The Golden Circle Classic This popular excursion introduces you to some of the best known natural phenomena in Iceland. We start by visiting the power plant at Nesjavellir, which is situated at a high temperature geothermal area in the scenic landscape of Lake Þingvallavatn. From there we go to the Þingvellir National Park where the Icelandic parliament Alþingi was founded in the year 930 AD, which makes it the oldest known still-functioning parliament in the world. Þingvellir is geologically remarkable and there you can see tectonic plate boundaries that form a breathtaking scenery. We continue to the beautiful waterfall Gullfoss where we can walk so close to the edge that we might feel the mist of the glacial water on our faces. From there we journey towards the geothermal area around the incredible spouting hot springs of Geysir and Strokkur. We proceed to Skálholt church, the ancient seat of the Icelandic bishops. On our way back we will make a photo stop at the colourful volcanic crater Kerið. From there we travel through fertile agricultural areas to Hveragerði, a small and charming horticultural village. Due to weather and road conditions we cannot guarantee visits to Nesjavellir in the winter season.

Iceland From Below AN UNDERGROUND ADVENTURE Available throughout the year, this tour takes you to unique sights of Iceland’s most spectacular lava tube caves and craters. We will enter through narrow cave entrances and find they reveal extraordinary scenery of colours and lava formations. These beautiful, natural phenomena were created when the surface lava hardened and the fluid lava continued to flow in tubes underneath. You will also see natural stalactites and many different rock formations making this nearly an indescribable experience. The caves become wide and high and in many places the floor is quite even. However, the trip can become rather difficult so we recommend you bring good walking shoes or hiking boots which are suitable for uneven lava surfaces. Respect for nature and safety are our main concerns. There are no handrails, lights or any pre-installed tools in or around the caves. We rely completely on the equipment we carry and that people respect our guidelines. This tour is suitable for all who can walk on uneven surfaces and at times, on all four. Note: This tour is not recommended for children under the age of 10. Also available as a combination tour: AH21 Iceland from Below & Blue Lagoon Direct

south coast & þórsmörk Greater Area Reykjavík Sightseeing We begin this tour by driving over the mountain heath Hellisheiði towards Selfoss town and then along the south shore to Seljalandsfoss waterfall. From there our journey continues towards the interior to our main attraction, Þórsmörk (i.e. Thor’s Woodland), a nature reserve shielded on three sides by glaciers and mountains. The glacial melt-off forms rivers that have to be crossed on the way, but those can change in a matter of hours from an innocent stream into a thunderous torrent. Some days the crossing is quite challenging or even impossible but our skilled drivers are very experienced in these driving conditions and will take you safely across the rivers. Once there we make a stop to enjoy the breathtaking scenery with its multitude of small gullies and valleys, clad with low birch-trees that create seemingly endless possibilities for the nature lover. Various hiking routes are available there and everybody can find a suitable one for them. On our way back we will stop at the rugged gorge of Stakkholtsgjá for a short hike. This tour is truly unforgettable for the nature lover at heart and ideal as a hiking trip. During the hardest winter months, it might not be possible to access Þórsmörk. Then we will visit Vík village with it’s black sand beaches and the magnificent Skógarfoss waterfall.

We journey through the beautiful countryside of southern Iceland and proceed into the highlands through Þjórsárdalur valley and visit Hjálparfoss waterfall. northern lights mystery Join us for a mysterious trip, on a dark winter night. Any time from the onset of autumn darkness until the light nights of spring we can witness one of nature’s most spectacular displays; the phenomenon which we call the Northern Lights. Far from the glow of the city, we hunt for the elusive Aurora Borealis – known as the Northern Lights. Together we will search for these magnificent auroras. On a clear night, we may be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights swirling in a wild and carefree dance across the heaven in dramatic shapes, colours, patterns and sizes. The Northern Lights are visible from September through April but can only be seen on a clear night. Therefore, we reserve the right to cancel this tour if the evening sky is heavily clouded or weather conditions are not favourable. Before we start this tour we always check the weather forecast around the south western part of Iceland. From experience, we decide where each journey will lead us, for the best possibilities to see the Northern Lights.

