The Thermal Waters of Pacha-Pupum, are a thermomedicinal resource, which is located in the district of Sacsamarca, in the province of Huanca Sancos, in the region of Ayacucho. Pacha-Pupum, means "navel of the earth", and is also the name of an extinct volcano, located in the area, and from which emanate the waters that nourish the hot springs of the resource. The thermal waters of Pacha-Pupum, are rich in the presence of sulfur, so they are recommended to people suffering from nervous and skin diseases. The resource is located 35 kilometers from Huanca Sancos square, the entrance to this is free, but it is recommended that visits take place between the hours of 6 in the morning, until 5 in the afternoon. There are combis that can take those interested to the same hot springs.
The Pachapupum volcano, also known as "El Volcán Dormido", is a natural wonder found in the province of Huancasancos in the Ayacucho region. It is surrounded by volcanic stones and lagoons with thermal waters of various forms. This natural expression is unique in the world and has its stepped shape due to the solidification of the lava around the crater. Huanca Sancos (3427 masl) is one of the 11 provinces of the department of Ayacucho. In turn, Huanca Sancos has 4 districts: Sancos, Lucanamarca, Carapo and Sacsamarca. It is in this last district where Pachapupum is located. You can access the upper part of this volcano, approximately 30 meters high, by a formation of steps that form something similar to a naturally formed staircase. PROVINCE OF HUANCASANCOS THERMAL WATERS OF PACHAPUPUM Located at 4020 meters above sea level, its waters have healing properties for asthma, arthritis and skin diseases, among others. It has a temperature of 45ºC and a strong smell of sulfur. It is located 35 km south of the city of Sancos. (45 minutes by van).
