NZ regional town house prices getting unaffordable - Mayors Mayors in some regional towns in the North Island are warning a jump of up to 30 percent in the year to February signals unaffordability for first home buyers.
walk in and you don't have to do a hell of a lot to them," he said.
In some parts of the North Island, there's been a ten-fold increase in house prices since 2015.
In the middle of the island, Ruapehu district was also booming with houses worth about $150,000 a year or so ago now fetching more than $200,000 - and climbing fast.
Wairoa Wairoa prices were up 27 percent in the year to February. Mayor Craig Little said houses worth $40,000 to $60,000 about three years ago were now into the early to mid-six-figure range. He said that made it harder for locals to get on the ladder. "It obviously makes it probably a little bit harder for them to get into a house and if you're already in a house you're sitting on a bit of an asset," he said. Mr Little said rentals were being snapped up just as fast as they were being advertised and there was also a shortage of houses for sale. "There's a couple on the market at the moment for about $180,000 and they're pretty good houses, you can pretty well
Ruapehu Ruapehu District Mayor Don Cameron
Local mayor Don Cameron said investors were getting in on the action. "For instance, last year one person bought 12 homes in Ohakune - and some are rented, and some are on Bookabach - that is pretty unusual I have to say - but I could probably tell you that there are people looking for opportunities with our booming tourism market," he said. However, Mr Cameron said it was getting to a point where the houses were becoming too expensive for locals who want to buy. He said iwi were looking into affordable housing. "Iwi are just quietly going about, obviously getting quite a bit of land
Kawerau, Wairoa and Ruapehu are all rising fast in the latest QV figures. through their treaty settlements and looking to build homes on those areas," he said.
Kawerau In Kawerau, south-east of the hot Tauranga market, prices were also up nearly 30 percent in a year. Mayor Malcolm Campbell said the town was having a growth spurt after two or so years of house prices tracking up.
But he doesn't think prices would get out of hand. "I've lived here all my life - I've got most of my investments tied-up in this town - and that's what you want... I don't think we're going to be anywhere near unaffordable," he said. He said retirees from the bigger centres were downsizing and buying cheaper homes, giving them the chance to leave some cash in the bank. - RNZ

Mahashivaratri celebrated all over New Zealand Members of the Indian community thronged the temples across the country on the occasion of Mahashivaratri on Monday 4th March. People line up at the temple gates from early morning around 5 O’clock to pay their obeisance’s to Lord Shiva on his birth day. Auckland, which hosts most Indian population was the place of most action as well. Most Indian temples in the town were busy from early morning with devotees queuing up to offer milk and water to Lord Shiva. Due to some difference in the time zone of India and New Zealand there was a small confusion about the day, but most temples observed it on Monday. The oldest temple of New Zealand, Bharatiya Mandir was once again the main place of action. People started coming to temple from early morning as Monday being a working day for most people, everybody wanted to catch up a glimpse of Lord
Shiva and offer milk and water to him. Over 5000 people visited Bharatiya Mandir on Shivaratri day. Mandir opened its door for the people from 5 o’clock on 4th March morning and was opened throughout the day and the whole night of 5th March. People were coming even at the middle of the night and after that as well till the wee hours of 5th March. Mahashivaratri is the biggest day on the calendar of Bharatiya Mandir with maximum number of people turning up, to the temple. It was a mammoth task for the kitchen volunteers of Mandir to prepare food for over 2000 people which was done ably by a dedicated team of
kitchen volunteers who relentlessly worked for hours preparing the food and serving to the crowd of devotees. The queues seemed never ending but volunteers were happy serving them all with a smile on their faces. An estimated 2200 people had ‘prasad’ or the food at the temple on the day. There was a TV crew also in the temple from TVNZ, to capture the action on the biggest and busiest day on the Mandir calendar, to film the last part of their shoot as they are making a documentary
on different religions being practised in New Zealand. TVNZ crew have already shot at the temple previously and wanted to finish it off with the big day event, hence they decided to do it on Mahashivaratri day. The TVNZ crew was amazed to see the massive crowed of the devotees gathered at the temple and also to see how smoothly the whole arrangements did go. Temple management committee held a draw of a fund raiser raffle, on the day. Two lucky devotees won return tickets to India and Fiji as first & second prizes.
Shanti Niwas members get their own vege-patch at Bharatiya Mandir kitchen garden run by ENVIRO Group Members of Shanti Niwas Charitable trust took part in a joint workshop session which was conducted on Wednesday 27th February, at the kitchen garden run by the ENVIRO Group at the back of Bharatiya Mandir.
This workshop was conducted by the convener of the ENVIRO Group Mrs Sudesh Mittal along with Richard Main, the retired horticulturist from Unitech, who is associated with this Auckland Council supported project from its inception. Mrs Mittal says she
is now aiming to involve more and more community people, both young and old in her movement. Some 25 members of Shanti Niwas who come to attend Drop in Centre every Wednesday & Friday of the week, took part in the workshop
along with some members of Chinese Association Epsom. They were all briefed by Mrs Sudesh Mittal about her project. Later Richard showed the member as how to sow a plant and explained the nitty gritty of how to successfully
develop your own kitchen garden and how to take care of plantation. Later with the aim to take ownership of the Shanti Niwas member’s involvement in this community project, Shanti Niwas programme Co Ordinator Jyoti Parashar requested Mrs Sudesh to allocate a garden patch for the Shanti Niwas members to look after, which she readily agreed. All the members were very
happy and excited to be a part of the workshop and seemed to very thrilled on making their hands dirty while doing the cleaning and planting new saplings on the occasion. They now intend to spend some time on both the days of drop in centre, at the garden patch to grow different types of vegetables and to look after the vege patch allocated to them.

