More musical Review by Vives Anunciacion
High School Musical 3: Senior Year Directed by Kenny Ortega Starring Zac Efron. Vanessa Hudgens
P
ART one: song and dance. Part two: song and dance. Part three: song and dance.
Here’s more of the same from the Disney Studios — more singing and dancing and Zac Efron, same High School Musical.
napipintong paghihiwalay nila after graduating, particularly for lovebirds Troy and Gabriella. In all three editions,
VANESSA is back as Gabriella choreography ang strength ng HSM at hindi narrative layers.
For example, ang Now or Never ng HSM3 na pinangungunahan ni Efron ay thematically similar sa Get’cha Head in the Game ng HSM1. Bop to the Top sabi nina Tisdale at Gabriella sa HSM1, Fabulous sa HSM2 at I Want it All naman sa HSM3. Ang prom song na Can I Have This Dance at ang piano ballad na Just Wanna Be With You ng HSM3 ay expansions ng When There Was Me and You ng HSM1 at You are the Music in Me ng HSM2. Tinawag man itong Senior Year, hindi ramdam ang pamamaalam ng Seniors, dahil hindi pwedeng idiin ang kabigatan ng College at adult life at gawing mas importante ito kaysa High School (“The best of times, so why leave them behind? Why can’t the rest of my life be like my High School Musical?”). Sabi nga ng finale medley, “Who says we have to let it go? Step into the future, but hold on to High School Musical.” A few years from now, hindi rin nakapagtataka kung magkaroon ng HSM: The Reunion.

What ‘we’re okay’ really mean W
ROMEL M. LALATA, Editor
By the Entertainment Staff
HEN they say they’re okay, it turns out, that doesn’t mean they’re okay okay, as in, live-happily-ever-after okay.
A deeply entrenched source tells Rushes that Karylle and Dingdong Dantes have called it quits. Another insider swears Dingdong has become “too close for comfort” with onscreen partner Marian Rivera. An industry exec rues that, if true, this can do more harm than good to Dingdong and Marian’s upcoming movie, One True Love. The exec says, “It would make Dingdong look like a heartbreaker and Marian, a relationship breaker.” (Hmmm, what if this is a breakup-to-makeup ruse to promote that movie? Hmmm.)
A network mole believes that’s precisely the reason Dingdong is insisting on a joint interview/statement with Karylle—for damage control? Says the source: “What’s the use of a joint interview when his utterances all point to a breakup?” Asked by Rushes via SMS, Dantes replied, “I am still waiting for her.” Hmmm.
Beware, Gay Manager
Making the rounds is an anonymous text message disparaging Gay Manager. It says GM fleeced busi-
ness partners in Los Angeles and one of the Fil-Ams who lost everything as a result is threatening to fly to Manila to expose GM. GM is purportedly in constant need of cash because of many kept boys—including Hunky Model, who’s the boyfriend of Sexy Starlet, and three Fresh Faces who endorse the same clothing brand as HM.

but to Gay Filmmaker. That’s because GF, current favorite of the producer, is CA’s longtime “benefactor.”

World’s first steam washer LG Electronics (LG) introduces the World’s first steam direct washer and dryer. The unit incorporates innovative steam technology in the washing process eliminating germs, dust mites and other small parasites more effectively as compared to conventional washing machines. “LG is expanding its commitment to developing health-conscious products which proactively care for consumer health with the new LG Steam washer and dryer range,” said Mr. Jeff Hong, president and
CEO of LG Electronics Philippines. Steam cleans clothes better than water alone because its molecules are smaller than water molecules, allowing it to penetrate more deeply into fibres. The heat from the steam eliminates germs as
well as dust mites and other small parasites that live in clothes, bedding and other textiles. Proud recipient of the Red Dot Design Award in 2006, the LG Steam Washer and Dryer (WD-1250ARD) is available in all major digital appliance stores in the country.

USOG ka rin ba sa mga kuwento ng kababalaghan courtesy of your lola or yaya?
Wala yatang childhood na kumpleto kung walang mga istorya ng aswang, kapre at white lady from a grown-up desperate to make your behave or put you to sleep. Imagine gathering all these
tales and weaving them with present-day urban legends. So, Balete’s white lady becomes a hit-and-run casualty, the reptile man lurking in this huge mall in the metro is now a police informer and the hottest drag racer in C-5 is a tikbalang. Say mo? The protagonist in this series is Alexandra Trese, a young woman who apparently inherited supernatural powers from her father. Aided by a mysterious duo called Kambal, Ms. Trese takes on underworld characters and helps solve crimes na ’di mawari ng mga pulis. Kumbaga, kapag may krimen
Aside from her powers, the lady protagonist also calls upon her arsenal of supernatural creatures to help solve the case. It takes a lot of imagination and creativity para makagawa ng ganitong uri ng mga kuwento. Imagine weaving the creatures of lower mythology in Pinoy culture gaya ng tiyanak at nuno sa punso. Ingenious po. Seriously.

Rita offers eight very important pieces of advice on how people should reach out to grieving parents. From her vantage point, malinaw niyang naipaliwanag na malaki ang naitutulong kapag pinag-iisipan muna ng nakikiramay ang sinasabi at ginagawa k a p a g h u m a h a r a p s a n amatayan. While the death of a child is probably the most intensely painful experience, friends and even family are oftentimes not equipped to offer solace to parents.
Kasi nga, how many of us make buffoons of ourselves dahil nagsasabi nang kung anuano na walang pakundangan sa damdamin ng nawalan? For each piece of advice, Rita shares an incident to illustrate her point. May isang portion ng libro where Rita, after pointing out these errors or social mishaps, admits she also “failed” to understand where the people who committed them where coming from. This shows a degree of maturity that only comes from surviving great tragedy. Ang bottomline, what Rita asks from the rest of us is a little kindness and understanding. The one who condoles may not bring back the person lost, pero malaking bagay para sa namatayan if the offering of sympathy comes with sincere goodness and grace.

India a rising boxing power
NATUMBOK
GUADALAJARA, Mexico—Make way for India as an emerging superpower in the world of amateur boxing. Once a laughing stock in the sport, India made a successful follow-up to its success in the Beijing Olympics when light-flyweight Nanao Singh Thokchom outboxed Russian favorite Grigory Nokolaychuk, 15-5, to pocket the gold in the light-flyweight division as the inaugural AIBA World Youth Championships drew to a close Saturday. The Indian dynamo was the lone Indian to make the finals of this slugfest. Earlier, middleweight Vijender Kumar gave India its first Olympic medal by winning the bronze in the Beijing Olympics.
“I hit him with a right straight, and I saw he got cut big,” sabi ni Donaire matapos ang bakbakan.
“I needed to switch to southpaw, as I injured a left finger in the second round. Salven L. INDIANAPOLIS—There will be no repeat of the Boston Celtics’ 12-0 start last year. The Indiana Pacers made sure of that. Danny Granger scored 20 points as the Pacers tripped the Celtics, 95-79, in the NBA on Saturday, ensuring the defend-
ing champions will not make a repeat of last year’s 12-match winning streak to open the season. Boston fell to a 2-1 record in the new season, falling prey to their 24 turnovers. Boston also only managed 21 of 35 from the free-throw line.
In Denver, Kobe Bryant scored 33 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 104-97 win over the Nuggets. The Lakers almost became the first team in three years to hold Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony to single digits. Inquirer Wires

“They (players) were uninspired before,” aniya. “It was like we were not a whole team then.” “I’m very happy with the streak,” ani Duremdes. Musong R. Castillo
