David Klinkenberg Special Musical Guest

Sunday, September 28th, 2008 Both Morning Services at 9:00 am & 11:00 am Accomplished violinist David Klinkenberg delivers his unique style of worship where ever he goes. From the ethereal strains of “Holy, Holy, Holy,” to the Celtic-influenced cadence of “Be Thou My Vision”, Klinkenberg takes familiar melodies on a journey not heard before. “I started playing the violin in church at a very early age, so the concept of worshipping with the violin was ingrained in me as a child. Now it is hard for me to worship without the violin.”

We are making these changes to accommodate the increasing attendance throughout the church. New classes beginning October 1st: Beginning Suzuki Violin (Ages Kindergarten on up) This introductory class will present basic violin and bow hold, & four basic beginning rhythms on open strings. Music for Little Mozarts (Ages 4-6) Students follow the adventures of Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse as they learn musical concepts through listening, singing, piano music, movement and rhythmic activities. Dave Ramsey teaches about how to save money, live on a budget, communicate about money, eliminate debt, find bargains, and experience the joy of giving. Cost for this class is $93 per family unit. Grief Release

Begins September 10th 6:30 pm in Room 228 If you have experienced any kind of loss recently, whether it be the loss of a loved one, letting go of a dream, or even losing your hope and joy, then Grief Release is for you. Grief Release is led by Joanne Petrie, a nationally certified bereavement facilitator, hospice chaplain, counselor, author and teacher. Cost to attend is $35 per person, and we need a minimum of 12 people registered to offer this class.

The Gospel of Mark

Begins September 3rd 7:00 pm in Room 230 Mark, the shortest of the four Gospels, focuses more on the actions of Jesus, rather than His teaching. This study will focus on “Jesus, the Servant” as He is portrayed in the Gospel written by Mark. The miracles, parables, teachings and rejection of Jesus will be presented as we move through this fast-paced, action-filled Gospel. Led by Rod Rider

High School Choir Priority, our music ministry for high school and college students, will start their 20th incredible season of ministry on Wednesday, September 10th. Rehearsals are every Wednesday night from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Come join us!

Witness

Middle School Choir Witness, our middle school music ministry, will also begin on Wednesday, September 10th, at 6:00 pm with a great kick-off! Invite your friends and come join in the fun! All students 6th-8th grade are welcome!

Open For New Members On Wednesday, September 3rd, the Portland Christian Center Choir will begin a brand new season of ministry. If you’re at least 18 years of age and have singing experience, we’d love to talk to you about being a part of this outstanding ministry team. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. Panama Missions Building Trip November 1st - 15th, 2008

Henningsen Property Work Day Saturday, September 13th, 2008, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

We will be cutting and removing brush, limbs and debris along the highway right-of-way. Due to safety needs, we need responsible adults who can receive direction and follow instructions. The result of this work day will provide a much improved view of the rest of our property for people traveling along Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. Portland Christian Center is fortunate to have convenient overflow parking available to our attenders on Sunday mornings. Make an effort to park at the Robert Gray Middle School parking lot and travel by our shuttles with door-to-door service.
