Anak • Anak adalah untuk zaman yang akan datang, bukan untuk zaman kita.Salahlah pendidikan orang tua yang hendak memperbuat anaknya seperti mereka juga. ( Hamka). • Peliharalah anak-anakmu dan perbaikilah budi pekerti mereka.Sesungguhnya anak-anak itu adalah hadiah Allah kepadamu. ( maksud hadis ). • Apabila mati seseorang anak Adam, terputuslah amalannya kecuali tiga perkara, sedekah jariah, ilmu yang diambil orang manfaatnya dan anak yang soleh mendoakannya.

Akal • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Apabila sempuran akal, kurang perkataan. ( Saidina Ali Abi Talib).

( Imam Al-Ghazali). Undang-undang adab dan budi pekerti membentuk kemerdekaan bekerja.Undang-undang akal membentuk kemerdekaan berfikir.Dengan jalan menambah kecerdasan akal, bertambah murnilah kemerdekaan berfikir. ( Hamka). ( Maksud hadis ).

Surah At Tawbah (9:118) – Stress, a result of not abiding by religion • ْ‫ضاَقت‬ َ ‫ت َو‬ ْ ‫حَب‬ ُ ‫ض ِبَما َر‬ ُ ‫لْر‬ َ ‫عَلْيِهُم ا‬ َ ‫ت‬ ْ ‫ضاَق‬ َ ‫حّتى ِإَذا‬ َ ‫خّلُفوْا‬ ُ ‫ن‬ َ ‫لَثِة اّلِذي‬ َ ‫عَلى الّث‬ َ ‫َو‬ ‫ل ُهَو‬ ّ ‫نا‬ ّ ‫عَلْيِهْم ِلَيُتوُبوْا ِإ‬ َ ‫ب‬ َ ‫ل ِإَلْيِه ُثّم َتا‬ ّ ‫ل ِإ‬ ّ ‫نا‬ َ ‫جَأ ِم‬ َ ‫ل َمْل‬ ّ ‫ظّنوْا َأن‬ َ ‫سُهْم َو‬ ُ ‫عَلْيِهْم َأنُف‬ َ ‫حيُم‬ ِ ‫ب الّر‬ ُ ‫الّتّوا‬ • And to the three who were left behind, until the earth became strait to them notwithstanding its spaciousness and their souls were also straitened to them; and they knew it for certain that there was no refuge from Allah but in Him; then He turned to them (mercifully) that they might turn (to Him); surely Allah is the Oft-returning (to mercy), the Merciful. M Shakir's Quran Translation

Surah Al An’aam (6:125) – High Altitude Pressure & Stress, a result of n ‫ل صَْدَرُه ضَّيًقا‬ ْ ‫جَع‬ ْ ‫ضّلُه َي‬ ِ ‫لِم َوَمن ُيِرْد َأن ُي‬ َ‫س‬ ْ‫ل‬ ِ ‫صْدَرهُ ِل‬ َ ‫ح‬ ْ ‫شَر‬ ْ ‫ل َأن َيْهِدَيُه َي‬ ّ ‫َفَمن ُيِرِد ا‬ َ ‫ل ُيْؤِمُنو‬ ‫ن‬ َ ‫ن‬ َ ‫عَلى اّلِذي‬ َ ‫س‬ َ ‫ج‬ ْ ‫ل الّر‬ ّ ‫لا‬ ُ ‫جَع‬ ْ ‫ك َي‬ َ ‫سَماء َكَذِل‬ ّ ‫صّعُد ِفي ال‬ ّ ‫جا َكَأّنَما َي‬ ً ‫حَر‬ َ • Therefore (for) whomsoever Allah intends that He would guide him aright, He expands his breast for Islam, and (for) whomsoever He intends that He should cause him to err, He makes his breast strait and narrow as though he were ascending upwards; thus does Allah lay uncleanness on those who do not believe. M Shakir's Quran Translation