Scammers steal
several thousand from two elderly victims ONEHUNGA POLICE Constable Don ALLAN
[email protected]
Police are encouraging members of the public to be vigilant after seeing an increase in the number of reported scams over the last 12 months. These scams have ranged from IRD scams, sextortion, tradesman and bank scams just to name a few. It two separate incidents, elderly people were scammed out of several thousands of dollars by criminals this year. In the first scam, a resident received a telephone call from a person claiming to be ringing on behalf of the IRD. They stated that the victim owed $6000 in unpaid taxes, and that they would be sending the police around to arrest them if their overdue account was not paid in full. The resident was then directed to purchase ITunes gift cards then pass on the redemption code to the scammer. This incident resulted in the elderly resident of being scammed out of $6000. In the second scam, and elderly woman was allegedly scammed out of nearly $9000 by fake tradesmen who claimed that they would fix her roof after scoping her neighbourhood for work. The Conmen managed to get this resident to pay up-front prior to the commencement of any work, however fled the address after a concerned neighbour arrived at the home and began asking questions of the con-men.
Unfortunately these types of scams are all too common. They are designed to target elderly people who are the most trusting, and are not always mobile enough to check on the quality of contractor work. Do not do business with people who door knock or canvas your neighbourhood for work Only employ tradesmen or handymen that you can trust and that have been recommended to you. Do not be pressured in to making a decision about hiring someone, if they are genuine, they will be happy to wait until you have made any decision and sought advice. If you receive a phone call from someone claiming that you have won a lottery, owe money or your your computer needs fixing, don’t be fooled. Scammers will use a variety of techniques to gain access to your money and personal information; they can come across genuine and professional so bear this in mind. Don’t provide personal information over the telephone to anyone. Your information can be used to access your bank accounts, your computer, or other information that can be used to incur debt or accounts with businesses. If you think you have been scammed or have information about a scam, contact the police immediately and report the scam to www.netsafe.org.nz, Netsafe also has a range of information for Parents, Staying Safe online and online bullying advice.

Climate change protest

been held on a school day.
Labour and Green party MPs supporting next week's school strike for action on climate change are being careful not to encourage students to wag classes to protest.
He said the protest could have been timed to coincide with the upcoming strike by secondary school teachers on 3 April. Mr Bridges said a small proportion of school children closely followed climate change and he doubted anyone would contest their participation in the strike.
The strike scheduled for Friday 15 March is part of an international day of action and organisers are expecting thousands of young people to participate. The protest includes a march on Parliament and it's clear that Labour and Green MPs are supportive of the strike while National Party MPs said it should not be happening on a school day. Green Party co-leader and climate change minister James Shaw agreed immediately when asked on TVNZ's Q and A programme on Monday night if students should leave classes to protest next week. Education Minister Chris Hipkins said it was up to schools to decide how to handle the strike. Agriculture minister Damien O'Connor said he would be happy for his children to go on the strike. National Party leader Simon Bridges said climate change was an important issue, but the strike should not have
National Party education spokesperson Nikki Kaye said government ministers should not be encouraging students to participate. "The main thing is that parents have given permission, otherwise we may have unsupervised kids, 12 or 13 years old, in the streets." Ms Kaye said ideally the strike would have been held outside of school hours. National Party MP Judith Collins was dismissive of the protest action. "Their little protest is not going to help the world one bit," she said. The former environment minister, Nick Smith, said the cause was good but a strike was not the best option. Ms Handford said more schools were supporting the strike than opposing it and it appeared likely that thousands of young people would participate. -RNZ

Auckland Mayor Phil Goff seeks Second Term Auckland mayor Phil Goff has confirmed he'll seek a second term. In a campaign announcement addressed to the media on Sunday, at the Mt Albert War Memorial Hall, Mr Goff said being reelected would allow him to continue the work he had set the foundation for. He pledged to reject unnecessary rate rises, while trying to balance that with seeking revenue for the city. The election is in October. Former MP John Tamihere and former Auckland mayoral candidate John Palino have also announced they will run for the position.
"It's about our environment - things like water quality, stopping Kauri dieback, eliminating predators, creating great open public spaces for Aucklanders." He also pledged to continue tackling traffic congestion, completing city-rail link and building cycle and walkways, as well as making sure the infrastructure for housing is in place.

"I'm proud of the fact we are now building at the highest levels ever in terms of new building consents." He said he would reject unnecessary rate increases, while trying to balance that with seeking revenue for the city.
Mr Goff won the mayoralty in 2016 on the back of promises to tackle issues over housing, transport, the environment and he also pledged to restore public confidence in the management of ratepayer money.
"Constantly I'm told to push the rates up. I've resisted that and will continue to resist unreasonable rate increases."
"Elections come and go, but the big issues facing Auckland remain the same."
"We will deliver the things we need for Auckland to be a world class city."
But he said for decades there had been underinvestment in the city and there needed to be catch-up.

Viscount School in Mangere celebrates Golden Jubilee with exuberance & fun
Shirley Hardcastle (Acting Principal)
Viscount School in Mangere celebrated its 50 year of its existence on 23rd February with lots of fun and gaiety. It was heartening to see the involvement of the local community with families coming over to take part in the day long activities organised in the school on this occasion. Viscount School was started in year 1969 with 14 teachers and 264 students
Anjali Gulati (Director of Learning) and Babara Woods (Deputy Principal)
and peaked to its number to over 800 students which has slightly dropped down now temporarily, due to some local factors. Viscount School caters for students in Years 1 to 8. The school roll has grown and includes children from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Twelve percent are Maori children and 81 percent come from Pacific nations, with the largest groups being Samoan and Tongan. A significant number of children speak more than one language, and many are new learners of English. Over the last two years there have been significant changes to school governance and leadership. The Ministry of Education (MoE) appointed a Limited Statutory Manager during August 2017 to oversee curriculum management
Justin and Mr. Yugal (Editor)
and advise the board on policies and procedures. All trustees resigned their positions during September 2017. The principal retired from teaching at the end of the 2017 year. The MoE has appointed an acting Principal in January 2018 till the new Principal takes charge. School’s current Acting Principal Shirley Hardcastle says that plans are in place to double up the size of the school in next couple of years to accommodate the growing number
of students and providing various sports facilities at school. She proudly said our students are doing very well in their chosen fields of careers and many student have even played at national level sports .She is being ably supported by Barbara Woods, deputy Principal, Leigh Stevens, Director of Learning, and Anjali Gulati, Director of Learning.
Leigh Stevens (Director of Learning)
The Golden Jubilee celebration programme started at school ground at 10 in the morning with blessings and Kapa Haka, which was followed by various school and community groups programmes. The programme went on throughout the day and ended up at three in the afternoon with the performance from a band of school students.

