Club Speech Contest z

Two weeks from today, February 10, our club will host our student speech contest here at EMQ during our regular meeting time. Members are encouraged to arrive a bit early so we can have plenty of time for our guest speakers. This year’s theme is “Rotary Pride, Make Dreams Real.”

Come Join our Board Next Monday, February 2 at 5:30, our club’s Board of Directors will meet at Emil Villa’s Hickory Pit. The “Pit” is located on Campbell Ave. just West of Bascom Ave across from The Prune Yard. But what goes on at Board meetings, anyway? We share information about what the various committees are working on. We discuss requests for funds that come from various people and organizations and finally decide which projects we will support.

Tips on Finding a Good Speaker Our club is somewhat unique in that we all contribute to finding speakers for the program portion of our weekly meetings. It’s worth reminding everyone what makes for a good program. We are looking for presenters who have an interesting, timely and/or entertaining presentation to make, like Randy Hanh, above. We want to avoid one that is a blatant pitch for their products or services. Our goal is to inform and entertain and not just to be sold. 
