 I have strength. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. Luke 1:49 Luke 1:50 Luke 1:51 Luke 1:52 Luke 1:53

And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. He hath showed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

Proverbs 8:15 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. Proverbs 8:16 By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. Princes, rulers, nobles, and all the judges can have no power at all, except it were given them from above: John 19:5 John 19:6 John 19:7 John 19:8 John 19:9 John 19:10 John 19:11

Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man! When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him. The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God. When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid; And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer. Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee? Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Matthew 6: 31-34 states the importance of Proverbs 8:17 and tells us to seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness: Matthew 6:31 Matthew 6:32 Matthew 6:33 Matthew 6:34

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

The LORD is my shepherd: A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1 It will be very important to have faith in this matter during the end times. Satan will play on our fear, hopelessness and despair and will try to force us to receive his mark: Revelation 13:16 Revelation 13:17

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

If you are around during the time of Revelation 13:16, no matter how hungry you get, do not go the way of Esau and sell your birthright for bread and pottage of lentils like Esau did in Genesis 25: 29-34. Jesus message to unto the angel of the church in Smyrna: Revelation Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast 2:10 some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Revelation He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. 2:11 Proverbs 8:18 Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. Proverbs 8:19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. Proverbs 8:20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: Proverbs 8:21 That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

Proverbs 8:22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. Before his works of old: On the first day God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 1:1 Genesis And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 1:2 Genesis And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 1:3 Genesis And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 1:4 Genesis And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. 1:5 On the forth day, God created the sun and the moon: Genesis 1:14 Genesis 1:15 Genesis 1:16 Genesis 1:17 Genesis 1:18 Genesis 1:19

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Light travels at a speed of 186,000 miles per second or 700 million miles an hour. At this rate, we are only 8.5 minutes from the sun. Scientist predict that is the sun were to go out suddenly, that we will still have sun light for 8.5 minutes, then every living thing on earth will be dead within four hours. They don’t take into consideration the light that was here before the sun. On the third day all vegetation grew without the sun. Proverbs 3:19

The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

Proverbs 8:23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

In the beginning was the Word: John 1:1 John 1:2 John 1:3

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

The Word was made flesh: John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one: I John 5:7

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending: Revelation I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which 1:8 is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. The first and the last:

Revelation 2:8 Revelation 2:9

And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

Proverbs 8:24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Proverbs 8:25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: Proverbs 8:26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. In the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; Hebrews 1:10 Hebrews

And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a

garment; And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

Proverbs 8:27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: Isaiah prophesied about Jesus: Isaiah 40:21 Isaiah 40:22

Have ye not known? Have ye not heard? Hath it not been told you from the beginning? Have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.

Isaiah 40:23 Proverbs 8:28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: Proverbs 8:29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: Proverbs 8:30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him; Proverbs 8:31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men. Worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Revelation And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and 14:6 kindred, and tongue, and people, Revelation Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the 14:7 sea, and the fountains of waters. Proverbs 8:32 Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. Proverbs 8:33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

Proverbs 8:34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. In Jesus’ letter to the church in Sardis, they are told to be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain: Revelation And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that 3:1 thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Revelation Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. 3:2 Revelation Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and 3:3 thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Watching daily at my gates; Revelation 16:15

Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

Make sure you are at the right gate: Matthew 7:13 Matthew 7:14

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Proverbs 8:35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. John 17:3

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Proverbs 8:36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death. There will come a time in the last days that those that worship the dragon and the beast will seek death, but they will not find it: Revelation And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. 9:6 II Corinthians For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. 3:11

II Corinthians Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: 3:12 II Corinthians And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 3:13 II Corinthians But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done 3:14 away in Christ. II Corinthians But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart. 3:15 II Corinthians Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. 3:16 II Corinthians Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 3:17 II Corinthians But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the 3:18 Spirit of the Lord.
