Full refunds will be issued if the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre cancels the program

Fuel Your Movement with the TLC’s Personal Nutrition Coaching Services. The TLC has numerous options for fueling your movement; each of the programs is delivered by an experienced registered dietitian:

The Appetizer

Beginning with a one (1) hour assessment by a TLC registered dietitian, this session includes a review of your current diet, nutrition goals, pertinent lifestyle concerns, medical history, current medications and supplements. Basic health benchmarks such as recording your height, weight and waist circumference will be measured. The Appetizer also includes one (1), 30 minute follow up session to review your personal meal pattern and to assess your progress which will help you reach your personal goals.

The Main Course

Body Composition Analysis A Personal Trainer will measure your body composition using skin calipers to determine your body fat percentage; calculate your BMI and take girth measurements to provide you with an accurate reading of your body composition and explain how it fairs to overall health standards. You will receive a complete explanation and documents for your own records.

An overall fitness test conducted by one of our Personal Trainers will include measurements of; body fat percentage, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, upper and lower body strength, and a functional assessment of your postural alignment. This is an excellent way to start a fitness routines and evaluate what you should aim to accomplish with your personal exercise routine.

Children’s Programs Fun Factory This “learn through play” program allows your child a unique opportunity to enhance their creativity and physical fitness through crafts, songs, stories, gym activities and occasional pool exploration. Although parent participation is necessary on a rotating basis, this program allows ample opportunity for you to participate in adult TLC activities simultaneously. 3-5 yrs

The Wellness Commitment is a year-long program designed to enable you to live a healthier more active lifestyle. The Wellness Commitment is lead by a team of experienced registered dietitians that will assess your current state of wellness with a thorough review of your current diet, lifestyle, medical history, nutrition goals as well as a personal health assessment (height, weight, and waist circumference). From the initial assessment your TLC dietitian will develop your blueprint to wellness. A Time To Play

I’m Big Enough for Preschool

A terrific opportunity for you to enjoy “A Time to Play” with your child. Together you will explore creative play through songs, crafts, and movement activities developed around a weekly theme. “A Time to Play” is a 10 week program packed with fun!

This program is designed for preschoolers to comfortably transition into a preschool program by themselves. You will initially attend class with your child with the intention they will gain confidence to complete the program on their own. Activities will include games, songs, crafts and stories.

Assisted by an Instructor, preschoolers work on stroke and skills progressions. Learning also focuses on good judgement in, on, and around the water, and entries and floats in deep water.

In Whale, children will learn to swim independently and participate in team games. Preschoolers will increase their distance and improve skills in front and back swims. Swimmers also learn about throwing assists to help another person in the water.

Career Development for Aquatic Instructors Assistant Water Safety Instructor This Red Cross Assistant Water Safety Instructor course is for participants that are 15 + years of age and is a prerequisite to the Red Cross WSI course covering: the foundation of instructional skills including teaching methods, learning styles, physical principals, progressions, communication, safety supervision, and feedback. This is a 30 hour course involving both class and pool sessions. Candidates are required to complete 8 hours of practice teaching before being fully certified. Certified AWSI can co-teach the Red Cross Swim programs under the supervison of a fully certified WSI. $240