IMMIGRATION WOES
THE HARD ISSUE - Whose gain and whose loss? case, has breached our standards in a very big way. Traditionally, immigration policy was designed to enhance the sovereign autonomy of New Zealand at the expense of all other values, but the government has not intercepted this situation the way it should have been. Today, our honesty in extending those invitations to international students in the world is eroding – being seen as double standards.
• Mr. Anil Sharma
Secretary, New Zealand People's Party Like a huge river that is slowly flowing through valleys, feeding rivers and tributaries and depositing its silt to carve new landscapes, immigration is reshaping New Zealand’s present and future - not just its weave, texture and feel but also its entire economic, social and cultural demography. Immigration may undoubtedly be one of the biggest challenges that is being faced by the country today. Ironically, defining ourselves as a nation of immigrants, we also view immigration as a threat. Immigration arouses a great subject of debate and most New Zealanders are quite ambivalent in their response when it comes to this question. Whether it is a yes or a no to immigration? – there is still no clarity. In 2015 and 2016 India was the biggest source of migration-driven population growth, contributing net gains of more than 12,000 in each of those years. In the 12 months to June migration added another 64,995 souls to this country’s population, according to Statistics NZ, which while still hugely high by historical standards, was down by 10.1% from the net gain of 72,305 for the 12 months to June 2017 and down 5.9% compared to the net gain of 69,090 in the 12 months to June 2016.
New Zealand has invited millions of students to come here, transforming our economy is the first bit of credit we can give them. We are making a lot of money in New Zealand by selling our education to the world. It is nearly a $5 billion industry.
The case of the 8 Indian students who have been deported from New Zealand with no decision made so far on their
We are then contradicting our stand by not advocating the security of this spectrum against illegal work practices, ensuring proper wages and preventing their exploitation. Students in the hope of their future getting sorted, find themselves at the crossroads in jobs which largely spell uncertainty and add to the insecurity of their decision “to stay” or “to leave” being subject to more exploitation - a vicious non-ending cycle.
Migration patterns are changing.
We will face an ethical and moral backlash at some point because of the games we are playing with the lives of not just individuals but families at large.
A lot of individuals and families come here to genuinely get a highquality work life balance - and they want to come to the safest, most trustworthy countries. We need to uphold the image of this nation – and our integrity. Current immigration trends threaten New Zealand’s portrayal of the most fundamental values of a "social contract", the promise that we give people when we invite them to come and live in our country. We are not saying that we take a soft stand on wrong doings, but we formulate tougher laws limiting who can enter, work, and claim welfare benefits. Past performance with dilly dallying and not taking a conclusive decision have not succeeded in allaying the public's anxiety and fears.
The numbers for immigration have fallen dramatically, with a net gain of just 6816 in the 12 months to June last year, down 43.8% since the same period two years earlier. That has mainly been caused by a sharp drop in the number of students coming from India to study here, and by a lesser degree in fewer Indians coming on residency visas. In the 12 months to June 2016 10,133 Indian citizens arrived on student visas, but by the 12 months to June last year that number had declined by 37.5% to 6334. New Zealand People’s Party has frequently expressed concerns for the migrants and immigration based on our present scenario. Our New Zealand People’s Party leader, Roshan Nauhria has on several occasions characterised the under estimation of the skill sets that immigrants bring to our country. He has repeatedly voiced serious views and expressed concern at the increase in the number of applications that have been declined or are constantly over scrutinised because of the ethnicity of the applicant especially if they are from Asian countries. The matter is serious. If we continue this blind eye policy, there is real danger we will be inundated with crisis with seriously large consequences.
Applicants should not be on temporary visas and uncertain promises living in New Zealand. A permanent decision conveyed to them before they leave their original country of residence, will induce a sense of fairness, with skilled people open to accepting our "offer" to come here if they do not have better offers at home or elsewhere. We have to work towards encouraging easier, faster naturalization, which other nations have achieved. Not only must we secure the legitimacy of the process by making it a speedy, reliable process for genuine applicants, but also improve the accuracy and fairness by uprooting the malignancy internally. One might have expected the country of immigrants with a racial, ethnic, and national mix to have ideal numbers of representation politically to address their issues. Yet somehow, despite the source countries populations in large numbers in New Zealand, we are not yet sufficiently numerous to secure the seats politically. And a serious effort to create a balance is required. We need more political representation in the Parliament as a universalistic call of the hour. NZPP has requested more people particularly the youth to join the party and as the new members naturalize and then organize politically to defend their group interests, change will happen automatically and gradually start becoming entrenched in the system.
The two most important questions we need to ask are –
1. Do we need more Skilled Talent? If no, we close immigration gates till further requirement. If yes, which is quite obvious, (and our economists can explain) - What kinds of talent should we seek?
2. How do we attract this pool of skilled talent to come to New Zealand and stay? For this the applicant should be screened from the country of their residence with the point system ranked according to their education, labour skills, language fluency, and other factors conducive to successful assimilation. This process should not be happening after landing here, on the shores of uncertainty. Our current system suffers from some endemic discriminative problems.
Meanwhile, our government continues to receive the revenue generated by the industry, immigration agents and advisors continue to charge their fee to get their fair share from the pie, employers continue to exploit workers, private training and educational institutions continue to operate in the country, unlicensed establishments continue to attract Indian students to study abroad, while the most vulnerable migrants continue to have their reputation and lives shredded. A plague and a disease called immigration has entered the country and has started wreaking havoc. It is a matter of time before we find out the magnitude of the colossal damage Whose loss will it be anyway?
NZPP is travelling the length and breadth of the country to address and hear problems related to Immigration and Law and Order. The party leaders will be holding meetings in Tauranga, Hamilton, Hastings and Napier to talk to people and discuss the solutions to their woes.

Capital Gains Tax will hit
many New Zealanders • Mr. Kanwaljit S Bakshi
National List MP based in Manukau East and is New Zealand Parliament’s first Indian Sikh Member When it comes to a Capital Gains Tax, very few New Zealanders will be bystanders. The Government’s Tax Working Group’s recommendations reach deep into our lives for a bigger clip of the ticket. It would do that by imposing one of the highest rates of Capital Gains Tax in the world, allowing the Government to reap $8.3 billion extra in its first five years from ordinary Kiwis. Very little escapes its net - small business owners, farmers, investors, bach and lifestyle owners would all be hit. Even the family home could be carved up for tax purposes, with Inland Revenue taking an interest in your boarders and even your flatmates. After 10 years, the Government would be taking an extra $6 billion annually from Kiwis. The Capital Gains Tax will act as a
massive disincentive to save, invest or build a productive business. The Government would literally be taxing our prosperity. But we think the tax burden should be reduced, not increased. The Prime Minister claims this tax is about fairness. That doesn’t cut it.
How is it fair on the small business owner who works hard building up their business, pays tax every single year, who creates jobs and pays wages? The Government would take a third of the nest egg they had intended to live on in retirement when they sell up. If it’s about fairness, then why is an $8 million home in Auckland exempt, but a $350,000 rental in Whanganui, or the West Coast, or Invercargill, gets hammered with a Capital Gains Tax? It is misleading to claim that only the wealthy will pay a Capital Gains Tax. It is the wealthy who can afford good accountants, can move their investments offshore. But it’s the small business owner, your

