ANNOUNCEMENT Disability Rights California seeks applicants to fill upcoming vacancies on Disability Rights California’s Board of Directors. POSITIONS OPEN:

Board of Directors Initial Application Deadline: November 5, 2009.

Disability Rights California is the agency mandated by federal law to protect and advocate for the rights of Californians with disabilities. The agency is governed by a 15 member Board of Directors, the majority of who are people with disabilities. The Board also includes family members and attorneys. Disability Rights California's Board of Directors values diversity. To ensure that our Board reflects the diversity of people with disabilities and includes members with skills that the Board needs to oversee the organization, we are particularly interested in recruiting: 1) individuals with knowledge of the mental health advocacy issues, including mental health consumers, family members, attorneys or advocates, and 2) individuals from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds. Disability Rights California Board Nominating Committee will review all applications, select some candidates for an interview, and make recommendations to the Board of Directors or other appointing authority for consideration.
