Narrative Report:
After 1 year of monthly support given to 110 old people both in Danka and Samerro, these people are very thankful for the little amount they can look forward to add to the little they have. They buy grains to augment to what they have in order for the family members to have a meal at least once a day. However, during this recession time affecting the whole world especially the developing countries, food becomes insufficient in order to support the whole family. The poor are always the one who are carrying the burden ofthe effects of global food crisis. Many of these poor old people would come to the clinic hungry and sick. With the little amount that the clinic has acquired from private donors, these old people are supported for their medicines. During this rainy season, every poor family is suffering from hunger as they wait for the time they could harvest their grains. It is also a very difficult moment for the old people who have no proper homes because of the rain and cold they are experiencing. Every one of these old people is thankful for the blankets they have received during Christmas, yet there are still others who are waiting to receive if this will be available to them. The Sisters are trying to work hand in hand with the families ofthese elderly people by giving them vegetable seeds so that the families can grow them in their backyards and have something to harvest for their food. Some of these they can sell to the market if they have some surplus. This is working quite weIl to give nutrients to their diet. We try to help more by renting oxen for them ifthey have bigger plots. We are thankful to OUD IN AFRIKA for giving us a closer look to the lives of these elderly people in our area who otherwise are the most neglected members of our society. Thank you for the help the elderly people are eagerly looking forward to as we come to visit them in their homes regularly. The prayers of these poor people are conveyed to you and your loved ones.
