“A great attitude does much more than turn on the lights in our worlds; it seems to magically connect us to all sorts of serendipitous opportunities that were somehow absent before the change. -Earl Nightingale
”
A Business Philosophy
That WINS!
In the legendary audio tape, “The Strangest Secret,” Success Expert, Earl Nightingale (1921-1989) says, “You become what you think about.” If that is true, why doesn’t everyone “think success”? The answer is a combination of 1) what we expose ourselves to, and 2) how we condition our minds. We live in a world of negative mind conditioning where the three big motivators are: fear, greed and vanity. These three together drive the American sales process, which in turn determine how we spend and live our lives.
Our society preys on the fear factor— motivating our every move based on fear of something. It is in 50% of the ads we see. Fear is bred in advertisements about life insurance for death and disability, stolen credit cards, anti-freeze for stalled cars, tires that grip the road in the rain, brakes that stop to avoid hitting a child on a bike, and security systems so your home won’t be robbed. Our society bases itself on fear tactics; therefore, it is only natural to take them with you into the workplace. This fear eventually makes its way to become a fear of failure. With all this coming 6

at us daily, what can we do to still be able to succeed and overcome this kind of fear? How do we take fear and divert it to its direct opposite which is faith? We must first stop listening to and believing everything we hear. This will NOT come by continuously doing the same things over and over and expecting different results. We have to expose ourselves to new information that we have never exposed ourselves to in the past. There are countless libraries dedicated to helping you with thousands of references, books, computers, and inspirational materials. There is a free education awaiting you at your fingertips. You have to make a conscious and planned effort to educate yourself with information that is going to help you succeed. Exposing yourself to these information highways will do wonders for your career or position in life. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 10:14, “Wise men lay up knowledge”. In other words, the more you know, the more you grow! Whenever we’re afraid, it’s because we don’t know enough. If we understood enough, we would never be afraid. -Earl Nightingale Philosophy is defined as your attitude, thinking, way of life and beliefs. The Bible says that the way a man thinks is the way he will be or what he will become (Proverbs 23:7). Whatever you feed your mind and think on will eventually manifest itself in your life. The Bible also instructs us to
get wisdom and get understanding of that wisdom (Proverbs 4:5). The steps you take in educating yourself each day are steps toward getting understanding. Once you re-examine your philosophy and it begins to take a different more positive form, you will also begin to produce a better lifestyle for you, your family and even your business environment. Jim Rohn, a famous American business philosopher is quoted as saying, “Philosophy drives attitude. Attitude drives actions. Actions drive results. Results drive lifestyles.” If you don’t like your lifestyle, look at your results. If you don’t like your results, look at your actions. If you don’t like your actions, look at your attitude. If you don’t like your attitude, look at your PHILOSOPHY. It all
comes back to how we think. Many people make the fatal mistake of starting their philosophy somewhere in the middle. Some begin with “action”. If we have no philosophy and we have a bad attitude, what kind of actions are we going to take? It starts the moment you wake up in the morning. You can wake up to, “I dread going to work today,” or you can wake up to, “This is the day which the LORD hath made; I will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24)—regardless of what the day may hold. This way of thinking will change your life, and your positive magnetic attitude will inevitably bring you all kinds of favor. Rest assured, whichever you choose will form exactly the type of day, week or month you will have. It all begins with how you think.

