this

alternative

looking

for

reintegration and support from the society, organizations, families and the victim, instead of the regular Justice Model. Encuentros and Tierra de Hombres created The Juvenile Restorative Justice Project in January 2005, after two years of research of the Peruvian Justice Model. The research let them know more about the ‘Justice Operators’ (Polices, Prosecutors, Lawyers and Judges) and the ‘Social Operators’ (Psychologists, Social Workers) interested in find other solutions for Juvenile Delinquency. The Project have been developed in two different places for the following reasons: a) El Agustino (Lima) and José Leonardo Ortiz (Chiclayo) are districts with more than 100 thousand neighbours, b) Problems with Juvenile Delinquency, c) These districts has decentralized offices of the Court and d) Their communities are always involved. Stephen, will work in the office of José Leonardo Ortiz in Chiclayo, under the supervision of the staff of Encuentros. Responsibilities After the review of Stephen’s resume, Encuentros has decided to propose him to join their team in the 3 different areas: •

The Immediately Defense Team: The team includes the participation of one Lawyer, one Social Worker and one Psychologist and during the time with them, Stephen will be able to learn about the reality of Peru about these issues and will be able to help them in their daily tasks.



The Educational Help Team: The team includes 2 specialists in the Education area and Stephen will work, principally, in the Orientation and Reintegration Tasks. All these responsibilities will be supervised by the experts of the area.



The Network Team: The team is identifies all the programs and educational services where the teenagers will be sending. Stephen will work, directly with a Psychologist and a Lawyer student to strengthen the System.

Type of position: Internship (unpaid) Job Location: Chiclayo (a city in the northern region of Peru) Length of participation: 3 months (minimum) Positions: 1 opening Position opened to start: May 2008 -----------------------------------------------------------------------Fees (3 m onths): US $ 3,285 Fees cover the following: •

Room with a Peruvian host family.



3 Meals a day (from Monday to Friday).



Breakfast everyday (from Monday to Sunday)



Weekly cultural activities.



24-hour helpline.



Access to medical doctor in case of a medical emergency.



Access to the NeVo House, library, internet, coffee, snacks, etc., while you stay in Lima.



Advisory support from a corporate mentor and from NeVo mentors, while you stay in Lima.



Logistic support from a permanent coordinator.



Transportation to and from the airport in Lima and Chiclayo.



Orientation package.

Fee: Does not include: international or local airfare, health/accident insurance, visa costs if required, personal expenses.
