This is the last chapter in the section put in order by the men of king Hezekiah. We discuss: correcting your children, temperance, and faithfully judging the poor. Proverbs 29 Pr 29:1

He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. Those who can not be refined represent Reprobate silver: Jeremiah They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: they are brass and 6:28 iron; they are all corrupters. Jeremiah The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder 6:29 melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away. Jeremiah Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the LORD hath rejected them. 6:30 In the first nine chapters of the book of Proverbs, there are three characters that are often reproved: Proverbs How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight 1:22 in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? Proverbs Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will 1:23 make known my words unto you. After the scorner was destroyed without remedy, the call for repentance went out to the fool and the simple: Proverbs 8:5 O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. After the fool was destroyed without remedy, the call for repentance went out to the simple: Proverbs Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth 9:4 understanding, she saith to him, Proverbs Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled. 9:5 Proverbs Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding. 9:6 At the end of Proverbs chapter nine, the simple is confronted with the decision to either go in the way of understanding, or walk after their own ungodly lusts and be suddenly destroyed: Proverbs Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth 9:16 understanding, she saith to him, Proverbs Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. 9:17 Proverbs But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the 9:18 depths of hell. Suddenly destroyed without remedy: Proverbs Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no 1:24 man regarded; Proverbs But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: 1:25 Proverbs I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; 1:26 Proverbs When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a

1:27 whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Proverbs Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, 1:28 but they shall not find me: Proverbs For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: 1:29 Proverbs They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. 1:30 I think about Judas, and his attempt to repent once he was at the point of no return. When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: Joseph was righteous in how he conducted the affairs of Egypt: Genesis And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. 41:41 Genesis And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, 41:42 and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; Genesis And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried 41:43 before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt. but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. Exodus And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the 2:23 children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance. Luke And he said, A certain man had two sons: 15:11 Luke And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods 15:12 that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. Luke And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his 15:13 journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. Luke And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he 15:14 began to be in want. Luke And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into 15:15 his fields to feed swine. Luke And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and 15:16 no man gave unto him. Luke And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's 15:17 have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! Luke I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned 15:18 against heaven, and before thee, Luke And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired 15:19 servants. Luke And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his 15:20 father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

Luke 15:21 Luke 15:22 Luke 15:23 Luke 15:24 Luke 15:25 Luke 15:26 Luke 15:27 Luke 15:28 Luke 15:29

Pr 29:4

Pr 29:5

And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing. And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and entreated him. And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.

Luke 15:30 Luke 15:31 Luke It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was 15:32 dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found. The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. The king by judgment establisheth the land: Proverbs It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is 16:12 established by righteousness. but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it. Micah The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: 7:2 they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net. Micah That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge 7:3 asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up. A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet. Give all the glory to God: Luke Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to 6:26 the false prophets.

Pr

Galatians For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet 1:10 pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

29:6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: Proverbs His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden 5:22 with the cords of his sins. Proverbs He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go 5:23 astray. Proverbs 26:27

Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

Ecclesiastes 9:10

Pr 29:7

Pr 29:8

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. Ecclesiastes I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the 9:11 battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. Ecclesiastes For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil 9:12 net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them. but the righteous doth sing and rejoice Exodus Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and 15:1 spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. Exodus The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my 15:2 God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him. Rejoicing will come again by the saints once mystery Babylon is destroyed: Revelation Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God 18:20 hath avenged you on her. Revelation And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into 18:21 the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it. The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: Psalm To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Blessed is he that considereth the 41:1 poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. Psalm The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon 41:2 the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. Psalm The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all 41:3 his bed in his sickness. But the wicked regardeth not to know it. Proverbs Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, 21:13 but shall not be heard. Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

Pr 29:9

Pr 29:10

II Timothy But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more 2:16 ungodliness. II Timothy And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and 2:17 Philetus; II Timothy Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past 2:18 already; and overthrow the faith of some. The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.

I John 3:9 I John 3:10 I John 3:11 I John 3:12 I John 3:13 I John 3:14 I John 3:15 I John 3:16 I John 3:17

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous. Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Pr 29:11

Pr 29:12

I John My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in 3:18 truth. A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

Proverbs Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that 17:28 shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked. This verse tell us that we will know these evil rulers by their fruit: I Kings And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will 22:14 I speak. I Kings So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go 22:15 against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king. I Kings And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell 22:16 me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD? I Kings And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a 22:17 shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace. I Kings And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would 22:18 prophesy no good concerning me, but evil? I Kings And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting 22:19 on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. I Kings And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at 22:20 Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner. I Kings And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will 22:21 persuade him. I Kings And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I 22:22 will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. I Kings Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all 22:23 these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee. The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.

Pr 29:13 Pr The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever. 29:14 Prophecy of Jesus. The king that will faithfully judgeth the poor. Isaiah And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall 11:1 grow out of his roots: Isaiah And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and 11:2 understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; Isaiah And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he 11:3 shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

Isaiah 11:4

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

Pr 29:15 Pr When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their 29:16 fall.

Psalm Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the 37:34 land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. Psalm I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay 37:35 tree. Psalm Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be 37:36 found. Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

Pr 29:17 Pr Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: Amos And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the 8:9 sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day: Amos And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; 8:10 and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day. Amos Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, 8:11 not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: Amos And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they 8:12 shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

Pr 29:19

but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Psalm ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. 119:1 Psalm Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole 119:2 heart. Psalm They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways. 119:3 Psalm Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. 119:4 Psalm O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! 119:5 A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.

many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.

Matthew 22:14 Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him. hasty: 213 #wa 'uwts (oots); Verb, Strong #: 213

(Hiphil) 1. to urge, insist 2. to hasten A re-occurring theme in this chapter: Proverbs A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. 29:11 Pr He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the 29:21 length. Pr An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression. 29:22

Avoid angry and furious men: Romans 16:17 Romans 16:18 Romans 16:19

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. Romans And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of 16:20 our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Proverbs 22:24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: Proverbs 22:25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul. A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

29:23

Pr 29:24

A man's pride shall bring him low: Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. James Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth 4:5 to envy? James But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but 4:6 giveth grace unto the humble. Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.

Pr 29:25

Leviticus And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he 5:1 hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity. The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe. Leviticus 5:1 can also apply to Proverbs 29:25 when it comes to the fear and intimidation that organized crime tries to vex our communities with. Ezekiel In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, 22:12 and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord GOD. Abram’s fear of the Egyptians was a snare to him: Genesis And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said 12:11 unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon: Genesis Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they 12:12 shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. Genesis Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; 12:13 and my soul shall live because of thee. Genesis And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians 12:14 beheld the woman that she was very fair. Genesis The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and 12:15 the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.

Pr Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD. 29:26 Pr An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is 29:27 abomination to the wicked.