Living Successfully in God’s Economy By Victor Morales
If you’ve paid attention to any form of media these days, you hear the same thing over and over: “the economy is on a downfall”, “ there is a recession”,” gas prices are out of control”, “the cost of living has significantly increased”,” jobs are getting scarce”, “the stock market is plunging”, “the dollar is losing its value”,” the housing market is on a decline,” and the list goes on and on. This type of media coverage breeds fear in people, causing them to hold on to everything they have, and hardly ever reports on anything good that is actually happening. When you are focused on negative or bad news, it is almost impossible to see the good. People are only going to believe what they hear and see every day. Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” It is not God’s will for your life to focus on the bad, but to focus on His Word daily. His Word says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul (mind, intellect, seat of emotions filled with Gods Word) prospers.” (3 John 1:2) The closer you get to God during these times, the more assurance you will feel of his willingness to bless your life, even if things don’t “appear” favorable. Everything in God’s kingdom is the direct opposite of the world’s kingdom. The world economy says, “Hold on to everything for dear life”. Gods Word says, “Give and it shall be given unto you.” (Luke 6:38) The world says, “Take care of yourself”, or as 8
March/April 2009
a more popular saying would coin it, “Take care of number one.” God’s Word says, “Do unto others as you wish they would do unto you.” (Matthew 7:12) The world says, “Be the greatest you can be.” God’s Word says, “The greatest of all is the servant of all.” (Matthew 23:11) The world says, “Increase in everything.” God’s Word says, “You must decrease so that I may increase in your life.” (John 3:30) The world says, “Live your best life now.” God’s Word says, “Die to yourself.” (John 12:24) You’ll see a great difference when you live for God. When you live for God, no recession, no economy, no bad news is going to dictate your life. Only your belief system in who you are in God will dictate that. God is an ever-abundant supplier of all of our needs. He, and only
“With God, there is no lack, there is no poverty and all things are possible.” He, is our primary source of supply--not the world economy or any other fear tactic that is used. With God, there is no lack, there is no poverty and all things are possible. Without God, everything seems impossible. God’s word says, “But my God shall supply all my need according to His riches in glory by Christ
Jesus.” (Phillippians 4:19) It’s His riches and glory that counts! Imagine that-- having all your needs supplied from His riches and His glory, not what we think are riches and glory. His riches and glory are much more than anything we can possibly think about. His ways and his thoughts are much greater than our ways and our thoughts! (Isaiah 55:8) God wants only the best for us. His Word says that only through our lack of knowledge of Him are we destroyed and impoverished (Hosea 4:6), and not because of any current economy. These are times for us to get to know and revere him for who He is. This kind of knowledge of God is only possible through God’s Son, Jesus Christ. These are not times to believe every bit of bad news, but for us to be making up our own good news in the Lord Jesus Christ.
We are to live and work in this world, but not to be like the world. Getting to know God more intimately may not immediately change the world around you and its belief system, but you can certainly start changing how you approach the circumstances surrounding you. Before you know it, the circumstances around you will also begin to change. God wants his children to prosper in all things, regardless of the economy. Be blessed as you live in His ever-abundant economy!

Servanthood
By Victor and Diana Morales
The Path to Great
Leadership An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest. Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him. Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all—he is the greatest.” (Luke 9:46-48) Whether they are employees, brothers and sisters, a circle of friends, or teammates, the age-old question seems to always pop up: “Who is the greatest of us all?” It has been the root cause of divorce, fall-outs in families, and ruined friendships. Competition, rivalry and envy have been around for a very long time. Do the names Cain and Abel ring a bell? How about the Hatfield’s and the McCoy’s? As children growing up with siblings, one of the most popular questions to parents has been, “Who do you love more?” Unfortunately, we tend to take this mindset into our “grown-up life”
“Any definition of a successful life must include serving others.” – George H.W. Bush
at the workplace, within families or even in church. Most people have a deep-seated desire to be noticed, recognized, and appreciated. If this were not true, there would be no such thing as “office gossip” or “the grapevine”— someone always trying to bring someone else down in the hopes of shining a bit brighter. The Bible clearly instructs us that 10

if we are to be the greatest, we need to be the least. Jesus also instructed the disciples that they must wash one another’s feet (John 13:14). This still holds true today. The modern-day translation is simply: serve one another. Servanthood has a modern derogatory note to it, yet it is the key element that is missing in most people’s lives. Most people have the attitude of, “What’s in it for me?” Servanthood is a state of the heart. It says, “This is what’s in it for you!” The greatest CEO knows how to serve his employees and customers. The greatest dad knows how to serve his wife and his children with love and support. The greatest spouse serves the other spouse. The greatest friend is readily available to serve his friend. Simply put, this is you being the best at being last—or least. Everyone strives for 1st place, but it is last place that wins God’s greatest rewards. Ephesians 6:5-8 says, “Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in single-
ness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.” When you begin to serve others as unto the Lord, without expecting a “pat on the back” or a “good word” from man, you will reap rich rewards from God. It is at this time that we are put to the test to see if we can actually be great leaders. The Bible says “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things” (Matthew 25:21). When you begin to do your job at work with excellence as
unto God, suddenly work gets more exciting. When you decide to love your spouse as unto God, suddenly you find new love that you didn’t even know was there. In any act of service, you will begin to see that your complaining will suddenly drop to a minimum. After all, what is there to complain about if your heart is set on serving everyone else before you? Victor and Diana Morales with Victor Morales Ministries International have been called to bring encouragement, hope and revival through Jesus Christ to the lives of the people in the Rio Grande Valley. They are Pastors, Evangelists and Publishers of Saved Magazine.

