Tutorial Notes Tutorial 4 Issues with all styles 1. Demonstration – particularly KTPS, task, skill 2. Lesson plan – sequence, objectives 3. Implementation – style 4. Organisation – LEST 5. Station teaching – strategical, increase time on tasks, increase learning opportunities, maximises LEST, inclusion and allows styles to be run concurrently. Organisation styles 1. SS/ST 2. SS/MT 3. MS/ST 4. MS/MT Adapting for the game of soccer Activity 1 - Warming up with SS/ST and individual practice – students individually complete required tasks of toe tapping the ball, tapping side by side, moving forward and backwards whilst tapping the ball side to side. - Skills of inside foot cut, outside foot cut and drag cut taught through progression of styles è Begin in individual practice, each dribble forward and complete the different cuts è Progress to self-check to get students to individually check if they are completing the skills correctly – KTPs è Move to inclusion, where students can decided which type of cut they want to complete and at what pace - Further progression with one student acting as defender who runs from either side (left or right) to the player with the ball – player must make decision as to which cut and direction to move è Can use guided discovery to get students to discover the most appropriate cuts to do and which direction to move è Progress to convergent discovery with students coming to the conclusion of move left if they are coming from the right and vice versa - Encourages discussion from students and enables them to solve the given problem together – more important to see students thinking about and discussing the concept, rather than getting the skill completely correct *Can also incorporate reciprocal style with students observing peers and providing feedback Activity 2 - Two areas set up with the same task - Replicates the same as above, but more effective organisation - All 4 students at cones run into the middle cone, cut with outside foot and run to next cone. Continue through with all students - Enables more students to be used within the given space and with equipment
Activity 3 - Set up multiple stations with the use of many styles - Students to be using a different style and completing a different task in each area - Teacher to be focusing on the area that needs more observation and input, e.g, game station - Students rotate through each to develop all skills and adapt all styles Example - On right side, students individually practice outside foot cut – can be left to do themselves - In middle, students completing a game using divergent discovery – how can you attack the ball after a goal - On left, students individually practice inside foot cuts – can be left to do themselves
è Adapt with more skills and styles by incorporating another area with 3 separate sections – allows more time to be spent in the task and hence more to be achieved by the students and the teacher.