local plumber or hairdresser, who can’t move their business offshore, and who will end up paying the tax. It is middle New Zealand who will be hit the hardest. It’s also going to impact every single New Zealander with a KiwiSaver account. National doesn’t think that’s fair. We see Kiwis every day in our electorates, working hard, scrimping and saving in order to get ahead for themselves and for their families. Kiwis are rightly worried that a Capital Gains Tax will affect their KiwiSaver, their retirement savings, their small rental properties and their farms. It will affect all Kiwis in some way. National believes in rewarding Kiwis who are working hard to get ahead. Those people who risk their own money to employ others and start a business, we don’t think you should be taxed on your hard work. You work hard all your life, it’s not right that you’re taxed hard before retirement. That’s not fair, that’s not the Kiwi way.
Politics Consultation' needed on timing for CGT law change - Peters New Zealand First leader Winston Peters says nothing is a done deal regarding tax changes, including whether the government passes legislation to implement them ahead of the next election. The government's Tax Working Group recommended a broad capital gains tax and a raft of other changes to the tax system, including environmental taxes and changes to savings taxes, in its report back to the government a fortnight ago. Finance Minister Grant Robertson has long made it clear the government's plan was to pass legislation implementing any tax changes, including a possible capital gains tax, ahead of the next election. That would give New Zealanders the chance to vote on the changes, as it would not take effect until April 2021. The law could be repealed if the government were to change. In response to a direct question about whether the tax changes would be legislated for this term, Mr Peters said "that remains part of the consultation process". "At the end, when we've finished consultation and come to a decision, that question will be able to be decided then, but it's not now." Mr Peters said regardless of what the Prime Minister or Mr Robertson had said, it would still be a matter for consultation. "We don't know where this thing ends up and what its componentry and elements would be. At that point in time, it's not that there is legislation that matters, it's what's in it that matters, surely."

India News Pak F-16 pilots fired 4-5 AMRAAMs at Indian planes from 40-50 km Pakistani fighter pilots flying their F-16 combat aircraft had fired four to five American AMRAAMs (AIM-120 advanced medium-range air-to-air missile) from a distance of 40-50 km at the Indian aircraft including the Su-30 and the MiG-21 Bison. To expose Pakistan further on its claim of not using the F-16 planes while attacking India on February 27, Indian troops on the ground are carrying out an extensive search of probable areas where the debris of the AMRAAMs could have fallen, sources said on Tuesday. “The F-16s fired four to five AMRAAM missiles from a beyond visual range distance of around 40-50 km at Indian planes including the Sukhoi in the engagement on February 27 but they all missed the target,” sources said. “Once we get more parts of the AMRAAM missiles which failed to hit targets and have fallen on our side, the Pakistanis would be further exposed,” they said. The February 27 dog fight between Indian Air Force pilots and
Pakistanis resulted in the shooting down of an F-16 by Indian MiG-21 pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who was the only pilot who fired at Pakistani aircraft from the Indian side in the engagement. The entire operation took place over the skies of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir after the Pakistanis made a failed attempt to target Indian military targets in Nowshera sector. The Pakistani Air Force (PAF) probably had the intention of pounding a brigade headquarters, a battalion headquarters, and an oil dump, sources said. India has already shown parts of one AMRAAM missile fired at Indian planes during a press conference on February 28 and more evidence in this regard would create issues for Pakistan. India has also shown the evidence to the American Defence Attaché in India and has informed him about Indian concerns in this regard.

Chandrababu Naidu has no moral right to continue as CM: Jagan Reddy Chandrababu Naidu has no moral right to continue as Chief Minister after the data theft scandal broke out, YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said on Tuesday. "Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has no moral right to continue as Chief Minister after the data theft scandal broke out in the state. What Naidu has been telling is a rewind of what he told when his involvement in the cash for vote was exposed in 2015," said Reddy. Alleging that the Naidu government and IT Grids have breached Aadhar data which was even objected by the apex court, Reddy asserted: "The data of citizens was harvested by two private companies through the app that the IT Grids developed for the TDP in the name of Seva Mitra. The state government and IT Grids have breached the Aadhar data which was even objected by rthe Supreme Court." Reddy was addressing the Samara Sankharavam meeting which was attended by booth level workers and party supporters here. Continuing his tirade against Naidu, Reddy said: "Besides IT Grids, the Bluefrogs of Vizag have been engaged in the data harvesting. The personal information of all residents of the state has been procured and stored in the servers of the two companies which are being used for political gains. How the confidential data was linked to private companies is a matter of criminal intent." "The heads of the two companies are
very close to Chandrababu and his son Nara Lokesh. This shows how the government has been working along with private players, leaking the confidential data of residents of the state, including bank details and Aadhar number." Claiming that Naidu government has been tampering VVPATs and EVMs, Reddy said: "The names of those who are not in favour of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) are being deleted with the help of two private companies." "When we brought the discrepancies to the notice of Election Commission in Delhi and Chief Electoral Officer in the state, the TDP started levelling baseless allegations against us. When they are caught red-handed and raids took place, Chandrababu Naidu sent Andhra police to Hyderabad following a WhatsApp message and started playing the same old tune when his name figured in the cash for vote. He is using the state police as a personal watchman," said Reddy, adding that the Chief Minister has been misusing official machinery to collect information and use them to their advantage. "Our fight is not only against the TDP but also against bogus pollsters, biased media, money power and unethical practices," he added.

London: Investigation launched after explosive found at transport hubs The London counterterrorism Police on Tuesday launched an investigation after three packages containing explosives were found at various transport hubs across the city. According to London's Metropolitan Police Service, the packages were found at the Compass Centre near Heathrow Airport, Waterloo Station and City Aviation House. The Metropolitan Police Department took to their official Twitter account saying, “We're treating the incidents as a linked series & keeping an open mind regarding motives. Flights at Heathrow & City Airport have not been affected. Train services at Waterloo Station continue to operate. As a precaution, some DLR services were suspended but now fully operational.” Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said in a statement in response to the incident: “I have been fully briefed by the Met Commissioner. The police are treating the incidents as linked but are keeping an open mind regarding the motives.” “I would like to thank officers from the Met,
British Transport Police and other transport staff for their quick response today — the Met has confirmed that nobody has been injured,” the Mayor added. CNN reported that during one instance, the package burst into flames when it was opened, however, nobody was hurt. The first device was found in a package delivered to a building near the Heathrow Airport, around 9.55 a.m. (local time) on Tuesday. Around 11.40 a.m., police were called to the post room at Waterloo station, a major hub for trains to the south and west of London, where the package was not opened but the staff made it safe. The third package turned up about 30 minutes later at City Aviation House, a building near London City Airport, where once again the suspicious device was made safe during the search operations. “While transport services continue to operate as normal, I urge all Londoners and visitors to our city to remain vigilant, and report any potential suspicious packages to the police,” Khan said.

