CONCERT

Thank you to all our wonderful parents and families of teachers who have done so much to help with our production. The time, energy, creative input and support is so appreciated.

CONCERT TICKET SALES

Tickets are R35 each and are on sale, outside the foyer of the hall, every morning from 06h45 until 07h45 and between 13h00 and 14h00. The concert dates are… Wednesday 10 May Thursday 11 May Friday 12 May SOLD OUT Monday 15 May Tuesday 16 May Friday night is already fully booked. Please ensure that you get your tickets as soon as possible. We will have to follow the Safety Regulations of freeing the exit points. This means that we will not allow standing in the wings or entrances during the performance. Cushions will be on sale for the audience or you may bring your own cushion.

CONCERT ARRANGEMENTS

ALL children to arrive at 18h00 having had supper. Those children who are staying late should bring a light snack and a blanket. Holding classes for each grade will be available for those who stay late. Interval will be at approximately 19h45. All Children in Grades 1 – 4 should be fetched during the interval if their parents are not in the audience. We will reserve the parking at the Knowledge Base for parents fetching the Grades 1 – 4. The senior and intersen phase children need to be fetched by 22h00 at the latest

CONCERT PARKING

As this is always a great headache, we have arranged that ALL TEACHERS will park in the rear parking lot (Gate 4). We will have security patrolling the street parking. Parents may park at the Pre-Primary and the Admin staff parking area (Gate 6) which will be open. I repeat The Knowledge Base parking area will be used for parents fetching children at the interval.

LOST PROPERTY

On Wednesday, last week, 28 pieces of clothing were left on the field. Half of these were marked and the children have been called to the office to fetch them. May I, once again, appeal to parents to please mark the children’s clothing.

GRADE 7 EDUCATION FOR LIVING

A sincere thank you to the twenty five families who braved the cold to listen to the contents of the programme. Growing up is so exciting, yet so scary. Ensuring that children make correct choices and are educated in these matters is one way to keep our children safe.

VACANT POSITIONS

Grade 7 Mathematics part-time post for the year (2 hours per day from Monday to Friday – 08h00 – 10h00). A teacher with Mathematics as a major or with relevant Grade 7 Mathematics experience is required. Grade 7 Life Orientation and Arts and Culture part-time position for the term, until Mrs Groeneveld returns. (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday). Grade 3 Post - to replace Mrs Stuckenberg who leaves at the end of the term. Foundation Phase qualifications or relevant experience is required for this post. Grade 2 Post - to replace Mrs Hilton, who leaves at the end of May. Foundation Phase qualifications or relevant experience is required for this post. We are very sorry to lose these two teachers and thank them most sincerely for all they have done for Bryandale. We wish them well for the future.

HOW TO VIEW YOUR PERSONAL TRANSACTIONS Did you know that you can view your own personal transactions by logging onto www.myschool.co.za Here is how you do it…. If you are a first time user of the website, you will not have a username and password - all you have to do is register as follows : 1. Locate the LOG IN area on the home page (it’s on the left hand side of the page) 2. In the LOG IN area, click on REGISTER HERE (it’s below the Go! Button) 3. On the next page that opens, enter your 16 digit card number in the space provided, and then click the REGISTER button 4. After filling in your personal details, you must choose your own username and password. Remember your username and password – you will need it to view your support information when you log in again 5. Click COMPLETE to complete your registration (and to automatically log in) 6. Once you are logged in, go to SUPPORT (on left hand side of page) 7. Click on Transaction Information (in blue) – click on the value in ‘blue’ – this will then provide details of the months – click on the month you wish to look at, and it will give you details of when and where you supported, broken down by supporters. ELECTION OF PARENT MEMBERS OF THE SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY

SCHOOL FEES

Notice is hereby given that the nomination of candidates for the election of Parent Member(s) of the School Governing Body of the above-mentioned school will be held at 19h00 24th May 2006 in the School Hall. A candidate may be nominated in 2 ways: 1) By lodging a nominated form duly completed by the proposer, seconder, and candidate with the Electoral Officer not more than 7 days and not less that 1 day before the nomination meeting, or 2) By proposing a parent as a member during the nomination meeting, provided that another parent seconds the nomination, and a nomination form duly completed by the proposer, seconder and candidate is lodged with the Electoral Officer within the time allotted in the meeting by the Electoral Officer for this purpose. If more candidates are nominated than the number of Parent Members to be elected, an election will be held at 19h00 24th May 2006 in the School Hall. The Electoral Officer for our school is Fourways High School and they can be contacted on (011) 465 1104 if you have any queries. Please note that a quorum of 15% of the eligible parents of the school is necessary for the nomination and poll meetings to take place. A parent is the biological parent of a learner, the guardian who is legally entitled to custody of a learner, a person who takes the responsibility of a parent in the case of childheaded families or an extended family, or a person who undertakes to fulfil the obligations of a parent/guardian towards the learner’s education at school. Each family has two votes THE FORMAT FOR THE EVENING: The Annual General Meeting will take place after the nomination meeting. Should only six members be nominated, they will automatically be elected.

This year’s fees are R7,800 per learner. Have you paid? Our bank details are at the top of this newsletter. If you selected the quarterly payment option, your next payment is OVERDUE.

MARTIAL ARTS

Congratulations to Brett Gregory who took part in the SA National Championships (Martial Arts) - Tang Soo Do on 29 April 2006, representing Alchemy Dojang. The Alchemy team walked away with 21 medals, securing a place in the world championships to take place in Holland next year - well done team Chuck Norris would be proud!

SGB UPDATE

Nomination forms were sent home on Thursday. Should you wish to nominate someone, please follow procedure and hand the form in at the office. We only have positive replies from 121 parents which falls far short of the required 340 to form a quorum. Thank you to these parents. Please reconsider attending this meeting. We will be in touch after the concert.
