In regard to Europe continent, the demand is dominated by travelers departing from Amsterdam’s Schipol International Airport and Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris. The demand from the Netherlands is the result of the existing direct non-stop flights served by Garuda Indonesia, allowing the passengers to make only one stop over in Jakarta. In addition, some other cities of origins were also spotted over the year, such as London’s Heathrow (LHR). Zurich’s Kloten (ZRH), Frankfurt’s Rhein Mein (FRA), Barcelona (BCN), Brussel International Airport (BRU).

Australia becomes one of the region on which the visitor’s number slightly declines based on its CAGR. The steep decline was shown in year 2017, and seemingly the number will stabilise in 2018. Direct connectivity onwards to Australia might be needed such as to Sydney and Melbourne where the major outbound and inbound traffic recorded in order to increase the visitors.

United States has prominently become the highest international traffic contributors to Indonesia. Specifically, for Yogyakarta, the U.S. was seen to be the third country with highest bi directional traffic CAGR and there are 5 major where travelers depart and arrive such as: Miami (MIA), New York (JFK), Los Angeles (LAX), Houston (IAH) and San Francisco (SFO). These five cities brought in foreign tourists and/or Indonesian students and Indonesian diasporas. Based on the traffic pattern, most passengers flew west to the U.S. Central and U.S East Coast with stopovers mainly in the middle east (Doha, Qatar), while for those travel from and to the West Coast, they merely transit in Singapore (SIN) as direct flights to SFO and LAX are available.

South American travelers records a positive CAGR growth of 5%, since 2016 to November 2018. Most of travelers depart from Sao Paulo (GRU) to Yogyakarta with transit stops at Doha (DOH), Abu Dhabi (AUH), Istanbul (IST), DXB (Dubai) and Jakarta or Bali (DPS). There was significant growth between 2016 and 2017, while for 2018, the number is expected to level or slightly increase than 2017. The strengthened presence of middle east carriers to South America has provided significant impact to South American tourists to Yogyakarta and vice versa. Some countries such as Columbia, Chile, Ecuador, Venezual impose reciprocal visa on arrival policy which benefit the traffic growth

Conclusion
After analysing the traffic pattern of bi-directional long haul routes from and/to Yogyakarta Indonesia, it can be concluded that: •
China as the highest contributors with the CAGR nearly 20%. The trend of Chinese travelers they transit via Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Bali.
•
The second highest traffic growth was captured from and to India, with growing points of departure and arrivals. The bi-directional traffic pattern is similar to that of China, only majority of the travelers made their stopovers in Kuala Lumpur.
•
Another potential is European travelers which continues to increase over the years. Most of travelers from Yogyakarta to Europe vice versa traveled with 2 stop overs (Doha/Dubai/Abu Dhabi – Jakarta and or Doha/Dubai – Bali).
•
Bi-directional traffic between Yogyakarta and Japan also increase which still contributed by inbound traffic from Haneda and Narita, with stop overs mainly in Jakarta and Bali and some in Kuala Lumpur, for those travel using the LCCs.
