MEMBERSHIP MEETING January 8, 2009 Meeting was called to order Secretary’s Report: December’s membership meeting minutes were approved as published in the newsletter. December’s board minutes were read. Presidents Report: Don introduced the present board to the membership and thanked them for the hard work they did this past year. He thanked Sandra Wierichs for her term on the board. Don then introduced the four members that are running for the board position; Barb Hoffman, Nancy Holman, Katie Krehmeyer and Paul Thiel. Don also thanked all the members of the club that have helped make this club the success that it is. Treasurers Report: December’s financial report was given. Also the end of the year report was given. Appreciation Night-Awards: Julie Siefert said you must get the information to her no later than tomorrow afternoon if you would like to receive a certificate or an award. Talk to her after the meeting if you have any questions. Membership: Prospective new members were introduced and welcomed. Traveling Trophies: Laura Steidl said the postmark deadline is January 14th and email deadline is January 16 to get the information in to her. You can’t win unless you apply for these. Any questions you may have she will be glad to answer after the meeting. Emergency Service Coordinator: Len Hoehne said that he would like to get some first aid classes for humans and/or pets going this year but needs help from someone willing to do the paper work necessary for this. He just doesn’t have the time and is hoping that someone would be willing to work with him. Legislative: Deb Krsnich updated us on what is happening around our country. She stressed how important it is to keep informed on what is happening not only in our state but other states as well. The AKC site is a good page 2

place to check on what is happening. She urged people to get involved. Budget: Barb Hoffman said she has passed out the budget sheets and if she missed someone to please talk with her and she will get you a copy of your committee’s budget. Nursing Homes: Donna Gasbarro said you must be an approved member to participate and have a CGC on your dog. The times and places on in our newsletter and our website. You must talk with Pam Siebert before you attend any visits with your dog. Old Business: None New Business: Four motions from the board were discussed and then voted on-they were Motion: Add to the Agility Budget $455 for AKC Fees and $308 for ribbons for a total of $763. Approved Motion: Approve Jolene Johnson as chair for our Advertising Committee. Approved Motion: Approve Deb Zierler as Director of Training. Approved Motion: Move the Winter Show to the Fond du Lac Fairgrounds for the year 2010. Approved It was noted that the Winter Show Chair just wanted our permission to change the show site if they couldn’t come up with a different solution. We can’t have our show on our date in January at the fairgrounds for 2010. It was asked if our club has a “breeder’s directory” and we said not at this time. It was suggested that maybe we should have one where people pay to advertise in it. The discussion was tabled to the board meeting. Election: our treasurer read a list of names of people who had not yet paid their dues. Time was allowed for any members present to pay dues for anyone on the list if they chose to do so. Secretary casts a unanimous vote for all unopposed positions: PresidentDon Stanislawski, Vice President-Tom Wiesler, Treasurer-Ruth Taggart and Secretary-Gail VanDenLangenberg. WINTER SHOW The WDC Winter Show is now history and, by all accounts, it was a success. Mother Nature even cooperated and the weekend was chilly but not frigid!! An all-breed show isn’t possible without the help of many volunteers. Let me take a moment to thank everyone. Pat Erickson – Thanks so much to Pat, my assistant chair, for the work she does for the preparations for the WDC winter show. Thanks, also, to Pat for her work as judges’ hospitality person for the entire weekend. Mike Reinke and Ruth Taggart – Mike is our Chief Ring Steward and he’s assisted by Ruth Taggart. Thanks to both for their work!! Don Stanislawski – Don covered a lot of ground at the shows with tasks ranging from a “welcome” to exhibitors to assisting when exhibitors blew fuses in the Expo Center. Marek Parszewski – Marek did the gate again this year and, this time, his years of downhill skiing in cold weather kept him in good shape for his work as the “gatekeeper”. Thanks, too, to Gail Anthony, Nancy Zolkowski, Mary Borsechnik and Tom Wiesler’s nephew for assisting at the gate. Lori Piette, Becky Reider and Chris Brown – Thanks to Lori and Becky for their help in the judges’ and workers’ lunch rooms. Thanks to Chris Brown for working at the trophy table. And special thanks to a couple of young ladies – BJ and Nicolle – for their work as ring runners. Thanks, as well, to the members of the Appleton based White Huron Chorale who sang the national anthem for us both Saturday and Sunday. Thanks, too, to the WDC exhibitors who entered their dogs in the shows!! Our entries were down but considering the economy, the weather, the closing date of Dec 24th, we did okay.