Pakistan takes steps to
de-escalate tensions with India
In its bid to de-escalate tensions with India, Pakistan announced on Tuesday that its High Commissioner to India will return to New Delhi tomorrow, according to a statement issued by Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Sohail Mahmood was called back to Islamabad for consultations in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack, the responsibility for which was claimed by Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-eMohammed (JeM). Mahmood left New Delhi on February 18. "Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India will be returning to New Delhi, after completion of consultations in Islamabad," the statement outlined.
The statement also highlighted that a Pakistan delegation will be visiting New Delhi on March 14 to discuss the draft agreement on Kartarpur Corridor. The Indian delegation is due to visit Islamabad on March 28 for the same. There has been intense global pressure against Pakistan to stop supporting terrorists and terror outfits after India mounted a diplomatic campaign in this regard. Succumbing to this, Pakistan, on Tuesday launched a crackdown against terror outfits, taking JeM kingpin Masood Azhar's brother and son, along with 42 other activists of banned outfits, into "preventive detention".

NZ’s top mortgage & finance advisor Global Finance turns twenty In an ever-increasing world trend of style over substance and immediate gratification, Global Finance is proud to celebrate 20 years. We know building something that offers sustainable value does not happen overnight. It takes years and the support of many. There are always challenges, but as anyone passionate about the legacy they create, the company’s founder and Managing Director, Ajay Kumar considers the effort and energy required to provide award winning customer centric financial services to New Zealanders is worth it. “When I started this business soon after immigrating to New Zealand, I had a vision to support all New Zealanders, who valued financial advice, with my banking and insurance knowledge. I couldn’t understand why there was so little education and knowledge regarding the types of financial instruments like mortgages and insurance that are part of people’s daily life. I wanted Global Finance customers to know more and consequently have better financial choices in their lives.” To be a sustainable long-term financial service business in a small market like
New Zealand means you must do a lot of things differently from your competitors. You must be willing to change and adapt. Despite this, one thing Global Finance have never changed is their reason for being – The Customer. In 2015 Global Finance was one of the first financial service advisory businesses to win “Excellence in Customer Service” at the Auckland Chamber of Commerce and ATEED Westpac Auckland Business Awards. The 2016 awards saw them collect the gong for “Marketing” and in the same year, the inaugural Deloittes Fast 50 Award for “Fastest growing mature business”. The business has gone on to collect more than 40 awards and has been recognised as the best in their industry. “These awards and the many other industry ones we have achieved, have always been on behalf of the customers we serve and because of the customers we work for. Our ability to deliver to the founding vision is only because we have been able to meet our customers’ expectations in a way that is relevant to them. Therefore, through our 2016 branding refresh we landed on the essence of what we strive for on behalf
of the customers – “your best interest”. This seems to contrast with the world of financial services currently but the fact that Global Finance have sustained an average growth in the customers they serve exceeding 25% per annum over the last 5 years with an average NPS (Net Promoter Score) of 75 means they are not just talking the talk but walking the walk too. “We see more customers increasingly experiencing frustration at the lack of service and the inability to get across-themarket advice from traditional providers. We are sure about our experience, expertise and ability to access the breadth of the market and provide the
right advice. Our mantra has become “it’s about advice not price” in the face of large-scale rate advertising that seems attractive but may not be the right option following consultation with the customer and their needs.” Global Finance continue to expand to bring Global expertise local with branches in Airport Oaks, Henderson and Manukau. Tax Working Group delivers the final report The New Zealand Government created the Tax Working Group to consider the future of tax. Chaired by former Finance Minister Hon Sir Michael Cullen, it will provide recommendations to Government that would improve the fairness, balance and structure of the tax system over the next 10 years. It sought input from a diverse and wide range of New Zealanders and ran a two-month public consultation between 1 March and 30 April 2018. In September 2018, the Tax Working Group released an interim report. Final recommendations were released on 21st February 2019 are as under.
Lowering personal income tax The Group has investigated a range of reductions in personal income tax. Its preferred approach is allowing New Zealanders to earn more at the lowest tax rate of 10.5%. This would reduce income inequality, benefit all full-time workers, and support those transitioning into work.
Encourage savings The Group has identified a range of measures to encourage saving, targeting those at lower- and middle-income levels. These include refunding the Employer Superannuation Contribution Tax (ESCT) for KiwiSaver members earning less than
$48,000 a year and cutting the KiwiSaver tax rates for low- and middle-income savers. These reductions would mean that this group would pay less tax overall on their KiwiSaver, even if the income from capital gains on their accounts is taxed. Supporting businesses The Group sees the current approach to the taxation of business as largely sound and sees no case to reduce the tax rate or introduce a progressive scale for companies. However, it is recommending measures to help businesses to grow, be more productive and lower what they spend complying with our tax rules. Further recommendations “Deliberations over extending the taxation of capital gains have taken up a considerable amount of time but our final report is about far more than that single issue,” says Sir Michael. “The report has a strong focus on the environment and recommends better use of taxes to discourage activities that cause negative impacts. We have developed a framework for deciding when such taxes can be best applied. “Transitioning to a more sustainable economy is a long-term project but we are recommending to Government that
increasing the rate and scope of the Waste Disposal Levy; strengthening the Emissions Trading Scheme; and using congestion charging on our roads should be immediate priorities.” Enhancing the integrity and administration of the tax system The Group has recommended several measures to safeguard the integrity of the tax system and improve its administration, which it thinks should be implemented regardless of whether a tax on more income from capital gains goes ahead. • Increased enforcement of closely-held companies as there appears to be a set of integrity issues around their tax affairs. • Inland Revenue’s crackdown on the hidden economy could be strengthened with the introduction of stricter reporting requirements. • A single Government debt collection agency should be established to achieve economies of scale and fairer outcomes for New Zealanders who owe money to the Government.
• A taxpayer advocacy service should be established to help small taxpayers in dispute with Inland Revenue. • Regular reviews should be conducted of the charitable sector to ensure the tax concessions enjoyed by the businesses they run are being put towards the intended social outcomes. “The Final Report represents the end of our work on the Tax Working Group but the national conversation we’ve all been having about tax will continue,” says Sir Michael. “We encourage all New Zealanders to stay involved as the programme of tax reform is developed. Together, we can – and should – shape the future of tax.”

