Page 2 of this week’s edition of the Campbell Rotary Newsletter highlights the annual visit of District 5170 Governor, Loren Harper to our club. He presented Double Sustainer pins and other awards to members.

What is Rotary? Governor Explains rescue children from a life on the Governor Loren Harper streets. They have saved over 1200

graced us with his annual visit on September 1. The governor was accompanied by his wife, Diane, also a Rotarian, and Area 8 Assistant Governor Tim Lundell. So, “What is Rotary?”, you may be asked by others. According to Governor Harper, “Rotary is one of the largest international humanitarian organizations in the world.” Through our educational, health and humanitarian efforts, Rotarians around the world reach out to those in need in ways big and small. Governor Harper lives his life as a true Rotarian. He worked for fourteen years in Brazil helping to

children from a desolate life in that country and the organization has moved on to help children in The Philippines as well. Governor also likes the fact that Rotary is an egalitarian organization. Doctors, lawyers, CEOs, small business owners, and others dedicated to community service all come together and are known by their first names. When people ask him about his involvement with Rotary, Governor Harper shares his many experiences and then asks them a question: “Which service club do you belong to?” When there is a pause in the answer, he asks them to join Rotary. We can all do the same.
