The Nicola Fire Base is welcoming additional personnel from Ontario & New Brunswick to supplement BC fire crews while they fight the 3 large fires in West Kelowna. Another fire broke out yesterday near Lillooet. After these couple days of rain, the outlook is for a return to hot, dry weather. At 12noon today, fire (including campfire) bans will cover the province, and fire officals ask the public to remain vigilant at all times to reduce the number of human-caused fires, which divert the resources from lightning-caused fires. The Ontario crews arrived in Merritt yesterday, and are expected to stay for 14 days. Among the staff are 120 initial attack firefighters, and 2 agency representatives. They’ll be used to action small fires, caused by lightning. An air attack officer mentor from New Brunswick will also join the crews today, and is expected to stay for 2 weeks as well. All deployments are co-ordinated through the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre (CIFFC). Costs of this deployment are being paid by the Ministry of Forests and Range, Wildfire Branch. This year, BC has sent crews to four other jurisdictions. This is the second time this season that British Columbia has asked for crews.

I know shame on me for leaving my door unlocked, but this is the 2nd time lucky for you, I hope you got your thrill and I hope you feel real good that you took something that these kids worked hard for standing out in the HEAT!!! and are having a great party a their expence, and I hope you are enjoying my Ipod as well !! Cariboo Buckaroo

Theatre skam’s Cariboo Buckaroo kicks off its Cariboo-Chilcotin tour with a performance at Quilchena Hotel on Sunday evening, 7:30pm. The play follows the trail of an 1860s cattle drive, as it makes its way north to the goldfields. Enroute, the vaqueros driving this beef train encounter plenty of hardship, a little magic and surprise, and plenty of beans! It’s a performance for all ages.
