February 2009 Newsletter A Special Note from Ed I was laying wide awake in bed the other night at about 3 in the morning, unable to sleep. The Lord really gave me a burden for the nation and the church and gave me an insight to one of the key reasons we Christians are losing battle after battle for our freedoms in this country today. I thought over the events of First Chronicles, beginning in Chapter 11, where it talks about David’s Mighty Men. These were called mighty men of valor because they truly made a difference in their land as they gladly submitted themselves and committed themselves to David, their leader. They were men without compromise. David’s mighty men didn’t start out from some Military Academy. They were an untrained lot. And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him. NKJV Yet from this zealous crowd arose the Mighty Men of Valor. They were submitted, committed and fiercely loyal. They were unswerving, unmoved from their purpose. And they fulfilled God’s purpose for their nation. Today, too few men in the church make that kind of commitment to their spiritual leader, their pastor. The ones who do not have that kind of accountability in their lives survive in a convenient world of compromise. Their commitment is to whatever works and to whatever is the least hassle. It is too uncomfortable for them to be submitted to someone who holds the Bible as the rod of truth and conduct. They may be saved but they have no passion for the gospel, the church, or the lost. Most churches are struggling financially today. Few have more than a handful of tithe payers, yet that is probably one of the very first fruits of a committed man.

The church survives on the acts and the prayers of its women, who probably comprise 6070% of active adult church members. God bless them for carrying the load they do carry. As a result, the church is weak and the walls of safety are in shambles. The world has pushed down the ramparts and the church, in general, has become an extension of the world, just the same except with Sunday church. The late and the greatest Christian apologist of the 20th Century, Dr. Walter Martin, often said that the cults were the unpaid bills of the Christian Church. He called out for the church to “Contend for the Faith”. 3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude 3-4

I find it disheartening when hundreds of thousands of Muslims storm the streets and go crazy because someone drew a cartoon picture of Mohammed. Yet, where were the Christian men when some artist placed a small statue of Jesus on the Cross in a container of urine and called it art. Not only was it in a public exhibit, but our tax dollars paid the artist through the NEA. Today, the church and Christianity are being battered from every side and the church gives in, backs away and cowers, because the Mighty Men of Valor are missing in action. The zealous few who are trying to hold back the flood waters are spread too thin. I call upon every man reading this to go to his pastor and enlist. I call upon every church to preach this message and have an altar call where men can walk forward and stand before the congregations of our nation and be held accountable to become that church’s; that pastor’s Mighty Men of Valor. The following article describes what I mean when I talk about zealous men. It is a short part of a book called Practical Religion by a true 19th century Zealot. Please read it. It is what I want to be said about me when I am off to heaven. It is where my heart and my life abide.

I. Let me show, in the first place, what is zeal in religion. II. Let me show, in the second place, when a man can be called rightly zealous in religion? III. Let me show, in the third place, why it is a good thing for a man to be zealous in religion? I. First of all, I propose to consider this question. “What is zeal in religion?” Zeal in religion is a burning desire to please God, to do His will, and to advance His glory in the world in every possible way. It is a desire which no man feels by nature, — which the Spirit puts in the heart of every believer when he is converted,—but which some believers feel so much more strongly than others that they alone deserve to be called “zealous” men. This desire is so strong, when it really reigns in a man, that it impels him to make any sacrifice,—to go through any trouble,—to deny himself to any amount,—to suffer, to work, to labour, to toil,—to spend himself and be spent, and even to die,—if only he can please God and honour Christ. A zealous man in religion is pre-eminently a man of one thing. It is not enough to say that he is earnest, hearty, uncompromising, thorough-going, whole-hearted, fervent in spirit. He only sees one thing, he cares for one thing, he lives for one thing, he is swallowed up in one thing; and that one thing is to please God. Whether he lives, or whether he dies,—whether he has health, or whether he has sickness,—whether he is rich, or whether he is poor,—whether he pleases man, or whether he gives offence,— whether he is thought wise, or whether he is thought foolish,—whether he gets blame, or whether he gets praise,—whether he gets honour, or whether he gets shame,—for all this the zealous man cares nothing at all. He burns for one thing; and that one thing is to please God, and to advance God’s glory. If he is consumed in the very burning, he cares not for it,—he is content. He feels that, like a lamp, he is made to burn; and if consumed in burning, he has but done the work for which God appointed him. Such an one will always find a sphere for his zeal. If he cannot preach, and work, and give money, he will cry, and sigh, and pray. Yes: if he is only a pauper, on a perpetual bed of sickness, he will make the wheels of sin around him drive heavily, by continually interceding against it. If he cannot fight in the valley with Joshua, he will do the work of Moses, Aaron, and Hur, on the hill. (Exod. xvii. 9-13.) If he is cut off from working himself, he will give the Lord no rest till help is raised up from another quarter, and the work is done. This is what I mean when I speak of “zeal” in religion.

