From Our Director:

Congratulations

Summer at the Library

2004

S

ummer brings with it longer days, vacations, and time to relax and read. At the Library it also brings about the annual Summer Reading and Listening Program, a busy and fun-filled time for our staff, especially those in Youth Services. This summer also brings about some changes in personnel at the Library. Cassie Wilson resigned as Youth Services Coordinator on April 7. Cassie accepted a similar position in Rowlett, Texas, and began work in Rowlett on May 10. Paula Drummond has accepted a temporary position as Youth Services Coordinator with our library. She comes to the Youth Services Coordinator’s position with 12 years of management experience. Most recently she has been the Director of the New Creations Learning Center. Paula earned her B.S. Degree in Education from Wright State University. Paula is busy planning the Summer Program for Youth and Young Adults with the assistance of Linda Priddy and Carolyn Beck from our Youth Services Department. Annie Teckman has been rehired to work as a Library Assistant and can be seen behind the Circulation Desk again this summer. Annie is home from Wooster College and will be working varied hours to cover vacations and sick leave. Matt Ramsey has also been rehired for the summer. He will be working as a Page and doing other duties as well. Matt is home from the University of Virginia. Ashley Phlipot has resigned her position as Page. She will be working at Cedar Point this summer before heading on to Oberlin College in the fall. We wish Cassie and Ashley much success in their new endeavors. Please stop by and welcome Paula, Annie and Matt. Susan Heckler Pittman Library Director

Graduates. GOOD LUCK in your future plans.

Display Items Sought The Library is seeking items to place our display cases. Suitable items include collections of all kinds. We’ve previously featured nostalgic toys, crafts, teddy bears and other items. Dinosaurs will be on display in June to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the first display of dinosaur replicas. If you have an interesting hobby or collection, please call Beth Keuneke, Adult Services Coordinator, or Paula Drummond, Youth Services Coordinator, for consideration.

Books on CD New at Library The Library is pleased to introduce books on CD are now available. We’ve purchased a range of titles from many genres to add to our collection. Due to our belonging to the SEO (Southeastern Ohio Regional Library Center) consortium, many more books on CD are available to our patrons through interlibrary loan. Books on CD are very popular with truck drivers, commuters, and vacationers.
