CHAPMAN VALLEY CRICKET CLUB V KALBARRI ROUND 1 @ Kalbarri 18th October 2008 Kalbarri 157 ( Sorgiovanni 3 for 32, Riman 2 for 31, Perera 2 for 44) Chapman Valley 187 ( Williamson 58, Friday 37 no, P Sorgiovanni 34, Higgins 26) Our opening game of the year saw a number of new faces front up for the Valley. Sean Emerson comes to us from Queensland while Geoff Perera and David Sorgiovanni have seen the light and transferred from Wanderers. Tex’s career as Captain got of to the expected start with him losing the toss and having us sent in to field. Kalbarri got away to a flyer and were 36 after 4 overs and 65 after 10! Despite being on the end of a few mighty blows the bowlers kept their heads up and we eventually had the Shaggers at 7 for 94. Dave Riman (2/31) bowled very well after a shaky start and was unlucky to only snare 2 wickets. Senior Sorge (3/32) was unlucky to not get a hatrick and Tex (1/17) bowled very tightly. A couple of dropped catches prolonged the innings but the Wog Boys combined to get the last wicket. Please note that Wog Boys is easier to say and type than bowled Sorgiovanni, caught Sorgiovanni! (I rest my case!) Sean Emerson (Ginge) was a revelation in the field with some fantastic (or is than Fanatic) fielding and a stunner of a diving catch. Ginge (16) and Willow (58) got us off to a solid start (43). Partnerships of 44 between Willo and Senior (34) and the 32 between Senior and Higgo (26) all but secured the victory. Frieds (37no) took advantage of a tired attack at the death and Tex marked the season’s opener with a duck.

Congratulations to the award winners. THE CHIS AND FIPS AWARD – PHIL (SENIOR) SORGIOVANNI THE AUSTRALIAN PREMIER SEAFOOD AWARD – GERARD WILLIAMSON PLEASE, REMEMBER TO SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS! We wish Gerard Williamson all the best for his wedding next Saturday to Stacey Lost – the ability to speak properly, last seen somewhere between Kalbarri and Drummond’s Cove. If found please return to Higgo!
