Balanced and Unbalanced Force Vocabulary - Balanced Force – two forces acting in opposite directions on an object, and equal in size - Unbalanced Force – two forces acting on an object are not equal in size - Friction – is the force that opposes the relative motion or tendency of such motion of two surfaces in contact - Net Force – is the overall force acting on an object; the amount of force that is making the object change direction or motion - Force - A push or a pull; something that pushes or pulls on an object in a certain direction - Gravity - The force of attraction between masses. - Mass - The amount of matter an object contains - Weight - The strength of the gravitational force pulling down on an object - Work - The transfer of energy resulting from a force acting to move an object over a distance. - Energy - The ability to do work (or to produce change)
