clear the air challenge This summer, it’s time to come together for a benefit of our most valuable resource - the air we breath. If you haven’t already noticed, air pollution is becoming an unwelcome reality in Utah. But now we have a chance to change that. The Clear the Air Challenge, issued by Governor Huntsman, Mayor Becker and Mayor Corroon, is all about driving less and driving smarter to help reduce vehicle emissions and improve Utah’s air quality for us and for future generations. Go to cleartheairchallenge.org to register and join the MHTN Architects, Inc. group... Let’s see if we can make a difference. Challenge runs from June 1, 2009 - July 10, 2009. Some examples of how to save a trip - telecommuting, flex work schedule (4-10’s), running errands on your way home rather than making a special trip. Please see Don or Kerrie with any questions. significant dates

did you know Seat belt usage by Americans was at 82% in 2007, versus 49% in 1990 and 14% in 1983. Roughly 30% of trash was recycled or composted in 2007, versus 16% in 1990. Air polllution declined 25% over the past 30 years even as the population and the economy grew. Water quality also continues to improve. More progress will occur in coming years as companies see rising value in “going green”. Flexible work schedules are now the norm for 43% of workers, up from 29% in 1992 and 13% in 1985. During the early 1960’s, the five year survival rate from cancer for Americans was one in three. Today, it is two in three and is continuing to climb. . . and is the highest in the world.