• important thing mentioned in the Ayat is that a person who follows the wrong path remains tensed. Numerous psychological researches have proved those people who do not believe in any God are more likely to fall ill. There are many psychological and medical surveys that have been carried out in the past years that potray this fact. Modern medicine is now tending towards the realization of this truth. Without going into the details of the subject I would like to summarize it as Patrick Glynn put it: "Scientific research in psychology over the past twenty-five years has demonstrated that religious belief is one of the most consistent correlates of overall mental health and happiness." (Glynn, God: The Evidence, The Reconciliation of Faith and Reason in a Postsecular World, 60-61)

Surah Al Baqarah (2:219) – Wisdom behind Prohibition of Alcohol, Ha • ‫س َوِإْثُمُهَمآ َأْكَبُر ِمن‬ ِ ‫ل ِفيِهَما ِإْثٌم َكِبيٌر َوَمَناِفعُ ِللّنا‬ ْ ‫سِر ُق‬ ِ ‫خْمِر َواْلَمْي‬ َ ‫ن اْل‬ ِ‫ع‬ َ ‫ك‬ َ ‫سَأُلوَن‬ ْ ‫َي‬ َ ‫ت َلَعّلُكْم َتَتَفّكُرو‬ ‫ن‬ ِ ‫ل َلُكُم الَيا‬ ّ ‫نا‬ ُ ‫ك ُيبّي‬ َ ‫ل اْلَعْفَو َكَذِل‬ ِ ‫ن ُق‬ َ ‫ك َماَذا ُينِفُقو‬ َ ‫سَأُلوَن‬ ْ ‫ّنْفِعِهَما َوَي‬ • They ask you about intoxicants and games of chance. Say: In both of them there is a great sin and means of profit for men, and their sin is greater than their profit. And they ask you as to what they should spend. Say: What you can spare. Thus does Allah make clear to you the communications, that you may ponder M Shakir's Quran Translation

Psychological Harms • It may perpetuate your shyness, anxiety, depression, unhappiness etc. rather than dealing with it. • They allow us to feel a temporary confidence or happiness, but the effect is usually one of borrowed time. Often the unhappiness or anxiety returns even more strongly once the effects wear off. • Drink and drugs can cause psychological problems by themselves. Alcohol can commonly cause depression; drugs can also cause depression, or can trigger anxiety or even psychosis (loss of reality).

Surah Al Baqarah (2:183) – The Psychological, Medical and Social Bene Siyam)

‫ن ِمن‬ َ ‫عَلى اّلِذي‬ َ ‫ب‬ َ ‫صَياُم َكَما ُكِت‬ ّ ‫عَلْيُكُم ال‬ َ ‫ب‬ َ ‫ن آَمُنوْا ُكِت‬ َ ‫َيا َأّيَها اّلِذي‬ َ‫َقْبِلُكْم َلَعّلُكْم َتّتُقون‬ • O you who believe! fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may guard (against evil) • M Shakir's Quran Translation

Character Building • Another benefit of fasting is that it develops our character by strengthening our willpower and bolstering our patience. This is why fasting is sometimes referred to as patience and Ramadan is sometimes called "the month of patience".

Hadith • Narrated Abu hurrairah: The Prophet said, "Whoever does not give up false statements (i.e. telling lies), and evil deeds, and speaking bad words to others, Allah is not in need of his (fasting) leaving his food and drink." We know that Allah has no need for us to leave off eating and drinking in any case, even when we abstain from false words and false deeds. What this means is that fasting has not been prescribed because Allah needs us to do so, it has only been prescribed to assist us in restraining ourselves from false words and evil deeds.

Self-Restraint • If fasting does not awaken in us this consciousness, then it is to no purpose. We must work to cultivate this consciousness. Fasting needs to bring us to the point where we can easily give up sinful deeds like backbiting, spreading rumors, slander, licentiousness, and all ignoble, destructive traits.

