WELCOME BACK

To all Bryandalians, welcome back to the 4th and final term. We welcome a new family and a returning past pupil, to Bryandale, and hope their stay will be happy and rewarding. The last term is short and packed with so many demands - on Learners, Educators and Parents. Please assist your children by insisting that they are on time, stick to deadlines, do their homework, and are not absent. This will go a long way to ensuring that they are able to complete the outcomes for the year.

YOU LEAD US

You lead us We can shine You lead us Through good and bad times Although you shout and we get scared We always know you care. DIETARY BITES

What health benefits do legumes give us? Legumes or beans are good sources of fibre and B-vitamins. The fibre helps to reduce cholesterol and has a low Glycemic Index (GI) which keeps the blood glucose levels on an even keel. The easiest way to include legumes in the diet is to hide them in stews, soups and salads. The most common legume is the baked bean and the other legumes are lentils, butter beans, small white beans and chick-peas.

CODE OF CONDUCT

Bryandalians are correctly dressed for all sporting occasions, are polite to coaches and referees and do not question decisions made on the sports field.

THRIFT SHOP

THRIFT SHOP – Opportunity Knocks Pam Rodgers will be leaving us at the end of the year. Her expertise at running the Thrift Shop will be sorely missed. If YOU can assist us by taking over this very important function, please contact Jacqui Grieve (011) 706 1502 [email protected]

BUDGET

At our Parents’ Meeting on 20th September, the Budget for 2007 was unanimously approved by those present. Thank you to the Parents who attended and especially to the staff and SGB members who worked so very hard in preparing the Budget. It was resolved that School Fees will be charged in 2007 and that these will R8,600 for Grades 2 – 7.

TRAFFIC

Take a look at the picture we’ve included this week… this is how some of our parents are “Leading By Example”. We urge parents to be very careful when driving in the vicinity of the school. We’ve had far too many “close calls” and someone is going to get injured if this traffic impatience and rudeness continue. Please obey the traffic rules and be aware of (and obey) the scholar patrol on duty.
