Lebanon Road Report June 7, 2009 As we enter the traditional “summer months,” we always have a large number of folks away and we are also always blessed with many visitors. Both were the case yesterday. We had folks from many different places with us, including several from our community. We continue to pray that we will have many with us from “near” as well as “far.” 336 were with us for worship yesterday morning. Our lesson focused on the “daily” passages in the Bible, which remind us that we are to follow Christ constantly. The songs we sang were perfectly appropriate and the entire service was uplifting. All who led had obviously thought about their leadership role before our services. At 2:00, four of us led the monthly services at Sycamores Terrace assisted living home. It was my privilege to speak, and I simply tried to encourage those present to remain “planted” as those trees of Psalm 1. At 5:30, our VBS staff met one final time. Our school begins next Sunday night, and we are looking forward to it! (see next page for more inforComing This Week... mation) Monday: Elders, Deacons & Preachers Meet- Finally, we had our evening services. I preached a ing (7:00) Wednesday: singing night (7:00). Friday: Softball triple header (7:00) Sunday: Worship 9AM; Bible Classes 10:20 AM; VBS begins 6:30 PM

Beyond That… June 14-17: VBS (AD 33 Tours)—have you invited others? July 1: Prayer service

sermon entitled “Why Did Uzzah Die?” We tried to examine that interesting—yet, tragic—account from several angles, all showing that Uzzah’s death was awful, but justified. We were reminded to be truly committed in our faith and to constantly press forward pass laziness in our Bible study and in our Christian walk. Our young people finished off the day with a devotional hosted by two families, the Hills and the Thompsons. We’re grateful for all those who are willing to host our young people! Another wonderful Sunday!

LRR page 2 Special Note: VBS VBS at Lebanon Road is a special time. This year, we are writing our own curriculum, entitled “AD 33 Tours: Walking Where Jesus Walked.” Our focus in on the cultural background of four accounts in the life of Christ. Sunday 6:30PM: “Where Was Worship?” (Jesus Cleanses the Temple) Monday 6:30PM: “By the Shore” (Jesus Calls Four Fishermen) Tuesday 6:30PM: “When a Friend Died” (Jesus Raises Lazarus) Wednesday 6:30PM: “A Special Supper” (The Last Supper) Our teachers are working very hard to prepare for VBS and we know it’s going to be a special week. That is also true because we have classes for all ages, including adults, and our speakers for our adult classes are tremendous! On Sunday, Dewayne Bryant of Focus Press will be with us. Dewayne is an archaeologist and writes many articles for think magazine. On Monday, John Dale will be speaking to our adults. John has preached for many years for the Glendale Road church of Christ in Murray, Kentucky, and speaks in many other venues each year. On Tuesday, Jason Moon will be teaching. Jason preaches for the Memorial Parkway church of Christ in Huntsville, Alabama (soon to be the Chase Park church of Christ, as the congregation is relocating). Finally, on Wednesday, Marlin Connelly will be speaking. Marlin taught in the Bible department at Lipscomb University for several years and works with the Bellevue church of Christ near Nashville now. We hope all will attend this great week of study, encouragement and fun. Please make a special effort to attend VBS 2009 at the Lebanon Road church of Christ!
