Group III Material Classification Muhammad Prayogi Setiyawan (30) Adenova Putra Mahendra (39)

Material Classification In general, material classification is divided into two, namely: •

Metal material and,

Non-metal material

There are two types of metals, that is: 

Ferrous  The

ferrous metals are metals and alloys containing iron (Fe) as the main element.

Non-Ferrous  Non-ferrous

metals are materials that contain little or no metal.

Non-Metal Material There are several types of non-metallic materials, namely: 

Ceramics 

Polymer 

Ceramics have hard properties, brittle and poor heat and electrical conductor.

Polymers have low density properties, poor heat and electrical conductivity, and are easily formed.

Composite 

The composite is a composite of two or more ingredients of each fixed property.

Based on the form material / engineering materials are divided into three namely: 

Solid 

Liquid 

Solid Massive, relatively fixed, strong bond (eg, metal, ceramic, plastic, glass, rubber, wood, etc.).

Liquid The shape follows a vessel, weak bond (eg lubricants, water, gasoline, diesel, other chemicals).

Gas 

Gas The shape follows a vessel, not visible (eg oxygen, CO2, acetylene, hydrogen, etc.).
