Mengasosiasi: Guru memberikan teks historical recount “Battle of Surabaya” dengan paragraph yang di acak siswa dalam kelompok menyusunnya kembali ke dalam struktur teks recount yang tepat.

LAMPIRAN 1 I.MATERI PEMBELAJARAN 1.TEXT HISTORICAL RECOUNT World War II in Pacific, The Return of the Dutch Word War II in the Pacific ended after the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. The Empire of Japan surrendered to the Allies aboard USS Missouri in 1945. It inspired the East Indies (Indonesia) nationalists to proclaim Independence, which the Japanese had promised. Soon, the leaders of the Indonesian nationalist movement insisted that Soekarno, a son of a school teacher and theosophist, and Hatta, a Sumatra economist, proclaim Indonesian independence on the August 17th, 1945. They were also appointed as president and vicepresident of the new nation. After the Japanese left from the East Indies, the Dutch came back to recover the territory. They realized that the East Indies was very important for the Dutch economy Armed with Japanese weapons, the Dutch were able to make significant headway in Sumatra and Java.
The Dutch aggression came under much criticism from the United Nations. They proposed a negotiation between the Dutch and the Indonesian nationalist movement and both sides agreed to negotiate. Eventually, a conference of 120 delegates was held in the Hague (Dutch: Den Haag) in 1949. The Indonesian nationalist delegates were led by Mohammad Hatta. After ten weeks of meetings, both sides reached an agreement by which the Dutch recognized the sovereignty of the United States of Indonesia, with Queen Juliana as the titular head of an Indonesian-Dutch union. Battle of Surabaya a). Considered a heroic effort by Indonesians, the battle helped galvanised Indonesian and international support for Indonesian independence. 10 November is celebrated annually as Heroes’ Day. b).The battle and defences mounted by the Indonesians galvanised the nation in support of independence and helped garner international attention. For the Dutch, it removed any doubt that the Republic was not simply a gang of collaborators without popular support. It also had the effect of convincing Britain that wisdom lay on the side of neutrality in the revolution; within a few years, in fact, Britain would support the Republican cause in the United Nations. C).The Battle of Surabaya was fought between pro-independence Indonesian soldiers and militia against British and British Indian troops as a part of the Indonesian National Revolution. d).The peak of the battle was in November 1945. The battle was the heaviest single battle of the revolution and became a national symbol of Indonesian resistance. Fighting broke out on 30 October after the British commander, Brigadier A. W. S. Mallaby was killed in a skirmish. Although the Colonial forces largely captured the city in three days, the poorly armed Republicans fought for three weeks, and thousands died as the population fled to the countryside.
2.FUNGSI SOSIAL TEXT Historical recount is a text that is used to explain and retell factual events in the past that has historical values. Unlike personal recount, the writer of a historical doen’t need to be personally involved in the event they are writing about. The social function is to inform the audiences on the historical recount. 3.STRUKTUR TEXT Generic Structure Dari Recount Text Adalah Sebagai Berikut : Orientation : Pada bagian ini penulis menjelaskan tema apa dan bagaimana latar dari cerita tersebut. Events : Yaitu peristiwa yang terjadi mulai diceritakan oleh penulis berdasarkan kronologis kejadian.