Business Capital Gains and Good News For First Time Buyers The proposal of a Capital Gains Tax (CGT) being brought forward to the government is the biggest tax shake up in the property market. The announcement has caused both celebration and fears across the country. Some surprising and welcomed news for first time buyers as they regain a small increase in first time buyer share in the market.
the “onerous” new tax would hurt the wider economy and raise rents. Those against the suggested tax have said, it would affect the investment property sector and could cause rents to rise further. The Government will decide in April if they will choose to implement the tax, and if implemented would be put forward to Legislation before the next election. The new tax would come into effect on 1 April 2021.
Capital Gains Looking More Likely The Tax Working Group has recommended the Government to implement a capital gains tax, an announcement that has left many divided. The suggested capital gains tax would cover assets such as land, shares, investment properties, business assets and intellectual property, any gains on the sale of these assets would be added to the seller's overall yearly income and be taxed normally at realisation. Other assets – such as the family home, cars, boats and art – would be exempt from a CGT. The Tax Working Group has suggested that the tax gained should be put towards lowering the personal tax rate and to target polluters. The labour government and its coalition partners (the Greens and NZ First) will be assessing the report in the coming months, but many are predicting that the government will implement the recommendations as the CGT was a Labour election promise to
make the tax system fairer and to stall the rising property prices. Supporters for the CGT believe that it is a tax that has been long overdue, as many other countries have already implemented a CGT with positive results. Many believe that the tax could raise over $8.3 billion over the next five years, which could be passed onto the people with a reduction in personal income tax as well as being invested into strengthening environmental laws and regulations. One of the biggest arguments in favour of the CGT is that it will make the market more accessible for first time buyers, as nearly 20 percent of New Zealanders own 80 percent of the assets. Opposition party leader Simon Bridges said the recommendations are “an attack on the Kiwi way of life” and argued that
25 Percent of homes Snapped up by FirstTime Buyers in Auckland Some much welcomed good news for first time buyers in Auckland - Twenty-three per cent of all homes sold in New Zealand
last year went to first-time buyers and in Auckland, they made up for 25 per cent a level not seen since the Global Financial Crisis in 2007, according to a new report by analysts CoreLogic. CoreLogic senior property economist Kelvin Davidson believes that this welcomed change came down to firsttime home buyers having the longevity to "hang in" in the market and being more willing to find ways to buy compared to investors and more specifically in the case of Auckland, the city's job market had more high-paying jobs in banking and legal services, allowing some first home buyers to better compete with other buyers.

India strikes back

A
s anticipated, India retaliated very strongly, after the dastardly attack on the CRPF convoy which martyred 43 CRPF Jawans in most cowardly fashion by Pakistan based, terrorist outfit sponsored suicide bomber. The outrage and the anger among the Indian masses after the attack, was so strong that it did not leave any option for the government except for giving a very hard-hitting reply to attackers and their master-minds and penetrators sitting across the border. The biggest shift was seen in the approach of handling the response. The way Modi responded to it, was unthinkable & unheard off, by any of his predecessors. He did it with a very strong political will, courage and conviction. It was a historic situation where all big powers of the world stood behind India in support without even asking for it. The Modi diplomacy was at its pinnacle where foreign governments were seen warning Pakistan for its any misadventure in response to India’s air strike on terrorist bases inside Pakistan. Indian Air Force took time to do the job with precision on the 13th day after the attack in Pulwama. Despite of Pakistan government, army and ISI playing tactics of befooling the world once again, Indian Intelligence was very precise & accurate. In a very well-coordinated aerial strike, they destroyed the head quarter of JeM and other terrorist training camps in four different locations, 90 km inside Pakistan territory. Strategic experts across the globe believe it is a very strong message from India to its adversaries. It is estimated that over 250 terrorists were killed in the aerial strike, hitting 1000kg bombs. Pakistan, on the other hand despite being warned by America and several other countries, did try to respond to the Indian aerial attack two days later by entering Indian air space which was thwarted by ever vigil Indian Air Force fighters. In this attempt one the IAF Mig21 pilot who chased a Pakistan air force F16 plane to shoot it down, crossed the border and later crashed down due to some technical snag, inside Pakistani territory. Pakistan captured the Indian pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Wardhaman and tried to torture him physically and mentally against the principals & spirit of Geneva accord on captured War prisoners. Pakistan knew that they could not hold the pilot in custody for long and the international pressure Modi government put on Pakistan was so big that they had to release him two days later but not without a drama. Typically, in Pakistan style, they tried to negotiate and put down their terms and conditions for the release which India categorically refused. Pakistan PM Imran Khan failed to get an audience with PM Modi despite calling him several times in one day and after long wait and delays of several hours, freed the pilot through Wagha border in Punjab. The nation rejoiced the return of the pilot and people are now demanding for more stern action on Pakistan, so they do not dare to do it again. Now the question arises as how to control the Pakistan supported terror groups. It is such a close-knit nexus of Pakistani government, which is controlled by its Army, who in turn run and support these terror camps, to export terrorism across the globe. India, being the next-door neighbour has to bear the most brunt. The whole false narrative spread by successive Pakistani regimes over the years about Kashmir issue, to its people, has become a part of their daily life. The main business of Pakistani establishment is to keep bad mouthing and keep spreading false narratives about Indian government and Indian Army. After years of lies, the common man in Pakistan has started believing those false narratives. Today Pakistan is in such a serious financial crisis that they may crumble down any day but their army’s rhetoric’s of being a nuclear state don’t seem to stop. Its high time now that Pakistan starts thinking rationally and sensibly and think about tackling the problems it is facing, instead of continuing to be involved in the dirty game of spreading terrorism which eventually will finish them as a nation. It is neither good for them and nor for peace of rest of the world. Pakistan should also remember that it’s a changed India now which will not take it’s atrocities lying down anymore. - Yugal Parashar