How to Pray for Your
Children
By Diana Morales
Many parents ask us the same question, “Can you please pray for my kids?” “I don’t really know if I’m praying right or specifically for them.” The day our eyes connect with our children’s or grandchildren’s eyes, our entire world takes on a whole new meaning. In a moment of time, their future and well-being become the most important things in our lives. Like anything else in your life, when you want it to function properly and last for a long time, you must carefully read and adhere to the manufacturer’s manual. Our children were designed and sent to us by God. God has a manual—the Word of God, the Bible—written for all of us. If something is broken or not working well, read the manual and find out how to get it fixed. If something is broken in the lives of our children, we simply need to read the manual, believe it and speak it over their lives. The very best prayers for anything in our lives are found in the Maker’s Manual— the Bible. It details to us how to live our life, and live it more abundantly (John 10:10). The only certain unfailing things we have in life are the Promises of God from His Word. His Promises are everlasting! God’s will for our children and grandchildren is His Word; therefore, the very best way to pray—is to pray God’s Word. Isaiah 55:11 says that His Word is the only thing that will not return empty—but it will go and do exactly what it is meant to do. That is a guaranteed promise from God. God watches over His word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12). Trust Him as you boldly and faithfully pray these scriptures over your children (both young and adult). There are 10 scriptures below that you can 12

The Vision… The Valley… The VICTORY!
With God ALL things are possible! Matthew 19:26 If you have never given your life to the Lord or received Jesus into your heart—this is a prayer you can pray and receive His free gift of salvation. God’s Word says that If you confess with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and you believe with your heart He rose from the dead—you will be saved. (Romans 10:9-10) This is the only way to get to heaven. If you want to experience this hope to live forever with God, pray this prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, come into my heart. Take away my stony heart, and give me a heart of flesh. I repent of my sins and receive your free gift of salvation for my life. I turn my back on the world’s way of living and turn my life over to you. Thank you, Jesus for coming into my heart today. If you prayed this prayer for the first time, we would love to give you a free gift. Please call us at 686-9925 or e-mail us at
[email protected] and tell us, “I just prayed the prayer of salvation.” The Bible says that all heaven is rejoicing over YOU! Praise God! To advertise in Saved Magazine, please call (956) 328-6117
The Power of a Praying Mother By Sylvia Perez
Prayer. I never knew how powerful it was until I was put to the test to trust God wholeheartedly with the lives of my children. I am a praying mother, and I want to share what Jesus Christ has done in my family for the past two years. My husband and I raised our two daughters in a dignified and clean culture, where our belief system was that as long as we were “good” people, everything would be fine in our lives. We never imagined the curve our lives would soon take as time quickly went by. Right before our eyes, our daughters grew up. While we were busy with our lives, our youngest daughter had become addicted to drugs in High School. As parents, this was to be the greatest pain we could ever feel. Only God knew what we were going through. At that time, a dear friend and her husband began to minister to me and my husband. It was through this couple that we learned about Jesus and His saving power. I began my greatest challenge ever— to press in and pray for my daughter with complete faith in God. However, in the midst of my prayer, my daughter announced to us that she was getting married to a young man who was also a drug addict. Now I found myself not only praying for my daughter, but for my brand new son-in-law that needed to be set free just like her. In desperation, my son-in-law’s mother and I began praying continuously for both of them. Here we were—two 18

mothers united in one faith believing God for the lives of our children. My husband and I desperately tried to help our kids with Godly counsel from pastors, family and friends—sharing God’s Word with them. Each day was a day of tearing down the bondage in which drugs had them. Each day I pleaded the blood of Jesus over them. Each day I would proclaim to them, “You are servants of the Most High God! This is who you REALLY are!” They could not understand my faith and would answer me, “Don’t you see that we’re in sin—what are you saying?” I never doubted the power of God to deliver and all His faithful promises in His Word. You see, I understand that we are to walk by faith in God, and not by what our natural eyes see. Faith calls it done even though we don’t have natural proof of its manifestation. Daily, I stood on the scripture, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua 24:15) I talked to my kids with the love of God, with patience and wisdom. The Bible says, “Love never fails.” (1 Corinthians 13:8) We can scream and yell, but only God’s way works. As I spoke to them with the character of Christ, their hearts began to be touched and they desired to know more about Jesus Christ. Slowly, they began to see the light of the Lord until their lives were completely transformed. A professional once advised me to check them
into a hospital to “detoxify” their bodies. I sat both of them down and said to them, “It will do you no good to detoxify your bodies if your heart and mind have not been ‘detoxified’ by God first.” They agreed.
never believed in the world’s discipline, but I do believe in the discipline of Jesus Christ. To Him belongs all the glory and the honor! We are now a grateful, joyful family in Christ.
After two years, they now serve the Lord in full-time ministry at Victory Life Fellowship of Corpus Christi, where the Word of God is preached to set free anyone who is captive. I thank God for this great ministry and Pastor Jose Luis Flores. My children went from drug addiction to serving the Lord and helping others as they, too, were helped.
I wholly believe Jesus is the answer to any situation that holds your children in bondage. Trust Him. I did!
Parents, please learn to separate the sin from the person that is your child. You must rebuke the sin, but love your child with the love of God in Christ Jesus. I recall a time when a counselor advised me to send my child to a “boot camp”. I have

