EXPLANATION/USE

STRUCTURE

EXAMPLES

Present simple

To conjugate the present simple we use the infinitive for the subjects "I", "you", "we" and "they" and for the third persons "he", "she" and "it", we add a "-s" to the end of the verb. ... Note: There are spelling exceptions in the third person, according to the letter in which the verb ends.

-The structure of the verb in simple present is normally the same as the form of the infinitive in all people except the third person singular, where an 's' or 'es' is added

I, you, we, they

-With verbs that end in consonant 'y', we change the 'y' for 'i' + 'es' in the third person singular

he, she, it

(jose luis Reyes)

-Negative sentences in simple present are formed by writing (do not) or (does not) before the verb, in this case do and does they work as auxiliary verb. Does you write for the third people of the singular " He", "She", "It"; and do for "I", "you", "we" and "they. When negative sentences are written for third parties, the s or es must be eliminated at the end of the verb, and written in its simple form. The contractions don’t (do not) and doesn’t (does not) .They are commonly used.

(Talk, eat, learn, do, go…) Ej. I talk. (Yo hablo.)

(Talks, eats, learns, does, goes…) Ej. -He eats. (Él come.) -She does the tea. (Ella hace el té) -she/he/it cries (del verbo, cry - llorar) Ej. Negative sentences I do not work (Yo no trabajo) / I don’t work (Yo no trabajo) He does not work (Él no trabaja) / He doesn’t work (Él no trabaja)

-Interrogative sentences in simple present are formed by writing do or does before the subject or personal pronoun. Does is used for third parties of the singular " He", "She", "It"; and do for "I", "you", "we" and "they.

Ej. Interrogative sentences

do and does They function as an auxiliary verb. For third parties, you must eliminate the s or es at the end of the verb, and write it in its simple form. The question mark is only written at the end

¿Do we come to school by bus? (¿Nosotros vamos a la escuela en autobús?)

¿Does she read the newspaper every day? (¿Ella lee el periódico cada día?)

Present progressive (Juan camilo Cárdenas)

The progressive or continuous present is a verb tense of the present which is used in two cases:

Forms of the verb "To be"

Ej.

Pronoun Verb "To be"

Cut-cutting (cortar – cortando)

1. To describe facts or actions that the subject is doing at the moment of speaking.

He= Is

2. To talk about an action or plans that we are going to carry out in the near future.

I= am

She=is It=is

Sit-sitting (sentar – sentando) Ej.

You= Are

Come – coming ( venir – viniendo) Write – writing (escribir – escribiendo)

They=Are

Ej.

For the formation of sentences in Present Progressive, the verb should be used “To be” of each of the personal pronouns, followed by the verb or action in gerund. Remember that in the English language, for a verb to be in its gerund form, the ending must be added at the end of each verb “-ing” which in Spanish, is translated as the terminations “ando”,”-iendo” o “-yendo”.

Admit – Admitting (aceptar – aceptando) Begin – Beginning(empezar – empezando)

We = Are

There are some rules to convert a verb in its simple form to a gerund, according to its completion. -If the verb has a single syllable and ends in a consonant preceded by a single vowel (following the Consonant-vowel-consonant structure), that consonant must be duplicated and then we add the ending “-ing”.

Ej. Cancel – Cancelling (cancelar – cancelando) Impel – Impelling(impulsar – impulsando) Ej. Lie – Lying (mentir – mintiendo) Ej Affirmative sentences Kelly is eating in her home at the moment.

- If the verb ends in "-e" and it is preceded by a consonant, the "e" is deleted and "-ing" is added instead.

- Kelly está comiendo en su casa en este momento

- If the verb has more than one syllable and the accent falls on the last one, we have to double the last consonant when we have only one vowel and only one consonant on the last syllable.

Ej. Negative sentences Kelly is not eating in her home at the moment.

- When a verb ends in "l", and this is preceded by a vowel, said "l", it must be duplicated and then "-ing" will be added. - In the verbs that end in "-ie", this particle must be replaced by a "y" to then add the "-ing". Finally, as in all verb tenses, time expressions should be used to indicate that the action in which the prayer falls is being performed at the time it is spoken or to indicate that we are describing future plans.

- Kelly no está comiendo en su casa en este momento.

Ej. Interrogative sentences Is Kelly eating in her home at the moment? - ¿Kelly está comiendo en su casa en este momento?

Affirmative sentences (Am, is are) Pronombre/sujeto + Aux. “To be” + Verbo-ing + Complemento + Expresión de tiempo Negative sentences (Am not, isn´t, aren´t) Pronombre/ sujeto + Aux. “To be” – not + Verbo ing+ Complemento+ Expresión de tiempo Interrogative sentences Aux. “To be” + Pronombre/ sujeto + Verboing + Complemento + Expresión de Tiempo + ? Connectors are words or groups of words whose main function is to establish some kind of relationship between sentences that are part of a text. Depending on the type of connector we use, we will give a specific meaning to our text. That is, if we change the connector, we will give it a totally different meaning.

These are words or groups of words whose main function is to establish some kind of relationship between the sentences that are part of a text. Depending on the type of connector we use, we will give a specific meaning to our text. that is, if we change the connector, we will give it a totally different meaning. There is a wide variety of connectors, it depends on the type of connection between ideas that you want to give.