Psychological Benefit •

There is a psychological benefit in operation here. Researchers into the causes of success say that success requires three ingredients: 1. Desire: All people wish to be strong, successful, and financially well of. Desires like these exist for everyone. 2. Strength or ability: Most people have the mental and physical wherewithal and the skills that they need to succeed if they properly put their minds to it. 3. Willpower: Strong willpower is one of the greatest reasons for success in both this world and the next. Fasting strengthens the will and conditions a person to cope with difficulties in all aspects of his life. It helps to develop the very quality that only successful people possess, the quality of those people who can turn their desires into a reality by using skills and abilities that they have.

Surah Al Baqarah (2:153) – Medical and Psychological Benefits of Patience ( Sabr) and Prayer (Salat)

َ ْ ْ ّ َ ‫ن‬ ِ ‫َيا أي َّها ال‬ ّ ِ ‫صلةِ إ‬ ْ ‫مُنوا ا‬ َ ‫نآ‬ ّ ‫صب ْرِ َوال‬ ّ ‫ست َِعيُنوا ِبال‬ َ ‫ذي‬ ‫ن‬ َ ‫ه‬ َ ّ ‫الل‬ ّ ‫معَ ال‬ َ ‫ري‬ ِ ِ ‫صاب‬ • O you who believe! seek assistance through patience and prayer; surely Allah is with the patient M Shakir's Quran Translation

Patience • Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim said, "There are three types of patience: Firstly, practicing patience to fulfill the obligations and to do righteous. Secondly, abstaining from evil and prohibited acts. And thirdly, practicing patience during times of hardship without complaints."

Practice in Prayer • ALLAH gave the Muslims a natural way to achieve this: 5 times Prayer. What can be more positive then talking to ALLAH and presenting all your problems in front of him? When a Muslim prays he forgets all the worldly matters and thinks he is standing in front of the Lord of the lords. It helps us to break this stress for a few time and hence reducing its intensity.

Positive thinking • We Muslims thank ALLAH in the prayers. That is from where the prayer starts. • All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds (Surah Fatiha 1:2) • Thanking ALLAH for all his blessings. Positive thinking!! Just as the Prophet advised us in a hadith that in the worldly matters we should look at the person below us. • Surely I am Allah, there is no god but I, therefore serve Me and keep up prayer for My remembrance (Surah Taha 20:14)

Practice in Prayer • In 24 hours, Muslims pray a minimum of 17 obligatory prayers in which they make about 119 poses (7 poses per Rakah). Moreover, the poses are such that people of all ages can perform and it is an exercise that causes no exertion or tiredness instead it earns us an internal bliss. This is the great physiological benefit in prayer as well.

Medical benefits of Prostration • (by Dr.Zakir Naik) • Normally when you stand erect, blood does flow into the brain but it is not sufficient for a healthy brain. During Salah when you go into sujood (prostration) extra blood flows into the brain, which is very important for a healthy brain. When you do sujood, this extra blood supply to the skin on the face [helps] prevent diseases such as chilblain etc.

Research at a Malaysian University •

(See Middle East times or World Wide Religious News WWRN 13 December 2006)

A top Malaysian university has discovered that the postures used during the Muslim prayer, or salat, have significant physical benefits, according to a report. Initial results from a research project by University Malaya's biomedical engineering department show that the Muslim style of praying benefits the heart and spine, while increasing the capacity for memory and attention. Muslims pray five times a day, with each salat beginning in a standing posture, followed by a deep bow and then progressing to a sitting position on knees. The person then touches their forehead to the ground, sits up and repeats the process before finally standing again. Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said that the study affirmed the power of prayer in a person's life, the New Straits Times reported. "The study investigates the physiological interactions and effects of the salat postures on the human body," said Abdullah, who likened salat postures to those practiced in yoga. "Since the majority of our population is Muslims, it is both of interest and importance that we not only understand the spiritual benefits of salat, but also ... its biological and medical effects," he said.
