Purpose of Project Plan

The purpose of the project plan is to provide a clear and comprehensive understanding of the time frame in which the Hope Centers new network will be implemented. • • • •

Definition – What is the Project Plan

When Physical components of the network will migrated What Hope Center Personnel can expect What kind of information will be relayed to the hope center A description of milestones and meeting times

The project plan will be used throughout the life of the project to define and outline all aspects of Project Hope. All coinciding work will be performed with complete professionalism both at work and off the site. The Project will consist of three phase. • • •

Why a Project Plan for Project Hope

Phase I – Pre-installation Phase II - Implementation / Installation Phase III - Post Installation

The Hope Center and the project managers will find that throughout the course of the project it is necessary to check back to the project plan on a regular basis. This will ensure that both parties know when or where they are in the project.

Phase I – Pre-installation, of the project will consist mainly of the two parties getting comfortable with each other and learning how the other interacts on a professional and personnel level. The Project Managers will Spend time with the Hope center staff and view day to day activities while they perform there tasks of assessing the Hope center Network and its capabilities. The first phase of the project will also include the Project Managers initial investigations into the data network and work performed will be Non service effecting. The following list of activities that will take place in phase one of the project. • • • • • • •

Project Scope Meeting Survey Facility Floor plan measurements Create blue print Cable inspection Determined data port locations Located workstation locations

Presentation of findings The Project managers will present there finding to the Hope Team in a formal meeting called the presentation Determine feasibility of relocating Telco closet Investigate PC upgrade possibilities • • • • • • • •

RAM System Board Hard disk status & capacity inspection CPU compatibility check Existing network analysis Router / existing or non-existing Network connection check ISP connectivity analysis

Phase II - Implementation / Installation Hope Center Pre-Implementation Discussion Design & Build Network Closet • Draw blue print and specs for network closet • Gather materials for build out • Install cooling fan for temperature control • Install sliding hinges for shelf movement • Drill breathing holes • Measure and cut opening for new network closet • Install custom crafted Network Closet PBX Relocation • Remove & Reroute Meridian Key system box • Reroute RJ-11 wires • Test for dial tone

WiFi Network Installation • • • • • • •

Remove existing network interface cards in all 6 machines Install Linksys wireless adapter cards in all 6 machines Install all dependant and necessary drivers Configure Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) Setup Pass phrase and 128 bit encryption for WEP Configure all local machines for WEP Check for connectivity and successful network activity

Installation and Configuration of 802.11b equipment • Router • Access Point • Antennae’s PC Upgrades • Remove unwanted materials • Replace towers • Install three system boards • Install 3 40 GB hard disks • Install 128 MB Ram • Install 6 Network Wi-Fi interface cards • Install Microsoft Windows XP Pro on three machines • Configure systems to new network Server Build and Installation • Remove Unwanted materials • Check existing System Board integrity • Install 2, 40 GB hard disks • Install 512 MB Ram • Install Network interface RJ-45 10/100 card • Install Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional

Switch and router installation • Cisco 2900 XL Switch • Install and Configure Switch • Connect RJ-45 to Windows server • Linksys Router/ VPN Enpoint • Install and configure to local network Install warehouse equipment • Configure to remote location • VPN Client service setup • Remote Access Connectivity Installation of VPN Services Printers and Peripherals Setup • Configure printers to new network • Inspection and testing of new network, nodes, peripherals Successful Network Test • • • • •

Turn up network and load test for two weeks continuously Create and set benchmarks Analyze data captured and make changes as needed Tweak systems for better performance Test network performance under severe stress through all ports and the LAN and WAN segments

Project Closure Meeting Training will be conducted on the aforementioned date of September 30th 2003 at the location of the project site namely The HOPE Center of Woodstock Georgia. Time and sequence of meeting are to be disclosed at a later date with regard to all pertinent network compliance issues. Training will be provided to only those employees who sole purpose is to have access to either his or her files or authorized use of other employees’ documents and any other permitted network activity. Training will be to be provided to employees and management alike but only set at the discretion of the director or any other management who has the power to make decisions. A questions and answer session will commence only after training has been given on such systems as Windows XP Professional, Server client access and network usage, sharing files across the network and other important items have been discussed.
