DISCUSSION LANGUAGE (1): AGREEING AND DISAGREEING POLITELY (Discusión idioma: Aceptando y discrepando educadamente)

AGREERING:  I see what you mean. Veo a que te refieres.  I see your point. Entiendo tu argumento.  I suppose that’s true, actually. Supongo que eso es cierto, en realidad.  That’s a good point. Ese es un buen punto.  You might be right there. Puede que estés allí.  Well, I can’t argue with that. Bueno, no puedo discutir con eso.  I suppose you’ve got a point there. Supongo que tienes un punto allí.

DISAGREEING:  I don´t know about that. No sé acerca de eso.  I can’t really see the point of (forcing kids to eat). Realmente no puedo ver el punto de (obligar a los niños a comer).  Oh, do you think so? Oh, ¿lo crees?

 Oh, I wouldn’t say that. Oh, no diría eso.  Well, I’m still not convinced. Bueno, todavía no estoy convencido.

TIP:  We often follow an agreement phrase with “but” to challenge the other person’s opinion: (A menudo seguimos una frase de acuerdo con "pero" para desafiar la opinión de la otra persona)  I see what you mean, but I think it’s much better to let them eat when they want. (Veo lo que quieres decir, pero creo que es mucho mejor dejar que coman cuando quieran.)
