TROPHIES

There are a number of floating trophies outstanding If your child was awarded a trophy (for swimming, tennis or hockey) we would appreciate it if it could be returned as soon as possible, for this year’s award ceremonies.

SCHOOL LEAVERS

Thank you to all parents who have notified us that they are not returning in 2007. If there are any more who are planning to leave at the end of this year, please advise us as soon as possible. We have been inundated with admissions from within our area and this information is vital.

A VERY SPECIAL DAY

Congratulations to the BPA Committee responsible for a wonderful Golf Day. A beautiful trophy, the Diane Joubert floating trophy, donated by Mike Joubert, in memory of his wife, was awarded for the first time to the winning team : Messrs Clive Bartmann, Grant Carstensen, Andrew Richardson and Darryl Muller. And we raised over R50,000. What a bonus!

CUMBERLAND WETLAND

Mrs. Arde has been so pro-active in taking on the role of being a watchdog for Bryandale at the Wetland. She has done so much and has done it so quietly that I am ashamed to say I have just left it to her. Mrs. Gaynor too, has assisted in this project. It is once again time for us help her. We will have a school clean-up day this term. If there are any parents who would like to become more involved, or hear about Mrs. Arde’s plans, please contact her on (082) 564 3468. Thank you for being caretakers of our Community Project.

SECOND-HAND CHILDREN’S BOOKS

The Grade 1, 2 and 3 teachers are preparing for 2007. Our theme is Readers are Leaders so we are appealing for any second-hand children’s books. If you would like to donate any books, please bring them to Room 1 and Miss. Lombard will distribute them. We will hand out tokens to the children who bring books.

DIETARY BITES

We all know that it is important to drink water, but how do you increase the intake? • make it a rule that if your child wants to drink with meals, that only water is offered; • freeze water in ice lolly moulds and give as a refreshing cooler on hot summer days, some children love eating ice; • offer small ice cubes in a bowl to suck in summer; • dilute fruit juices with water; • serve water with lots of crushed ice; • send a small bottle of water to school in your child’s lunchbox – they will drink it if it’s there; • take a bottle of water in the car on trips or on outings, children are bound to get thirsty on outings and ask you to buy cold drinks.
