ABSTRACT
Human Immunodeficiency Virus is a virus that attacked human’s immunity system. Oral hygiene is about the absence of all debris and calculus in teeth surface, gingiva and interdental. When an individual could not maintained their own oral hygiene, it could create major risks of opportunistic infections because Human Immunodeficiency Virus affects human’s immune system capability to fight and cure any kind of diseases and infections they are suffered for. The purpose of this research is to find out the dental health’s status of patients with HIV/AIDS at Yayasan Batamang Plus Manado. Oral Hygiene Index Simplified (OHI-S) is a form of dental health scoring system. OHI-S index according to Green and Vermilion is a measurement that works by adding the total score of Debris Index (DI) and Calculus Index (CI). This research is a descriptive methods with cross-sectional study approaches. Purposive sampling technique is using in terms of sampling methods and involve as many as 30 people as participants. The result shows that the average OHI-S score is 2.2 and categorized as fair in WHO category. Based on that result, conclusion is the oral hygiene status of patients with HIV/AIDS in Yayasan Batamang Plus Manado are include in fair category.
