Background of BOHDS Bendigo Oral Health and Dentistry Society (BOHDS) is a student organised club that was initiated in February 2009 to represent the Dentistry and Oral Health students in Bendigo. BOHDS has several purposes:    

Representation and voicing of student concerns and ideas Promoting oral health in the community Encouraging social interaction and inclusion of the students and staff Liaising between the staff and students of the School

BOHDS is supported and affiliated with the Bendigo Student Association (BSA), who acts as an overseeing administrative body. The BSA ensures all financial expenditure is accounted for, and provides the legal framework that allows BOHDS to act as a legal entity. We would like to offer your company the opportunity to become a BOHDS Sponsor.

The Executive PRESIDENT, Alison Sahhar It has been an absolute pleasure to be the inaugural President of BOHDS this year. My concurrent leadership experience as the Treasurer of Australian Dental Students Assoc, an Academic tutor and National Rural Health Representative have assisted me in my role as President. It has been an honour to see BOHDS develop and I thank the executive committee for their amazing dedication to the society’s success.

VICE PRESIDENT, Henry Cheng As our President’s right hand man, my role is to provide administrative and logistical support, as well as professional input on executive decisions. I take pride on the extensive volunteer work that I have done over the years with several charities –including Red Cross, and Tzu Chi (Buddhist Charity). This experience has helped me develop skills in communication and working with committees.

TREASURER, Julie Gittins I enjoy liaising with our faculty and student union staff regarding the financial side of BOHDS. My military background, previous executive committee experience and broader life experience allows me to give great support to our executive and society as a whole.

SECRETARY, Andrew Do As secretary, I have the foundation role in communication of decisions between the executive and students. My previous committee experience as secretary provides me with many skills to contribute to the smooth running of our society. 5|Page
