Public Relations Post Reports to: Regional Recruitment Officer Job Summary Public Relations promote positive attitudes towards the Region's activities both in and out of the organization, including the needs of existing members, developing a positive image to those outside the organization, or developing programs that will encourage member growth within the Region. Public Relations may perform the following tasks: • • • • • • • •

Identify and analyze the Regions strengths and weaknesses, and respond to opportunities and threats to the membership. Develop and implement Public Relations programs that will enhance the pride and self-esteem of existing members within the Region. Develop high profile Media strategies to provide a positive image to the Region, Starfleet and the general public. Develop plans in relation to event photography and subsequent journalistic summaries for distribution to Regional, Starfleet and general public media outlets. To cooperate with other Regional Officers in developing strategies and programs that will encourage teamwork and growth in the Region Public Relations involves working with, and gaining the cooperation of, people in specialist areas such as technical experts, Regional Leadership, Broadcasting and advertising agents. Carry out administrative work, which may include written correspondence, preparing submissions and reports for government bodies or other agencies and attending management meetings. Public Relations involves considerable personal contact and travel within communities. They are normally expected to attend evening meetings and occasional weekend activities.

An interest in assisting people Able to work both independently and in cooperation with others Good work organization and time management skills Able to relate to people effectively and patiently Able to manage and help resolve conflict Able to understand the issues and interests of the communities involved Good oral and written communication skills



Able to follow policies and directions from the Regional Coordinator.
