“Migration can and should be a tool to help lift us out of this economic crisis. Now, more than ever, politicians and policymakers need to cooperate across borders. Only in this way can we draw the greatest
possible development benefits from migration,” ani Ban sa kanyang talumpati.

Ani Dee, tinawagan niya si Lagdameo, sinabing “One statement that you made which we cannot accept—and will never accept—is that we need a new government.” Aniya, wala sa tamang panahon ang naturang panawagan “Your statement is creating havoc. RP pugs coming home sans medals but with bags full of experience By Dennis U. Eroa GUADALAJARA, Mexico—Light flyweight Gerson Nietes Jr. and lightweight Rolando Tacuyan bowed to superior rivals and abruptly brought the curtains down on the Philippine campaign in the First International Boxing Association (AIBA) Youth World Championships Tuesday at the Lopez Mateos Gymnasium here. The 16-year-old Nietes never found an answer against Uzbekistan´s Jasurbek Latipov and lost, 17-6, while Tacuyan allowed Japanese Kenki Toda to dominate the bout in the first three rounds to fall, 12-8. Welbeth Loberamis
(flyweight), Aston Francis Palicte (bantamweight) and Glicerio Catolico III (featherweight) earlier bowed out of the tournament among the world’s best young boxers aged 17-18. Overall, the Filipinos, who trained in Havana, Cuba for almost a month before the tournament, won three bouts with Loberamis, Nietes and Tacuyan surviving their opening assignments. Nietes admitted he was frustrated by his failure to crack the solid defense put up by Latipov. Like Nietes, the power-punching Tacuyan fell behind early against Toda and
needed a solid fourth round to reduce the margin of victory by the Japanese. Latipov and Toda made it to the quarterfinals and need just one more win to secure a bronze medal. Latipov meets Aliaksei Haletsich of Belarus while Toda battles Raymond Moylett of Ireland. Cuban coach Dagoberto Rojas Scott left the venue immediately, but assistant mentor Elmer Pamisa said the nationals will use their spare time to spar with boxers from the countries before going home. “We need to gain more experience and exposure,” said Pamisa.

“Edwin Valero, the unbeaten destroyer of so many tuk tuk drivers far and wide, is joining (De la Hoya’s) camp in Big Bear as a sparring partner,” sabi ni Michael Marley sa boxingconfi-

na makaharap si Pacquiao. “Is this really a big deal?” ani Marley. “I suppose so for a oneday publicity hit but the freeswinging Valero is not exactly a carbon copy of Pinoy idol Manny Pacquiao in the ring.” Francis TJ Ochoa

Silence the Gastos Gang with BayanWIRELESS Landline Beware, the notorious Gastos Gang is on the loose. With every cellphone call you make, the Gastos Gang can pop out of nowhere, clinking their giant peso coins and chanting: "Sige, gastos. Gastos lang ng gastos!" The Gastos Gang voices out the sentiment of Filipinos who are tired of overspending on metered cellphone calls. They proclaim what's on your mind in these increasingly hard times-that P6.50 a minute is too much to pay for a cellphone call. Luckily, one mobile device is set on silencing the Gastos Gang for good: The bayanWIRELESS landline. The bayanWIRELESS landline marries the mobility of a cellphone and the unlimited calling feature of a landline at a price that's more affordable than most cellphone plans. By switching to bayanWIRELESS landline, Filipinos can cut their cellphone bills by up to 50%. This means less worrying about gastos and more time talking with family members, friends, coworkers, bosses, or anyone else that matters. The chance to cut their bills in half stems from value options available to bayanWIRELESS landline subscribers. There is the lowest P499 Basic Wireless option, where for as low as P17 a day, subscribers can enjoy unlimited calls to landlines within the same area code as well as unlimited Bayan-toBayan texts nationwide.
Similarly, subscribers to the P699 Best Value option can make unlimited calls within the same area code. It also has unlimited Bayan-to-Bayan calls and texts nationwide. An additional perk is a free P100 monthly load for NDD and SMS services. It also offers the lowest IDD and NDD rates, allowing for longer talk time with contacts abroad and anywhere in the Philippines. Bayan Telecommunications has packed all these great features into the affordable bayanWIRELESS
landline to bring the voice of Filipinos back. Because unlike metered cellphone calls that are plagued by "Gastos!" chants, bayanWIRELESS landline gives you all the time in the world to say what you really want to say without burning a hole in your pocket.
