1. New Jersey Blood Services We need to vote on whether or not to bring back the New Jersey Blood Services for the spring semester. There were a couple of bad experiences with the new blood drive for the fall semester, though they had less people waiting and received 92 units of blood. A major factor for bringing back NJBS or not is bed side manner. Although some people did not like the spring semester blood drive because of this, similar complaints arose from those who gave blood in the fall semester with the new blood drive. Other issues discussed were NJBS’s point reward system and that NJBS is not NJ exclusive. The motion was passed to bring New Jersey Blood Services back with 1 opposed and 1 abstained.
2. Food Bank
There’s a food bank donation box in every campus. Proceeds go to Hillside food bank. Non perishable food only.
3. Trinitas Clothing Drive
We’re invited to help collect clothing, which is doable for the spring semester. Clothing goes to the needy and isn’t sold. Talk about it in class if you can.
4. Honors In Art
There are 3 rooms that fit our purposes for the art exhibition. Rotunda is the best choice. It could hold 20 to 25 2D pieces. We should explore the possibilities of using partisans. We can only accept a certain number of pieces. The deadline to bring in form should be the end of the semester. We also need more details on the mural.
5. President’s Gala
Saturday October 24th is the President’s Gala. We’ll be representing the chapter and the college. To all those attending, wear black dress pants and shoes and white collared shirts. Also remember to wear your Phi Theta Kappa pins. Don’t take tips for personal gain. Tips go to relay for life.
6. Plainfield Project
There is no need to clean up the campus. Safety is not guaranteed if we decide to clean up any other neighborhoods, but we may be able to partner with other Plainfield groups.
7. Last Minute Points
Mercer County induction is tonight. We’ve been invited to attend. We can help out or attend as guests. Dave is carpooling.
Raritan Valley Community College’s induction is Nov 13th.
Next Meeting: Thursday, October 29th at 12:30 PM in the alumni conference room in the Nomahegan building.
