Proposal Right to Education (R2E) WHEREAS education is a fundamental human right and critical to the freedom of every society; AND WHEREAS the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza and the ongoing closures, military roadblocks, and the construction of an illegal wall prevent thousands of students and teachers from reaching their universities and schools, in addition to many other obstacles to education; AND WHEREAS Palestinian students are regularly subjected to intimidation, assault and arbitrary arrest by Israeli authorities. AND WHEREAS Palestinian universities and schools have been closed down, raided and attacked by Israeli military order; BE IT RESOLVED THAT the SFUO adopt and support the Birzeit University Right to Education Campaign. Strategy 1. Supporting affiliations to the R2E campaign at Birzeit University in Ramallah, Occupied Palestine. 2. Supporting the R2E call for international action against violations against the basic right to education in the occupied Palestinian territories. Tactics 1. Supporting efforts to build connections with Palestinian universities, students and faculty, through solidarity links or academic exchange in accordance with the R2E urgent international call to action. 2. Speaking events with notable advocates of Palestinian Education, or other related topics. 3. Assisting on raising awareness about the issues facing Palestinian students under occupation using information and resources provided by the Right to Education Campaign. 4. Support the screening the Right to Education Campaign film, 'A Caged Bird's Song', which joins Palestinian students and teachers in their struggle to reach university and continue their education.

Resources 1. Assistance in obtaining funding for speaking events. 2. Minor financial assistance for posters for movie screening.
