Family
Bertram and Daniel
The last few months have proved challenging physically, emotionally and financially for us as a family. Nonetheless, it has been an opportunity to experience God’s grace. So, do join us in praise to our God for the blessings with which he’s blessed us in Jesus. Daniel is now six months old! He’s recently recovered from a lung infection that caused his temperature to soar to over 105 degrees. He’s now started to sit up on his own and babble (“like his dad,” according to a “friend” !). Dornett continues to do a wonderful job mothering Daniel and managing the home; however, she’s in need of a break and some well-deserved rest. She’s got a love for sea-food, so we are contemplating opening a sea-food cook shop. God willing, this project should help her do what she loves and, at the same time, help the family earn some well needed funds. The second draft of Luke is now complete and is scheduled to be launched this autumn. The next step is to run a series of comprehension testings of the translated text along with some important New Testament words.
Translation Dornett & Daniel
Second drafts have also been done for 1-2 Timothy, James and 1 Peter. 2 Peter is being worked on. All this has been done in spite of some technical problems we’ve been having with our computers. The project has already started to have an impact. Having read the draft of Luke one new believer wrote: “The translation “gives a better understanding of the word...it brings out Jesus’ love better...Jesus' personality is shown more clearly…is it possible to get more?” Bertram has completed his second semester at university. He’s got another eight courses left before he commences the MA Linguistics proper. He’s slowly abandoning the idea of speeding up the process, by doing some of the courses during the summer semester, as he’d like to do some other things such as reviewing the drafts the translations have produced and writing a Bible Study guide on 1 Timothy for church.

Dornett is happy Bertram finally passed his driving test the third time around! Now, that’s an achievement, don’t you think?! Unfortunately, not a few persons, including Dornett, find it difficult forming a mental picture of Bertram around the wheels!

We are now looking for a suitable vehicle and have identified four nine-year-old Toyota cars each going for £4,000. We are not in a situation to buy one, therefore we are in need of your help to raise this amount. If you’d like to assist us, please send donations/contributions to us via Wycliffe Bible Translators (and do indicate the purpose of your contribution). Your support would go a long way in helping us getting around as for the last year we’ve been relying on public transportation and friends. Also, let us use this opportunity to let you know we are still in need of financial partners. We are half-way short of our target and would like to have discussions with persons/ churches that are interested in partnering with us. If you’ve got queries, do direct them to either Bertram or the Palmers (see contact info to your left). PRAYER REQUESTS Do use the above information inform your prayers for us. We pray for you during our family devotions. So, please send us your requests.
