Hi all: Ken Marr from the FBI will visit ZOB Thursday in the morning simply to plug in his laptop/recorder and make some tapes from 9/11/01. AAT-200 advised that he isn't here to conduct any interviews or anything like that..only to make tapes. I will make sure that his name and our QA contact numbers have been given to the front gate. Regards, Jeff

Statements should be gathered and forwarded as the employee's return to work. All management shall do them today, no excuse. We understand, several facilities may not have logged all actions, so it is critical that this information is captured in statements with approximate times on each notification (very critical). It may be easier to complete a timeline with action/notification taken with time and by whom and have all sign to validate these actions. Again I thank you all and apologize for being so demanding.. As you know this AM the Administrator will be standing in front of Congress explaining our actions vs. inaction's... Everyone did an exceptional job. Keep your heads up and ensure you all take care of yourselves and families. To Better Times Doug

Date: 9/12/2001 7:07 PM Sender: Bob Herak To: Rick Kettell; Gary M Klingler Priority: Normal Subject: UAL 93 SATORI Viewing After watching the reaction of the NATCA Reps after the viewing of the UAL 93 SATORI, I wonder if we should restrict the viewing. The SATORI does contain graphic and disturbing voice recordings. I think that we increase the potential for incidents of critical stress by allowing viewing. Up to now, I restricted the viewing to OS, OM and those that were involved in the accident. Now that QA is collecting statements, I have asked my staff to advise the controller that they can avoid the SATORI if they wish when they complete their statements. I think that we should get NATCA's opinion on that issue. Also, I have instructed my staff to only let those approved by the two of you and myself, to view the SATORI. I think we should discuss the issue tomorrow. Bob Herak

The following ZOB TMU personnel have seen all or portions of the SATORI. I am not sure how much of the SATORI they reviewed. Craig Pass, Doug Haney, Jim Ries and Doug Davis viewed on 9/1 Mark Evans viewed on 9/13/01 at 0930L. I have viewed all or portions of the SATORI's two or three. Because of problems with the "A" job I reloaded the SAR INFORMATION so data blocks could be displayed. I also electronically transmitted the voice and data files on all four SATORI's on UAL93 to AGL-505's SATORI on 9/12/01. The voice files sent were .pac & .pt files NOT .wav files. Tom Roherty

Garry This is just a follow-up to our tephone conversation reference the subject transcripts. I contacted Doug gould in AAT-200, he stated he needed an electronic version of these transcripts for the FBI so they can cut and paste items they need. Please go ahead and send a copy with an attachment of the electronic version of the transcripts to Doug Gould in AAT-200. I have advised Doug that the accident package along with the transripts have not yet been reviewed by AGL-505 or HQ (Cassandra James). He said he would advise the FBI that these are not final and may have some changes after review by AGL-505 and AAT-200. If you need anything else please let me know, thanks Karyl DiDiana AGL-505.1

Garry, I received a call today from Kevin Christy and Doug Gould needed the "electronic" transcripts for UAL 93. Is this one of those things that we already sent? Let me know. Bob

February 26, 2002 Kevin, In response to your request for the electronic transcript of UAL93, I have discussed the issue with Garry O'Connor and we do have a copy. Before we send the data to AAT-200, I want to clarify several issues. 1. We will need a written request for the data (email will suffice). This is a facility policy for security tracking and a record of request. 2. This data should be sent by certified mail to ensure that the data is not compromised. Sending by e-mail is not a secure method and could result in compromising the data. Upon receipt of a written request, we will promptly send the data to AAT-200. Bob Herak Support Manager, Quality Assurance

Garry, This is written confirmation. Please comply with the Regional Office request and e-mail the file to Doug Gould. Bob Herak Subject: Author: Date:
