CHAPMAN VALLEY CRICKET CLUB V NORTHAMPTON ROUND 2 @ Northampton 25th October 2008 Northampton 7 for 228 ( King 3 for 51, Friday 2 for 28) Chapman Valley 7 for 246 ( Kupsch 74, P Sorgiovanni 55, Attrill 36) Our second game of the year saw the debut of Flynn Drage, the return of Ryan Ibbotson and the B grade debut of Kingy for the Valley. Batting first Northampton got away to a rapid start and it wasn’t until the introduction of Kingy (3 for 51) that we secured the first breakthrough which was followed by another quick wicket. After having a run rate of nearly 6 off the first 112 overs we did very well to bring the rate back and keep the Rams to 228. Our fielding was harder to predict that the winner of the cup but we were kept entertained by the antics of Shane (The Juggler … Ooops did I drop that? Higgins). Rat’s head butt wicketkeeping technique has some merit but we can’t see it catching on! Young Flynn Drage, on debut, was lighting in the field. It what could only be described as the slowest race in the world Macca outpaced Frieds in a race to the boundary! Mind you, Ibbo nearly lapped them after giving away a 40 metre head start. Rumour has it that Frieds has asked for a swab to be taken. In what could have been a real test of character the fella kept their heads up and a great sense of humour throughout! Yep! Thanks again, Higgo. Losing both openers with only 25 on the board wasn’t the best start but Rat (36) , Junior Sorge(19) and Higgo (18) steadied the ship to get us to 4 for 83 after 19 overs. A really solid partnership of 68 between Old Sorge and Tin Kupsch got us to 194. Dragey (13 n.o.) joined Kupschy (74) in a match winning partnership of 52 which was only ended by Kupschy losing his way in the dark. Flynn’s driving career is in some question after hitting the local plod into the pavilion for 6! Well done to the fellas on a great win. Our next game is scheduled for Nabawa against Bluff Point this coming Saturday the 1st Nov.

Congratulations to the award winners. THE AUSTRALIAN PREMIER SEAFOOD AWARD – DAVID KUPSCH THE CHIS AND FIPS AWARD – CHRIS KING PLEASE, REMEMBER TO SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS! Lost – one pair of clown shoes! If found please return to Higgo! He needs them to field in this week!