SOWING IN THE AREA OF
RELATIONSHIPS
People talk about their marriages, “My marriage is not working. I wonder why....” Shouting and screaming at each other every day is not going to produce a good marriage. Beating your husband or wife up is not going to help you. People need to be prepared to put 100 percent into their marriage—not just fifty-fifty. A marriage requires a commitment that gives everything to it.
When you love Jesus, you commit 100 percent to Him. He has control of every area of your life, including your finances. If He’s not the Lord of all, He is not Lord at all. He has to be Lord of every area—your finances, your home, your children, your husband, wife and every decision you make. It is the little things that we do in life that produce the greatest harvest. In a marriage, it is not so much the once-a-year big splash on the town. It’s the small things you do every day—the goodbye kiss when you leave the house in the morning, the one flower that you might bring her or a thoughtful comment. This principle is also applicable in the relationship you have with your children. It’s so important to plant in your children a seed of love. They need to hear every day how much you love them. I do that with my kids all the time. When I have to discipline them, I first tell them that I love them. When they were babies, I used to smother them with kisses. I always cuddled them. Now that they are older, they come running to me in the morning. They so desire to love me. I tell my wife, “I’m reaping for every one of those kisses I’ve sown.” It’s the constant sowing of seed that produces the harvest. The harvest doesn’t come from the one-time gift that you sowed. If you cast your bread upon the waters at all times, it’s going to come back to you on every wave (Eccl. 11:1). When I was about six years old, we lived in a 20

coastal town right on the bank of a river which runs into the Indian Ocean. It was a large river and the tides were very high and would come up to the back wall of the property. So you could just cast a line in and fish. To get me out of the house, my mother used to tell me, “Go out there and wait until my ship comes in.” I would sit there, hours going by, waiting for the ship to come in. Well, one day the revelation came to me. There was no ship coming in because she hadn’t sent one out. I was waiting for something she never sent. If you don’t give anything, you are not going to receive anything. The Bible says, “And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). This is an attitude that has to be burning deep down in your heart. When you sow daily in every area of your life, you maintain an attitude of expectancy. You expect the blessings of God so you can bless others on a daily basis. Let your prayer be, “Lord, make me a blessing, allow me to meet other people’s needs in every area.” All rights reserved. Healing is defined as
the process of curing or becoming well. I don’t think I know anyone that does not desire to walk in perfect health, free from sickness and disease...
GET YOUR BODY
HEALED!
Although there is much to be said on the subject, we are going to focus on what the Bible has to say about healing for your body. First of all, let us settle this: God wants you to be healed. It is His desire that you walk in perfect health. 3 John 1:2 says “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” Psalm 107:20 says “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” Sickness never brings glory to God. God is not laid up in bed in heaven with some rare disease or the bird flu. How can God give out what He himself does not have? God is the giver of life: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” (James 1:17) Life is a gift. Jesus declared boldly in John 10:10, that He came to the earth so that you and I might have life and have life more abundantly. The better shape we’re in, the more abundant life we will live. When Jesus was crucified on the cross, the Bible says that He died for us so that we might be saved. (John 3:16) Saved from what? We were saved from destruction, saved from sickness, saved from eternal damnation, and so much more! The word saved comes from the Greek word sozo, which means deliverance, protection, heal22 March/April 2009
By Diana Morales ing, preservation, to do well, and be made whole. Healing for your body took place at Calvary over 2,000 years ago. “Then why is my body not healed?” some may ask. Laying hold of your healing is like having $1 million in the bank and claiming you are broke. The money is there. It’s as close as the local ATM machine. But, if you don’t get up, go over to the bank, use your bank card, plug in the password and claim your money, that money is not going to come into your hands until you take action. The same holds true for healing. Unless you know what God’s Word says about healing, unless you believe what He has written, confess it daily and claim it for your life, those words will simply be ink on the best selling book ever. Let Jesus come alive in your heart, in your life and in your body today. Let Him walk off the pages of the Bible and into your heart and through every essence of your being. Let Him bring life to you today. It is as simple as doing these four things: 1) Find every scripture in the Bible regarding healing. A couple to start with are Matthew 8:17, 1 Peter 2:24 and Psalm 107:20. 2) Believe that what God has written is true, 3) Confess with your mouth daily that your body is healed, confess the scriptures, speak life over your body, and 4) Thank the Lord that what He did for you 2,000 years ago is now manifested in your body. Today is the first healthy day of the rest of your life!
