Introduction

Living things are also called organism. Some organisms are made up of one cell. These are unicellular organisms. Unicellular organisms are very small. Yeast, Euglena, Paramecium, & Amoeba are examples of unicellular organism. Multicellular organism are made up of more than one cell. Hydra, Spirogyra, insects, birds & fern are examples of multicellular organisms.

1

Objective

➢ Understand unicellular organisms & multicellular organism.

➢ Learn how to classified unicellular organisms & multicellular organism. ➢ Give examples of unicellular organisms & multicellular organism. ➢ Understand the meaning of unicellular organisms & multicellular organism.

Finding 1

Unicellular organisms are organisms that can survive without the help of other cells. They are complex as the cell is complex. Many people consider them simple creatures. There is nothing simple concerning the cell. A multicelluler organisms is much more complex since there is an interdependence of cells making up their body. Their cells seem to be more specialized in a way as to complement the entire organism. Their

cells have lost their independence and cannot live alone out side the organism.

Finding 2 Aim : To observe unicellular and multicellular organisms. ➢ Materials : Pond water. ➢ Apparatus : Slide, glass cover, microscope, dropper. ➢ Procedure : 1) Put a drop of pond water on a clean slide. 2) Observe the pond water under a low power microscope. 3) Name some of the organisms seen. ➢ Observation : ➢

Analysis : I can’t see any moving thing in the pond. Paramecium and Amoeba are the organism which cannot be seen with the naked eye. An organism consisting of only one cell is unicellular organism and multicellular organism is an organism that consisting more than one cell. Virus is only microorganism that cannot be seen with the use of a normal light microscope. ➢ Conclusion : Pond water contains many unicellular and Multicellular organisms. ➢
