Invitation for “Encuentros 2009” - 3rd Conference of Young Chilean Scientists in Europe. We would like to invite you to participate and register for the 3rd annual conference of young Chilean scientists residing in Europe, “Encuentros”, which will take place from the 11th and 13th of February 2009, at the Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine in Göttingen, Germany. The event is being organized by young Chilean scientists who are working in Europe in conjunction with two Max-Planck-Institutes, and is supported by Bionexa and the Fundación Ciencia para la Vida. The goal of “Encuentros” is to gather Chilean scientists from all fields who are currently working in Europe (at both doctoral and post-doctoral level) with established Chilean scientists and other distinguished people actively involved in the political and economic re-modelling of Chile. In this way we hope to generate scientific, academic and business networks between the participants residing in Chile and Europe. The program of “Encuentros” includes the participation of distinguished Chilean scientists from Chile and Europe, (for example, Ramon Latorre, National Science prize winner, and Erwin Neher, Nobel laureate). For the moment, we have confirmed the participation of six other speakers (4 Chilean and 2 European), and we have invited the presidents of the Council for Innovation and the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT). In addition, the program will include a poster session and 16 short presentations from young participants. The official language of the conference is English, although some round-table discussions will be conducted in Spanish.