With the chants of ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ and 'Har Har Mahadev,' reverberating the temples across the country, devotees performed the morning rituals of Maha Shivratri on Monday 4th March. Long queues of Shiva lovers were seen at various temples to Him since the break of the dawn. Following the traditional rituals, people were seen offering bael leaves, milk and honey to 'Shivling,' an iconic representation of Shiva- one of the deities of Hindu triumvirate. This year’s Maha Shivratri marks the closing day of the mega holy event Ardh Kumbh Mela. Thousands of pilgrims took the last of the holy dips at Prayagraj's Sangam- a confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers. Bhubaneswar, the ‘Temple City of India,’ welcomed thousands of devotees who thronged the 12th century old Lingaraj temple, which is considered as one of the most ancient and the largest of all the temples. In Mumbai, union minister Piyush Goyal, with his family, performed the Maha Shivratri rituals at Babulnath temple. The minister offered milk and flowers to Shivling. Meanwhile, Shiva temples in Hyderabad organised special prayer ceremonies for Lord Shiva. Speaking with ANI, Sai Kishan, a priest from Hyderabad said, “Special poojas are done to Lord Shiva on Mahashivaratri. From morning 2AM, special poojas are being done for the Lord. Devotees offer prayers and conduct abishekam (ordination) is done to the god and they even offer prayers by fasting for the holy day.”
In Haridwar, Uttarakhand, just like every year, thousands of Shiva followers assembled at the banks of the River Ganga to take a holy dip. The city is considered one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage centres because according to popular legend, it was here that Lord Shiva released the mighty river from the locks of His hair. Shivkhori, the famous cave shrine of Hindus devoted to Lord Shiva, situated in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, was crowded with pious devotees who came to offer prayers to their Lord.In Lucknow, along with performing the usual traditional rituals, devotees paid tribute to Pulwama terror attack martyrs. ‘Khori’ means cave and thus, Shiv Khori denotes Shiva's cave. It is popularly believed that this cave was made by Lord Shiva from his Trishul, and hence holds significance in Hindu mythology. In Varanasi, devotees were seen doling out devotional songs while on their way to a local temple to pay obeisance. Maha Shivratri is considered auspicious for spiritual growth. The festival, also known as 'the great night of Shiva', celebrates the overcoming of darkness and ignorance. It also marks the beginning of spring. Reports of Mahashivaratri being celebrated overseas were also pouring in, as close to a 30 million Indian diaspora community is religiously as strong as it is in India, though there were reports of the confusion on the day of Mahashivaratri due to different time zones and different lunar positions according to astronomic calculations.

We offer expertise in the marketing and sale of a wide range of property, including residential real estate, farms and lifestyle blocks, and commercial and industrial property. Bayleys also provides a complete property and facilities service including property management and valuations teams focused on achieving both Owner and Tenant satisfaction. No other real estate company can match our breadth of coverage across all market sectors throughout New Zealand.
Bayleys Real Estate unveils digital first Bayleys Real Estate launched a new digital advertising service last year that allows it to automatically match properties with likely buyers. Chris Gwin, director of marketing, PR and communications at Bayleys Real Estate, says: “Bayleys is the first New Zealand real estate agency to team up with Facebook and use the social media company's specially developed tool for property ads. “This means that beyond simply retargeting people who viewed a listing on our website, like most
companies do, we use intelligent, automated tool factors in details like the suburb or region a person viewed or other parameters they set for their search such as property type or price, to promote similar listings they may have missed,” says Mr Gwin. Mr Gwin notes that with advancements in technology, real time personalisation in advertising is the new normal. “By working smarter, we can use the power of audience-based advertising (rather than the channel-
based advertising) to improve the experience for both our vendors and purchasers. “Dynamic Product Ads helps businesses efficiently reach the right audience with a relevant message, particularly important in real estate when buyers are considering multiple property listings. Facebook DPA for Real Estate will help Bayleys streamline property marketing and the overall house hunting experience,” says Spencer Bailey, Head of Facebook New Zealand.

The land and buildings involved with a health and wellness retreat established by one of New Zealand’s most well-known fashion designers and, in more recent years, successful social entrepreneur, has been placed on the market for sale. Consisting of five bedrooms, each with their own individual ensuite, the lodge premises sits amidst landscaped gardens and a substantial pond. When trading as a commercial accommodation venue, Te Atawhai commanded rates of up to $2,200 for four-night health and wellness package encompassing yoga, massage, meditation and fitness sessions. Poroti and adjacent Maungatapere contain Whangarei’s most concentrated conglomeration of avocado and kiwifruit orchards - due to the location’s rich fertile volcanic soil base and access to quality irrigation water. The expansive orchard at 412 Whatitiri Road is planted with 2400 trees (Hass on Zutano rootstock), and has a five year average production record of 32,600 trays. The property is fully planted with mature avocado trees covering some 16.82-hectares, with the balance of land made up of access tracks, headlands, orchard infrastructure, and buildings. Now the gently-sloping freehold orchard and supporting infrastructure and buildings at 412 Whatitiri Road are being marketed for sale by auction at 1pm on March 13 through Bayleys Whangarei.

There seems to be more choice for property hunters in the Auckland region, as new properties coming to the market are up while asking prices stay static, but Kiwis’ passion for property remains strong. Eight regions (Waikato, Gisborne, Wellington, Nelson and Bays, Otago, Southland, Central North Island and Manawatu/Wanganui) are experiencing an all-time asking price highs and this seems to be the major driving force behind a new record high for New Zealand’s average asking house price. Unfortunately, Auckland is not one of those regions. The national property asking price in January 2019 climbed 3.3% on the previous month to $695,116 - the highest on record. While total housing stock across the nation was down 2.5% when compared to January 2018, in the Auckland region stock was up 4.6% with a total of 9,081 homes on the market. Of these 9,081
homes, 2,420 were new listings, which is a 12.1% increase on January 2018. The average asking price in the Auckland region was flat (a slight increase of 0.7% to $960,482) when compared to December 2018.
The national median price for residential properties increased by 5.8% from $520,000 in January 2018 to $550,000 in January 2019. Auckland’s median house price in January of $800,000 was the lowest we’ve seen for 35 months with falls across Franklin, Rodney, North Shore and Papakura districts during the month ranging from -0.7% to -13.2%. However, Auckland City, Manukau City and Waitakere City all saw annual increases of between 1.5% and 9.5% showing that there are pockets of growth occurring across the region. December and January usually see prices decline and then pick up again in February and March. Auckland saw
the median number of days to sell a property increase by 6 days from 45 to 51 – the highest number of days to sell in just shy of 10 years – since February 2009. Marlborough had the lowest days to sell of all regions at 33 days, down from 42 at the same time last year. Currently, the Auckland market is favouring buyers, with a fresh injection of new listings, a flattening in the average asking price and a slowdown in
the time it takes for properties to sell. A tip for sellers – Wash windows inside and out, rent a water blaster and spray down drive ways and exterior, clean out cobwebs, polish the floors and vacuum daily, dust furniture, replace worn rugs, hang up fresh towels, bathroom towels look great fastened with ribbon and bows. Clean and air out any musty smelling areas. Odours are a no-no. Make the house sparkle.

Sonam Kapoor
faces Twitter backlash over anti-war stance
Following the Pulwama terror attack and IAF's multiple aerial strikes at terror launch pads at various places across LoC, actor Sonam Kapoor took to her Instagram handle to talk about her anti-war stance, comparing 'average' Indian and Pakistani citizens, saying that it is they who suffer in war, along with soldiers "who are always first in line of a fire they did not ignite." The actor was sharing a post that was originally written by Humans of Hindutva on their Facebook page. However, her comments were not well received by Twitterati, many of who slammed her for the same.

