18th Senate Meeting Minutes:

1. Called to Order – 9:04am 2. Roll Call – Everyone present 3. No additions or corrections of the agenda

4. Approval of Agenda - approved 5. Approval of Minutes – approved Senator Chu motioned correction of 6c 4 from Summer to Sommer Senator Brown seconded 6a. Peter’s Report – Permit for students who carpool and new parking lots Finalizing budget, $30,000 in rollover, needs to be allocated Rec. Center Project – conducting survey for its feasibility to students and community Chancellor’s Student Advisory Board To work on ASWSUV’s relationship with the VanCougar Staff Discussed ideas for diversity on campus with Bola Worked on Activities Board with Eric Worked on the DLA internship with Paul Theirs and the funding with Pullman 6b. Andrea’s Report – The student government retreat occurred and went well Created the senate binders Executive Staff meetings Met with the Washington Student Lobby at Eastern WA University Traveled to Western WA University to discuss transfer issues within WA State Ordered name badges Created an email account and business cards for the senators Re-did form for Monthly One on Ones and created a form for Event Analysis 6c. 1) Eric Davidson’s Report – Event calendar confirmed but with some tentative dates Budget outlined for all events during the year Working on Back to School BBQ with Jared and Blake for the Club Fair Movie contract with Swank Applications for Activities Board now available Working on contract with Crosley Lanes for bowling nights Time conflicts and adding additional spots for Pullman Trips 2) Nicole Mousleh’s report – Received new A-frames and decorations for the office Went to Pullman as a representative of ASWSUV at the Student Gov’t Council Re-did alcove space in the Cafeteria and plans to have a similar space in the offices Attended ROAR as an ASWSUV presence 3) Michael Hatch’s report – 2 new computers

Shared drive access to the Senate Can register Senators for the website forum Senator Bios due by Sept 5th Vice President Wooster motioned to add Jared Pengra to the agenda at 6c. 6 Senator Brown seconded 4) Sommer Knight’s report – Attended WSL Board Retreat with Senator Chu to plan for this year Now an official member of Washington Student Lobby Executive Director of WSL visiting campus on Sept 3rd State Senate Meeting @ the Hilton on Sept 4th Sept 21st WSL Meeting Voter Registrations coming up NW Student Leadership Conference in November 5) Blake Hunter’s report – The club fair didn’t work at ROAR Working on contact info with other WSU campuses’ clubs 5 different orientation times for Clubs Club Fair at the Back to School BBQ Training retreat with clubs 6) Jared Pengra’s report – Oriented with the office Applications for Activities Board Worked on attaining rooms and vehicles for Pullman trips Attended ROAR orientation

7. No committee reports Old Business 8. Approval of 5/2/2008 Minutes – Senator Chu motioned to amend Summer to Sommer Senator Morgan second New Business 9. Confirmation of Open Senate Position One New Senator - Spring Atkinson by unanimous vote Senator Brown asked if she had any time commitments - Available except Monday, Wednesdays, and Tuesday nights 10. Confirmation of Open Senate Position Two Potential Senators: Melissa Boles, Lacey Brown, and Jake Kleinschmidt Melissa Boles: Senator Chu asked what involvement she had locally. - Women’s Health with Planned Parenthood Senator Brown asked if she had any time commitments - Classes everyday but dispersed in times Lacey Brown:

Senator Brown asked if she had any time commitments - Available during the day, works nights Senator Chu asked what goals she has intended for on-campus - More student involvement - Wants students to have feel the same as a residential campus Jake Kleinschmidt: Senator Brown asked if he had previous experience with student government - Yes at Clark College Senator Chu asked how he would have an active role on and off campus - Bring student government out of the office and into the hallways New Senator – Jake Kleinschmidt 11. For the Good of the Order Michelle: - 14 clubs have confirmed to be at the Club Fair on Sept 3rd from 11am - 2pm - New equipment has arrived for the Fitness Center to open in mid Sept. - Reminder that University vehicles are to be used by University entities can only ride in them President Sterr: - We need to clean and spruce up the offices Rich (a guest): - Suggested to bring in student lockers which have been used at UW - Proposed a pilot project to see if it works on our campus Senator Myers asked how often the lockers were used at UW - Very heavily used on the campus This idea has been referred to the Programming Committee and will work side by side with President Sterr on the project Senator Brown: - Asked Senators to come up with ideas by the Senate training meeting on Sept. 5th for t-shirts for the Senate to wear on Fridays Adjourned at 10:04am
