Bolivia Prayer Letter: The Quisbert Family

Dear Brothers in Christ:

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our family started this year thinking on the following promise: "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9. It’s a great privilege and blessing for our family to work together with the PMU Team in the mission’s ministry. Vacation Bible School Our VBS was held January 19- 24, 2009 from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM. We registered 42 children and had an attendance of 35 per day sometimes 40. New brothers in Christ have been involved in this work. Fernando Cuba who came with his two sons (He helped us distribute the snacks, cookies, juices, coke and candies to the children.) and Wilson Mercado, a young adult who studies agronomy at the University. (He helped us teach the songs with Martin and Gonzaga). We are thankful for the materials that the Team Timothy left last summer. All these materials were used for the work with the children in our VBS. Sometimes the materials for the children are expensive here in Bolivia. We made a campaign to collect all the pencils, colors, rulers, and materials that the children don’t use in the school. We used these recycled material for our VBS. It was a very economical VBS. On February 14th at 2:30 PM, we started our regular meeting of AWANA Club. Please pray for the children's ministry in Bolivia. New opportunities for the Gospel in Bolivia. The new political Constitution of the state was approved on January 25. In the last Constitution, article three said that Bolivia recognizes and upholds the Apostolic Roman Catholic religion as the official religion of Bolivia and the freedom for other religions.

Now the new Constitution in the article four says that the state respects and guarantees freedom of religion and of spiritual beliefs and that the state is independent from religion. This is good for us. Since the foundation of Bolivia, the Roman Catholic Church has dominated this country and the government. Now this church is out of privileges. It will be a great opportunity for us. We need men and women to preach the Gospel in this country. We thank you for your part in our ministry and for your support, prayers, and love the church planting efforts.