Now, to other news THE LDS CHURCH HAS REBAPTIZED TED BUNDY February 9, 2009 Theodore Robert Bundy, prolific serial killer and rapist—one of the most notorious and despised murderers in U.S. history—has been posthumously baptized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Proxy rites for Bundy, consisting of a baptism and an “endowment” ceremony, were performed on May 28, 2008 in the Jordan River Utah Temple, a Mormon temple in South Jordan, a suburb 16 miles south of downtown Salt Lake City. Theodore Bundy, who became better known as Ted Bundy, was born on November 24, 1946, in Burlington, Vermont. He is currently listed in the LDS Church’s database of posthumous ordinances, the International Genealogical Index (IGI), under his birth name, Theodore Robert Cowell, to conceal his criminal identity. Between 1974 and 1978, Ted Bundy raped and killed an untold number of young women in Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Utah, and Florida. Authorities believe his victims numbered well over 100. On January 24, 1989, after a ten-year stay of execution, Bundy was executed in the electric chair at Florida State Prison in Starke, Florida. Many spectators cheered and toasted his death with champagne. In the fall of 1974, during the time he was murdering innocent women, Ted Bundy moved to Salt Lake City. The following year, he joined the LDS Church. Bundy’s involvement with the Mormon religion was apparently short-lived. His name may have been removed from Mormon membership rolls because of his criminal record. Throwing justice to the wind, less than twenty years after Ted Bundy’s execution, and in the state of Utah—where Bundy once roamed and brutally killed young women without remorse—the LDS Church has secretly reclaimed its most cold-blooded killer.

Anti-faith language remains in stimulus package Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 2/7/2009 4:15:00 AM The U.S. Senate has taken action that could mean a legal battle royal over the stimulus bill. The Senate rejected an amendment offered by Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) that would have stripped language from the stimulus bill that would force colleges and universities to throw religious clubs off campus if the schools receive federal funds.

Stimulus to ban religious worship President Obama's proposed economic stimulus plan makes a deliberate—and unconstitutional—attempt to censor religious speech and worship on school campuses across the nation, according to a lawyer who argued related cases before the U.S. Supreme Court 20 years ago and won them all. "This isn't like a convenient oversight. This is intentional. This legislation pokes its finger in the eyes of people who hold religious beliefs," Jay Sekulow, chief of the American Center for Law and Justice, told WND.

Here’s One for the Books After I heard about this horrific, brutal murder, I went to Google News, Fox News, ABC News, and USA Today websites to get the details. Apparently, our news media do not want to offend Muslims. We all know that if the head of a Christian station beheaded his wife, the media would be camped out at the station and the home for a month of live reporting. I finally found this on BBC news, in England. US Muslim TV boss 'beheaded wife'

Aasiya Hassan had recently filed for divorce, alleging domestic violence

The founder of a US Muslim TV network has been charged over the beheading of his wife, media reports say. Muzzammil Hassan, 44, is accused of second degree murder of Aasiya Hassan, whose body was found last week at the TV station in New York state. Both Mr. Hassan and his wife worked at Bridges TV, a station aimed at countering stereotypes of Muslims. Authorities said Mrs. Hassan, 37, had recently filed for divorce. The couple had two children, aged four and six.

Muzzammil "Mo" Hassan is accused of beheading his wife last week, days after she filed for divorce. Authorities have not discussed the role religion or culture might have played, but the slaying gave rise to speculation that it was the sort of "honor killing" more common in countries half a world away, including the couple's native Pakistan.

Nazim Mangera felt tears welling in his eyes as he said the final prayers over the body of Aasiya Z. Hassan around sunrise Tuesday morning. Mangera wasn’t upset just by the loss of this vivacious, intelligent 37-year-old woman or by the vicious way that she was killed when she was beheaded Thursday. He also was upset about suggestions that the Islamic religion may have had something to do with her death, that this may have been an “honor killing” tied to Muslim tradition or culture. Orchard Park police have charged her estranged husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with her killing. “We’re all shocked. We’re all grieving,” said Mangera, imam of the Islamic Society of the Niagara Frontier. “To compound that, we have to face the difficulty of the religion of Islam being blamed for [the killer’s] personal actions. It was an individual person who did this act, for whatever reason. We don’t find any justification in the Islamic religion for any such violence.”

Let’s Get Real! Would someone please explain to the poor Imam that beheading, especially “Honor Killing” acts of beheading have been going since the days of Mohammed. I don’t find it common practice among the Christians or Jews, the people accursed in the Koran. It is just a common form of murder in Islam. And they call it an “Honor Killing”. Maybe before Allah it is. Never before the true God who has said “Thou Shalt Not Kill.” A quick google search of beheading gave me more than 28 pages of Muslim beheadings from around the world. Don’t insult our intelligence and claim this was the act of one man and not the fruit of your violent faith. And the most sickening part of this brutal murder is that the US media is covering it up and law enforcement wants to call this a 2nd degree act of murder when it is the a killing that is the most heinous form of torturous death.