Romeo Akbar Walter trailer: John Abraham looks promising as a patriotic spy
Comparing citizens of both countries, she shared, "The average Indian has more in common with the average Pakistani than he does with a Hindu fundamentalist who wants to bomb in the name of Ram and lynch minorities and rally in support of child rapists." The 'Ek Ladki ko Dekha Toh Aisa laga' star further wrote, "The average Pakistani has more in common with an average Indian than he does with an Islamic fundamentalist who wants to bomb others in the name of Allah and oppress women and put guns in the hands of children." Kapoor went on to opine that ordinary citizens everywhere just want to have a "normal life and go to work and raise their children well and save up for a decent home." According to the actor, Hindu and Islamic fundamentalists "both have loads in common." The 33-year-old actor, condemning war, elaborated upon fundamentalists, saying, "Their minds are poisoned by hate and they both lack empathy for the other side. They both want war and do not care for its consequences," adding, "The cost of this extraordinary hatred of fundamentalists in both countries is eventually going to be paid by the ordinary citizens of both countries and the soldiers who are always first in line of a fire they did not ignite." Most people who have condemned war or taken a stand against violence of any kind have been targeted as anti nationals and their loyalty to their religion and country has been questioned by the war-hungry masses. Looks like humanity has come to a point where they find destruction a better option than peace and people who question this section's intelligence are quickly labelled unpatriotic.
The makers have finally treated the audience with the trailer of John Abraham’s ‘Romeo Akbar Walter’ and it seems like a promising action-packed thriller. Sharing the trailer on his twitter handle, John wrote, “His dharma (moral duty) was to protect his nation against all evils and enemies. Here’s presenting the trailer of ‘Romeo. Akbar. Walter’. In cinemas on 5th April. The 2.46 minute-long trailer opens with Jackie Shroff stating that India is “on the verge of a war with Pakistan”. The dialogue single-handedly explains the background of the film. Directed by Robbie Grewal, ‘RAW’ is set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. And while the story is not specifically based on any one person, it is said to be

inspired by true events. The trailers features John in a ripped and tough avatar, and looks every bit a fighter warrior ready to serve his country against all odds. Jackie Shroff comes as a pleasant surprise in the trailer. His character recruits John’s character and makes him undergo a rigorous training for a special mission, which according to the trailer “could change the course of history for India”. During the video, John’s Character can be seen sporting a number of different looks, apparently, as part of his secret mission. Apart from John and Jackie, the film also features Sikander Kher, Mouni Roy and Alka Amin in pivotal roles and is scheduled to hit theatres on April 12, 2019.

We currently have our third woman Prime Minister. All our key constitutional positions – Prime Minister, Governor General, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Attorney-General and Chief Justice – have been held by women. As a woman Member of Parliament of Indian origin, I also acknowledge the women of colour who have gone before me and the struggles they fought. They are the women on whose shoulders I stand and I mentioned some of them in my suffrage speech in Parliament last year. Our Ministers for Women and Ethnic Communities, Hon. Julie Anne Genter and Hon. Last year, I got the opportunity to speak in Parliament as we celebrated the 125th anniversary of women’s suffrage in New Zealand. It was a particular honour for me partly because I have worked in the women’s rights field most of my life and partly because I chose to move to New Zealand largely because this was the first self-governing country in the world where women won the right to vote. Women’s suffrage marked the end of women’s exclusion from politics. Women voted for the first time in the 1893 elections. That was also the year that Elizabeth Yates became the Mayor of Onehunga (which is in the Maungakiekie electorate where I am based) – this was the first time such a post had been held by a woman anywhere in the British Empire.

For sea food lovers Tandoori Prawns or Fish is a winner. The marinade used for the dish really lifts the taste of the seafood, further enhanced with Punjabi flavours. Marinate overnight for the best results or for at least 4 hours. You will need 6 wooden skewers for this recipe. Soak wooden skewers in cold water a few hours ahead of times so they do not burn during cooking. Place yoghurt, oil, white pepper, salt, spices, ginger and garlic in a bowl and mix it together to form
a marinade. Gently mix prawns or fish through marinade and refrigerate for at least four hours. Thread prawns or fish onto skewers and cook on a griddle plate or barbecue. Do not drench fish or prawns in marinade as they will not cook through fully. Cook on both side until the fish or prawns are fully heated. Make sure you do not overcook fish or prawns- they should remain juicy. Garnish with chaat masala and drizzle with lemon juice.

Sports Kohli, Shankar help India register Federer signs up for 2020 500th ODI victory Dubai C'ships 48. The match tilted in favour of Australia as Marcus Stoinis and Alex Carey stitched a 39run partnership for the sixth wicket. India again retained momentum as Kuldeep sent Carey back for 22.
Virat Kohli’s 40th one-day international century before Vijay Shankar’s twowicket haul in the dead over helped India win the second match against Australia by eight runs at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Tuesday. With this win, India have registered the 500th ODI victory and have also taken a 2-0 lead against Australia in the fivematch series. Man, of the Match Kohli anchored the innings for India after the hosts were sent in by Australia, guiding his side to 250. Defending what seemed a challenging target, right-arm fast bowler Shankar bowled out the visitors on 242 with three balls to spare. As Australian captain Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja were in the middle, it seemed their partnership would steer the visitors to level the series. However, spinner Kuldeep Yadav broke the 83run partnership as he trapped Finch for 37. In the very next over, part-time off-spinner Kedar Jadhav dismissed the settled Khawaja for 38. India got another breakthrough as Kuldeep struck Glenn Maxwell, who returned pavilion without disturbing the scoreboard. Later, Ravindra Jadeja brilliantly run-out Peter Handscomb for
As Australia required 11 runs from six balls, Kohli opted Shankar over Jadhav to bowl the last over. On the first delivery of the over, Shankar dismissed Stoinis for 52, leaving the visitors on 240 for nine. Shankar struck again, cleaning Adam Zampa for two and wrapping up the Australian innings on 242 with three balls remaining. Earlier, Indian captain blazed 120-ball 116, which saw 10 boundaries before he was trapped by fast bowler Pat Cummins. Kohli registered his 40th ODI century, becoming the only second player to achieve the feat after masterblaster Sachin Tendulkar. As openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan walked on to the field, Cummins dismissed Sharma for a duck on the last ball of the first over. Kohli and Dhawan in the middle-recovered India after an early dent. However, offspinner Maxwell broke the 38-run stand as he struck Dhawan for 21. Joining the party, off-spinner Nathan Lyon got a wicket in his kitty in the name of Ambati Rayudu for 18. Shankar, who stepped in when India was 75 for three, stitched an 81-run partnership with Kohli before he lost his wicket in an unfortunate run-out when he was just four shy fifty. India, with a 2-0 lead, will meet Australia for the third ODI at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on March 8.