south coast &Sightseeing Greater Area Reykjavík jökulsárlón glacial lagoon
This tour takes us along the beautiful south shore of Iceland to the extraordinary glacial lagoon, Jökulsárlón. We will pass some charming villages, Skaftafell National Park, Seljalandsfoss waterfall and Skógarfoss waterfall. Just before we reach the lagoon we pass Iceland’s biggest volcano, Öræfajökull glacier which has the highest peak of the island, Hvannadalshnjúkur (2110 m). After we arrive at the lagoon we have some time to view this stunning area before we take a boat tour on the lagoon. The boats that carry us are no ordinary boats as they are capable of driving short distances on land as well as sailing on the water. Jökulsárlón started to form in the early nineteen twenties and is getting bigger every year. You will see many amazing blocks of ice that have broken off Europe’s biggest glacier, Vatnajökull, and sail slowly towards the ocean which is only a kilometer away. After a refreshing sail on the lagoon we head back to Reykjavík.

magnificent fissure snorkeling As an activity, snorkeling is within the reach of practically everyone and the basics are easy to learn. Most of us take our holidays in areas that are ideal for snorkeling and why not in one of the most magnificent sites in Iceland, Þingvellir. If you are interested in seeing Iceland underwater then this tour is for you! Silfra is a crack/fissure in the face of the earth and has a constant temperature of 1-3°C all year round. The water in Silfra comes up from the lava after traveling for years underground from Iceland’s glaciers. You can swim out the crack without effort because of a mild current thrusting you upwards. Suitable for beginners or advanced, we offer expert tuition and guidance. We recommend that you wear warm undergarments beneath the diving suit and bring extra clothing.

Landmannalaugar & mt. hekla BY SUPER JEEP A unique and unforgettable Super Jeep excursion to this striking “jewel of the interior”. Landmannalaugar is the pearl of Iceland’s central highlands, situated in a valley between colourful, steep mountains at the high and dark edge of the Laugahraun lava field. The route passes through Þjórsárdalur valley and crosses lava fields of different eras, small rivers and volcanic craters, which make up a peculiar lunar-type landscape. Landmannalaugar is surrounded by colorful mountains due to centuries of volcanic activity in the area and is indescribably beautiful; you just have to see it for yourself. The mountains are split with gullies and gorges that are ideal for hiking. At Landmannalaugar you can have an outside bath in a natural warm pool where many hot and cold springs have mixed together. On our way back to Reykjavík we drive along the roots of Mt. Hekla. Hekla is the queen of mountains on the island and has erupted on average every 10 years in the 20th century, the last time in the year 2000. The frequent eruptions have created dramatic scenery with thick layers of ash and lava in the surrounding area. Return to Reykjavik in the late afternoon. We reserve the right to alter the itinerary according to weather and road conditions.

jeep safari Greater super Area Reykjavík Sightseeing The volcanic Reykjanes peninsula is a mystical area, just southwest of Reykjavik. Travellers can let the imagination flow free when driving through the vast lava fields with its strange shadows and rock formations. In geological terms the peninsula is quite young and signs of volcanic activity such as lava craters, black lava fields with special vegetation of moss and lichen and impressive volcanoes are to be seen in many places on the peninsula. One of the tour highlights is a drive on the beaches of Lake Kleifarvatn. Following the big earthquakes in the year 2000 the water level of the lake decreased by five meters but is now slowly reaching its normal level again. We will also visit Krísuvík which is situated close to the southern end of the lake and has innumerable small hot springs, mud pots, boiling pools and other types of geothermal activity. We reserve the right to alter the itinerary according to weather and road conditions.

Our first stop is at Þingvellir National Park, which is one of Iceland’s most significant historical sites because it was there that Iceland’s first parliament was founded in the year 930 AD. From there we continue on to Gullfoss (“the Golden waterfall”) where your proximity to its edge is so close you can feel the spray of the glacial water on your face. Next we kick the action into higher gear to get even closer to Iceland’s nature and go for a snowmobiling tour on Langjökull, Iceland’s second largest glacier. After an action-packed day we drive through the countryside, make a short photo stop at the colourful volcanic crater Kerið and pass by the greenhouse village in Hveragerði, from which many of Iceland’s vegetables are supplied.
