Senate Meeting Minutes: August 5, 2008 1. Called to Order – 9:33am

2. Roll Call – Everyone was present 3. Additions – Elect Secretary (Became #10, For the Good of the Order #11) Corrections – 6a Steer to Sterr 4. Approval of Agenda 5. Approval of Minutes – Tabled 6a. Peter’s Report – New positions in ASWSUV - The separation of Pro Tem and Secretary - Chancellor Student Advisory Board - Activities Board Getting retreat ready with Andrea Helped Executive Staff prepare for the school year 6b. Andrea’s Report – Planned retreat and create binders Created a vision and direction for 2008-09 ASWSUV Working with Legislation - DLA Funding, Washington Student Lobby (WSL), and Board of Regents 6c. 1) Eric’s Report – Created calendar for the school year Allocated a budget for each activity Preparing Back to School BBQ 2) Nicole M.’s report – Helped create the new ASWSUV logo Working on getting banners, new A-frames, and posters Creating a student email list 3) Michael’s report – Created a new website with a forum Needs every Senator’s biographies and pictures Helped create the new logo with Nicole M 4) Summer’s report – Attended WSL Meeting with Andrea Currently planning WSL Retreat Creating a plan of communication with the Pullman campus 5) Blake’s report – The ROAR club fair on August 20th Making a contact sheet with each club’s information Had a Blackboard account created for clubs Creating a contact sheet with other campuses’ clubs and RSOs 7. No committee reports

No old business 8. Confirmation of Senate Meeting time – Fridays at 9am 9. Elected Emily Brown as Pro-Tem 10. Elected Jackie Cruz as Secretary 11. For the Good of the Order Peter – Bowling Nights are now being put on by the Activities Director - $ to move from Events Pool to the Activities pool for these events An Outlook account created for the Senate ([email protected]) Business cards created for the Senate Suggested the Senate to look at the website and promote it to students Recommended to find students to fill the 2 Senate Vacancies - Applications located in the ASWSUV office - The deadline for nominations from the President by 15 school days - Special election if one more Senator leaves the Senate - Recommendations from Senate for new Senators Robert – Who has control of the budget? - Senate has control of the budget once school starts - $3,000 - 4,000 to be moved from Events Pool to the Activities Pool for Bowling Nights - $10,000 allocated for rollover Michelle – She has been working with Blake and Eric on ROAR Orientation - Suggested that the Senate to table at the event A reminder to attend the activities on August 19th Suggested to come into the office and get acquainted The first Senate Meeting on campus is on August 29th 2008 Andrea – There will be an informal Senate Meeting - To learn about administrative and office procedures Date to be determined Adjourned at 10:04 am
