Meeting Place: Hope Center Wood stock Georgia Meeting time: 6:00pm to 11:00pm Hours of meeting: 5 Goal: 1. Create VPN account 2. Create dial up account 3. Log into the network using the VPN Notes: Now that the Network is configured, the focus of tonight was to set up the configuration for the VPN so that the Warehouse could be connected to the local area network. This is essential because the Warehouse is located in a different geographical location. The first thing that was done was to establish a dial up account. We decided to go with Net-Zero as that provider. The reason behind this decision was because they where economically feasible at $16.95 a month and provided a large amount of dial up numbers. The machine that will be at the Warehouse has Windows 98 on it because it has an older motherboard. It can have older equipment because it is not used as much and will only be used to update inventory. The VPN was configured which the Web based configuration on the SMC7004FW Router made it very simple to setup. We configured the VPN like this. LAN access 192.168.1.0 Host mode = used for windows based clients DHCP Range used to assign IPS to VPN Clients 192.168.1.200 – 192.168.1.220 It is configured at the Max VPN clients the router can Support which is 20. After dialing up through the New Net-Zero account we where able to VPN to the local area network and access all the shares without any issues. The next task we need to accomplish is to place the machine at the Warehouse and do an actual run with it. All tests where successful and everything is looking good.
