The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) working in conjunction with other charities under the umbrella group of Wildlife and Countryside Link, are celebrating some success with the UK Marine and Coastal Access Act becoming law on the 12th November 2009. A major part of this Act is to develop an ambitious approach to managing the marine environment, which will include the establishment of Marine Conservation Zones, to protect nationally important habitats and species. If you would like more information please read our full article on the this issue, which features a video with Kate Humble, which can be found at http://bit.ly/i83PR As scuba divers it is vital that we become involved in showing that protecting the marine environment is important, so please visit the MCS Your Seas Your Voice website and vote for your favourite marine sites around the British coast. Swimming Pool Sessions At Chapeltown Swimming Pool As Dive Club members, you can use the pool for only £5 per person, during our pool sessions, using your own kit, or just £15 per person including rental of full kit. Chaired by Alison Smallwood Many thanks to all the people that managed to attend this month’s club meeting it was a good turn out and very nice to see some new faces, we currently have 53 active club members. Dream Divers Club Membership Fees are only £12 per person.

PADI Specialty of the Month Dream Divers Specialty of the month course for December is PADI Search and Recovery Diver

PADI Search and Recovery Diver This month’s specialty of the month, provides you with useful skills, which could come in handy at any time, even when you are least expecting it. The PADI Search and Recovery Specialty teaches you, during the four dives all the skills necessary to successfully plan and execute a search and recovery dive, including:  Dive planning  Organization procedures  Search Patterns  Limited visibility techniques  Navigation for search and recovery  How to deal with any potential problems  Locate both large and small objects  Lift bag use and recovery methods After completing all the exercises and practicing all the techniques covered in this course, you will be well equipped to deal with a search and recovery, should the need ever arise. The Dream Divers price normally is £145, as usual club members can benefit from our club members only offer price of only £130 per person and this includes the use of equipment if needed. This course can be credited towards the PADI Master Scuba Diver qualification, which is PADI's highest recreational diving qualification Contact the dive centre for more details
